Here is the story ... I left a towel on the floor in the bathroom when I took a shower earlier today; a little bit ago I went in there to pick it up and when I did out crawls this huge bug :bbeek:

So I scream like a girl and jump up on the toilet and freak out the dogs ... then I laugh at myself for a minute and jump down and go get the bug spray.

Man I hate bugs; I can only hope he just came in from the cold and rain and there are no more around!!!!

I would have done the same thing probably! It's the element of surprise that really gets me!

I'm constantly killing bugs for my girlfriends. When I was an RA, my girls were constantly knocking on my door because they didn't like their roommate and because of big nasty bugs.

Lol, I'm the same way, especially with spiders.

One day, at our old apartment, I was just about to leave when I noticed a GIANT (usually I exaggerate when I talk about the size of bugs, but this isn't exaggerating!) spider right at the top of the wall in our bedroom. I didn't want to leave without killing it because then I wouldn't know where it was when I got back. And I was alone so I couldn't recruit FH to get it. So I grabbed the broom. I held the tip of it and reached it out to smush the spider. There were easily 5 feet between us (the length of my arm plus the length of the broom), yet every time I got within a foot of smushing it I balled like a baby. I was scared ****less and it took me a good 10 minutes to get up the courage to lunge and smush the thing.

I'm such a baby...

I've always had to be the bug killer for people.
Whenever I think of killing a bug I recall one very early Saturday morning my sophomore year in college. My roommate (and to this day my dearest friend and MOH), who is a big wuss about bugs, snakes, gooey things, the dark, being home alone, and for some reason Subway sandwiches (I'm still unclear on that one) opened her eyes and spotted a bug on the ceiling. She FREAKED and runs over to my side of the room and wakes me up, howling, begging me to "KILL IT! KILL IT!" Rattled and groggy I had to get out of bed, grab the nearest shoe and climb on a chair to kill the stupid thing.
And then I went back to bed.
So, comparatively to her at least, you handled it pretty well! Hahahaha :)

I probably would have freaked out, too. I probably would have run out of the room, though. One time there was a giant flying insect in the bathroom, and it was on the floor... I stepped on it with a shoe on and instantly felt bad...haha.

I have another story that might be kinda funny... there was a spider crawling on the wall at my friend's house when I was there. I was on the phone, and she and my other friend were screaming at the top of their lungs. One of them squished it, and it stuck to the wall. They were trying to get it with a piece of paper, and all the sudden it jumped at them! Their screams were probably heard in other states... Turns out it was on a web and it was hanging by that. Meanwhile, I was laughing really hard and the guy I was on the phone with was extremely confused.

I'da screamed for Matt if it were a spider. I can handle 6 legs, not 8!

Caligal, I was an RA as well and my girls came to me ALL THE TIME. Of course, I had to buck it up, I didn't want all my girls to know I was scared of a spider LOL

I definitely would have freaked! I hate bugs and spiders...they are just creepy! A few weeks ago, I was kind of in the same situation as WebLady. I was in the bathroom and there was a dark towel on the floor. My cat, Patches, was just sleeping right there on the towel. I wasn't paying any attention and then a HUGE spider came crawling out from under the towel and started towards my cat! It was a fiddleback...so I start screaming for DH to come kill the spider. I'm upstairs and he's downstairs. I was screaming down the stairs "please! Come kill this huge spider! It's gonna get Patches!" Stupid cat didn't even move! So, Danny finally makes it upstairs and kills the spider. When he finally got upstairs, he agreed that it was a very big spider!

We also had some sort of crazy-looking grasshopper right outside the bathroom door hanging on the wall. When I saw it, I screamed loud! I quietly snuck around him and went in to the bathroom. When I came out, I knew he was still going to be there, so I slowly peek my head around the corner to see where he is...he was maybe a foot away from me...and turned his head to look at me! I freaked! He was a big, ugly thing and just started staring at me! I ended up staying in the bathroom for like 10 minutes after that! I can still see his creepy little face turning to look at me!

 I thought we had a Jerry Springer show in the making when I read the title of the post.
Believe me I would've jumped from the surprise myself.

I gotta say though, while I'm scared of spiders and my hubby is not, he's equally scared of snakes as I am of spiders, and I'm not scared of snakes unless it's a rattler. We take care of each other well :)

Normally I'm the sort who likes to think I can do anything a man can do, but I told FH that is the man's job - to get the bugs!

At our house, FH screams for me to come kill it if he sees a spider.

Last fall he and a friend were closing our pool and saw a giant spider on the shed. They had no need to go in the shed, but they still didn't want the spider there just incase it would go inside and then attack them later. I had to go outside and kill this poor spider in it's own environment to get them to finish closing the pool. FH is such a girl when it comes to spiders.

I used to be afraid of them, as well, until I had my son and realized that if I didn't kill them they might end up on him.

This made me laugh, heheheh! Was it a praying mantis? They're big but cool to look at.

These nasty bugs scare the **** out of me. I have to have hubby kill them. Fortunately, I've just seen baby ones in our apartment, but since it's cold out, I haven't seen any. Plus, we had our place sprayed for bugs.

I *hate* bugs. I don't have any problem killing them, but that element of suprise it what really gets me. This past Fall I about stepped on a tarantula at work (when I was outside cleaning). I have no problem with them, but I about *died* because I just wasn't expecting one to be right there by my foot!

I then made the mistake of telling my boss about it. He went outside, got it and walked around with it scaring people at work, lol.

I can handle any bugs with the exception of these: cockroaches and scorpions!

This is a bit embarrasing. We were up at the lake one night (FH and I) and we were snuggling on the grass and al of a sudden he jumps up, pulls down his shorts and is yelling pretty loudly. Apparently a scorpion climbed into his shorts and stung him on his inner thigh.

A month later, same thing happened. So this told us to keep are buts off the grass!

I must be weird. I love bugs. I used to keep them as pets. Cicadas on a string and fly them. Praying Mantis. Growing up on a Farm you could always find some neat bugs. Spiders I can kill them with out blinking.
RC on the other had refuses to kill most bugs. He will collect them and take them outside. But let a fly within arms length and he is trying to catch it in his hand and then squashes them.
