Now seems to be a great time to buy white lights on white wire. I found a good deal at Target. For $9 you get two strands, totaling 350 lights. Each strand is 45.3 ft. (about the longest I've found for anyone like me who wants to light a very large area). I ended up getting 11 boxes and am about to try them out! It says you can only plug 3 in together but I'm guessing 4 would be safe. I'm hoping my venue has extension cords we can borrow. Fingers crossed! I thought of waiting until after xmas but for the savings it wasn't worth the risk. Still only spent about $110 and I plan to sell them after.

They work great. Now I just have to decide if unwrapping them all is a good idea...each strand has plastic wrap, and about 4 huge twist ties wrapped all around. It would probably be a good idea for the boys putting them up for me. =)

I was going to wait until after Christmas and see if they have any blue icicle lights left over. I'll be ok if they sell out, I guess.. but I figure they'll still be there. That's cool that you got your lights now, though. Christmas is definitely the best time to do that.

I remember one year we used the white icicle lights to decorate our "heaven" themed prom. Just be sure you'd don't plug too many into each other!! We blew a fuse from having too many plugged into each other and all the power went out. LOL. But after they got the power back on, we unplugged all the lights from each other and put the right amount in a row and then into an outlet.....so much for trying to cut corners. Haha. :D

Hehe. Thus the need for many extension cords. We are planning to light the exterior perimeter of the tent (600 ft) plus extra around the entrance walkway.

If you can't get just blue lights...you do have a couple other options. You can buy just blue replacement bulbs, or you can buy blue nail polish. Little know secret...if you have a colored light bulb that begins to chip the color off you can paint the light bulb with a coat of nail polish. The light will still shine through. Even if you don't paint them 100% perfect the general hue will be blue.
