Since we set the date and are planning a christmas themed wedding, my mind has just been racing with ideas. We're only inviting about 60 people to the wedding. I already have my invitations and programs done (I did them on word, haven't printed them out yet) but I have yet to start anything else. Here are my ideas so far. Please, tell me what you think
- We are going to set up a christmas tree, decorate it, and have guests place their gifts under the tree.
- Instead of having a guestbook, we are either going to have guests sign those glass bulb ornaments (that way we can hang them up each year and be reminded of our wedding) OR have them sign a christmas tree skirt. My FH is uncertain about the ornaments, because he's afraid they will break easily. Which idea do you prefer?
- For centerpieces, we are going to use large glass bowls and fill them up with different colored bulb ornaments.(I've seen pictures of this online and thought it looked neat and it is very inexpensive) We are also going to place votive candles around it and sprinkle fake snow on the tables.
- We are going to have a candy buffet. I'm going to try to find candy in my colors, which are red and green and we're using gold and silver as accent colors. This will be part of the guests favors. I want to try to find little mini christmas bags for them to put the candy into.
- The other favor will either be an ornament, which will have our names and wedding date on it, OR a CD we will make which will have various christmas carols on it. Still undecided.
Well, that's all the ideas I have as of now. Anyone have any others?

I agree with your FH about the ornaments as a guest book thing; I like the tree skirt idea better. Just make sure you get a fabric pen that won't bleed or fade.
I like the ornament favor idea, but I wonder if people would really put that on their tree. I don't think I would put an ornament from someone elses wedding on my tree, but I am picky that way ;) I might like the holiday CD better, but even in that, not everyone is all that into that sort of thing either. But you know what they say; you can't please everyone ;)

I do agree with WebLady and your FH that theres a good chance over time you'll break some of the ornaments so I would recommend the tree skirt also.
As for the favors, I think both sound great. Personally I would love the ornament over the CD. Most of my friends and family I think would also. Thats because a lot of them get "sick" of christmas songs fast. You could pay attention to your friends and family this christmas season (or maybe you already know) and see what their reactions are to all the carols. Hopefully that could help you...
Your wedding sounds like its going to be fabulous! Makes me want to a christmas themed one!

I think I would rather have the cd also. My Christmas tree has a theme, and the ONLY other ornament I will allow on it is the memorial ornament for my brother.
There are lots of Christmas type ideas online, you should check them out.

You should check out my journal. My wedding has a Christmas theme as well and we are doing some very similar things. I'm having a candy bar with mostly red candy. My centerpieces are glass bowls with Christmas balls surrounded by snowflake votives. My colors are red and white with silver and gold accents. I actually tried to incorporate snowflakes as much as possible (which is hard when working with red since most snowflake stuff is blue). We bought 2 white Christmas trees to set up at the reception and are decorating them with all red ornaments.
I'm assuming you're getting married next December? If so, definitely take advantage of after-Christmas sales. I bought my favors at 25 cents apiece plus I got lots of other great deals.
Good luck and I can't wait to see what else you come up with!

Check out Oriental Trading for Christmas goodie bags for the candy buffet. That's where I got mine. I also found silver twist ties with a double heart tag attached to it at Michael's. I printed the saying "How sweet it is to be loved by you" on the tags.

I made my own version of this. Just thought I'd share. It was super easy to do.

Thats really cute Katrina! I'm assuming those are cinnamon sticks? MMmmmmm You probably have most of your stuff already, but I have seen LOTS of red with snowflakes lately. (I'm using snowflakes as well) Even last year I was seeing more red with snowflakes, but I was being stubborn and picky because I only wanted red with WHITE snowflakes (not white with red snowflakes) but I am finally seeing that now. YAY!!! because besides the wedding decor, my kitchen has red accents so I can use all this stuff forever - or until I want a change. :D

Yes, I used cinnamon sticks, only because I used peppermint sticks the first time and I messed it up. I took the wrappers off my peppermint sticks which was a big mistake. When I realized I shouldn't have done that I sprayed the peppermint sticks with a sealer. But it was still sticky and it ended up gluing itself to my computer desk. So I used cinnamon sticks instead.
I have been finding more red with white snowflakes too! I get so excited when I do! I'm such a dork!

Your ideas sound wonderful.. makes me wish we would have done a christmas wedding. I was actually thinking of having a vow renewal around chrismtas. I love the tree skirt idea as a guest book, the ornimants are cute but like you said it can very well break. I absolutly love the idea of a christmas tree and presents going under there! That is the most adorable idea I have ever heard. My dh cousin had a christmas wedding and gave ornimants as favors. They were small and I actually put it on our tree every year. So I vote christmas orniments. Someone mentioned earlier that christmas songs get boring really fast! Good luck.. everything sounds wonderful so far

Thanks everyone=]
I'm so excited to get started.
We are going to get married in a small church in my FH's home town .. and we are going to have the reception in the community building.
The tables are rectangular .. so we're going to have the bowls with ornaments as the main centerpiece and then have 2 other things on both sides(if that makes sense)
I went to the dollar tree today and found the PERFECT things. They are mini christmas trees and they come in red, green and gold (my colors) We are going to put 2 of them on the tables .. and I also found fake snow there too.
I found some garland also that I am going to somehow use on the tables .. just don't know how to yet. They also have the bulb ornaments that I want for the centerpieces .. 16 for a buck! And I found bubbles too. 6 for a buck! I was also surprised because they had a good selection of flowers and they were in good shape! I know sometimes you go there and have to dig to find good flowers. I already have some decorations. I have the glasses for the candy buffet and the bowls for the centerpieces. I also have gold and red table runners. So I am hoping to be able to get the rest of my decorations there for 50-75$. The dollar tree rocks!

If You want to do Baubles as a Guest Book. There are loads of great Shatterproof ones around. My Christmas Tree has Red, Gold and Green on it and every bauble is shatterproof because Our Cat likes to climb the tree.
Here He is thinking about it.
