So our colors are navy/silver/white. Navy is both of our favorite colors so when FH said he had to have navy, I gave the ok. I was wanting the GM's vests to be different then FH's so I was going to put FH in silver and the guys in navy. Well now FH has to actually be wearing navy! (his rule) So now I dont know if I should put the guys in navy also or put them in the silver. I want FH to stand out and dont know if he would if they're all matching but at the same time would he stand out if he's in the darker color and the GM are in the bright silver. Any advice or thoughts? TIA!

When we first started planning our wedding FH insisted that he have a red vest. It took several weeks, but I finally convinced him that he couldn't wear the same color as his GMs. What color are your BM dresses? If they are navy, I think the GM should wear navy, as well.
I didn't want me in ivory, him in red, bms in red and groomsmen in black or silver. I usually think the GM vest should be the same color as the BM dresses, but that's just me.
I did finally convince Micah he needed to wear ivory, as well and let the groomsmen have the color. Then I changed my wedding colors because I bought a champagne colored dress and he said as soon as he saw my dress that he wanted the champagne as well.

The BM dresses are navy. I think I'm going to have to keep working at him and convince him on the silver vest. Hopefully I can get through to him.
Thanks Micah's Bride!

Good luck with that! Guys can be so stubborn sometimes.
I think it will look fine either way, honestly. I'm just glad that he doesn't have his heart set on something ridiculous.

Is there a reason he can't wear navy and the gms wear silver/grey? It's his wedding too, and his favourite colour is navy.

I just wasnt sure if it would look funny (lack of a better word) if he matched the BM dresses and to me the guys would stand out more being in silver and him being in navy. Its not that he can't, I just wanted to get opinions on what people thought.

I think it would actually look better with the gm's not being to matchy-matchy too the bridemaids. Your FH will still stand out against the gms by wearing a different colour, and he gets to wear his favourite colour at the same time. I do worry about silver vests being too shiny though, could they wear a grey instead? But I'm biased, I'm not much of a fan of vests/shiny silver.

I could put them in more of a grey than silver. So far nothing as been bought in silver so it wouldnt be an inconvenience or anything. That could work too. Thanks for the idea Katie-ryn!

I spent hours yesterday fighting over vest colors, well mostly just trying to find enough varying colors. What we ended up doing was the same color vests but with a different tie. What if all the GM had navy vests and navy ties and the groom wore a navy vest with a silver tie? Its just an idea

I like that also! Thanks!
FH wants this to be his decision so I will tell him this idea as well. Thank you :)

My thoughts (in addition to those that have already been suggested) are to have him wear a different style tie - if the gm are wearing long ties, let him wear a bowtie. Or have him wear a different boutonniere - if there is a flower that is in your bouquet that isn't in your bm bouquets, have his boutonniere made of that flower to match yours. Or put two flowers in his and one in the gm, or have the gm wear two tiny flowers (I'm thinking miniature roses but it wouldn't have to be if you're not using roses) and give your fh one big rose. Or use a different color flower for your fh - white/ivory for his (or a particular color in your bouquet) and a color to match the bm bouquets for the groomsmen.
