Good job on the pics! What did you do for the background, hang up a sheet or something?

i know somebody who gets their xmas cards done at cvs every year. they do this "collage thing" where you can put up to 5 photos on one card and then print it. she usually gets that for about 1.10 a piece and then after it prints off she scans that and recopies it as a picture... then you can get pictures sometimes for 18cents a piece from those machines.. if you planned on printing them at home you could od the same thing. put a couple pictures on one piece and that way everybody has a couple pics of her.

As a fellow photographer ...
Can I ask what kind of lighting you used?

Natural Light from a bay window and a single household lamp. The rest was done in CS3 :).
EarlyBird... I do my own Cards in CS3 :) and get them printed at Ritz for 19 cents a print :)

Ah, you're lucky for such natural light! Don't get that kind in our house :(
But CS3 saves my life!

I agree, this one's your winner. Although I'd like to see it with a little less softness. I think you took it just a smidge too far. Also, I'd crop it down so there's not so much space around her, especially above her head. I also really like the ones where she's eating the ornament and garland. Those three would make a nice triptych.

You'd be amazed what you can do with household lighting. We've done some cool stuff with $5 work lights (the metal ones) you can pick up at Walmart. I also built a DIY ring light for like $10 out of stuff I picked up at Target (Rubbermaid tupperware, LED lights, cutting board for diffusing material).
Check out Strobist.com for some cool lighting resources and DIY projects.

saltyveruca , your right about the softness.. I had to do some softness in some because it was so grainy.. ISO 800.... some turned grainy some were fine at that ISO.. the reasoning I think was the sun peaking in and out of clouds.... anyway.. yea i have to tone it donw just a touch.. :)
