DH and I have formally been welcomed into the joys of homeownership club last night.. Our furnace went out and it is 34 degrees outside.. I noticed it was a little cold but didnt think much of it untill I walked by the vent and noticed the air coming out was cold. Turns out the error light on the furnace was flasing and no flames.. I check the gas it is working fine. DH called the people that installed it (furnace is only 2 years old) they have an emergency line and oh the message says if it is after 10pm on saturday we will call you back monday morning.. GRRR. So here we are with a heated blanket (bought at midnight last night) and a electric space heater haha.
We truly have bad luck. 2 cars died within the last year, oven went out on stove, new dryer went out, ice maker in freezer went out, now the furnance.. whats next. Im waiting for the hot water heater to blow up any day now its very old.

Oh No! I'm sorry! What a pain. Every time DH and I think about buying a house faster than we should we try to think of all of the extras that goes with owning. Hopefully it gets fixed soon! Do you live in a really cold area?

Awwww *hugs to you*!!!
I feel your pain .... we have found several things (not all immediately necessary as the heat) that don't work here and we just add them to "the list".
Our insurance company phoned last week to tell us that if we didn't fix the roof NOW, then it wouldn't be covered for damage until we did. Jeeez, there are few (and I mean a few) cracked shingles on the back portion of the roof. Our inspector said that all that was needed was a coating of tar! Apparently, the insurance lady feels we need a new roof. To add insult to injury, she sent a letter for us to sign and return showing that we understand that we will not be covered until the roof is repaired or replaced. :irked::irked::irked:

I know what it's like for the furnace to go out, not fun in the cold nights. And exspensive if they do an emergency repair on the weekend.
Once you get it fixed, I'd suggest checking with the utillity company (more then likely your gas company) to see if they have a repair program.
I pay $30 / month and if the furnace dies, stove, fridge, etc. they fix it for free, no matter if it's 1 pm or 1am or Christmas Day. Well worth it, especially in the winter.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you've gone through all of this. It's miserable when things break and worse will it feels like it's happening all at once.
I've often said, "It's home ownership, because the home owns you."
