My name is Sara, I'm a newbie and this is my first post(other then intro.)! :)
So I am having a pretty low budget wedding. I want to find just a plain black dress for my bridesmaids. (I don't know if I can or how to post pics or I would)I want it to be as cheap as possible and something they could wear again. Ive gave up on looking at "bridesmaid dresses" cause they are all over what I want to spend. So basically just a little black dress! Any ideas on where to shop??
Thanks!

Do you want them all to wear the same dress, or chose something on their own? Off the top of my head I would recommend looking at Target and Kohl's. Macy's also has a good selection of dresses this time of year in Junior's if that could work (I know that's wear I shopped in high school to find dresses under $50 for dances and such). All are less expensive than say Ann Taylor or J. Crew. Almost anywhere sells simple black dresses though....and the girls may have something already if you are flexible.

Target has a whole section of "little black dresses" with a lot of them for under $30. That might be a good place to start.

Thanks Ladies! Those are great places to check out. I would prefer for them all to wear the same dress but if I see that wont be possible I will let them choose their own.
Since I'm going to be going this route for their dresses how much in advance should we look for them?
Thanks again!
I bought a really cute black cocktail dress at JcPenney's and it was even on clearance! My girlfriend said for us to buy any dress that is black that we like, she didn't care. I bought it for like $20! (Originally was I think $70 or so) I wore it to a work Christmas party, and after that she did find bridesmaid dresses she wanted us to wear! lol, I wasn't out anything cause I really can use it again..if a I loose a few pounds that is! lol:winktongue:

My bridesmaids got to pick out whatever black dress they wanted, since I figured that they could find something more flattering for themselves than I could. I also went to great lengths to make sure that the flower girl parents could not communicate, so they would get very different dresses for them!

Here's my lineup, from left to right:
Nordstrom, David's Bridal (reused from a previous wedding!), Macy's. I don't know how much they spent because I didn't ask. I just asked them where, since I was curious!
I'm sure you can find little black dresses anywhere, since they're such a fashion staple. That's the beauty of them - if your girls don't already have a little black dress, they need to have one!
EDIT: As for how far to look in advance, it depends. If they're not going strapless and choose a dress with some give, they can get it anytime. But if you have your heart set on having strapless and/or extremely rigid fabric dresses, you should put off getting it until 3-4 months before the wedding, because weight gain and loss could ruin the fit. My BM in the David's dress lost weight in between weddings and didn't even realize it, so we had to pin her dress to her bra to prevent wardrobe malfunctions.

I would check the "prom-dress" section of your local retail stores. (Nordstrom, Dillards, ect.) That's where we found "little black dresses" when I was MOH for my best friends wedding. I think we payed $50.00 per dress, and I've worn it 3 other times besides the wedding. It's kind of out of season, BUT you might be in luck since Holiday parties are right around the corner. :) GOOD LUCK!

You could try The Loft, Forever 21 maybe (very cheap, but I tried on a cute black dress there last week), Nordstrom Rack? Good luck!!

I think department store sale racks are a great place to look. I always find great deals at Macy's. My friend found her wedding dress at Dillard's for $20!!! It wasn't officially a wedding dress but it was a very pale blue and I had no idea until told me. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! Some of these places I didn't even think of! I think I will wait to get them, that way they will have some time to save up! As for having the same dress...I'm kinda OCD about that....I like for everyone to look the same....so that would definitely be a last resort. Luckily my girls aren't like a wide variety of shapes and sizes so hopefully they could find something suitable for all of them?!
Thanks so much! :)
