The summer months are gone, September didn't exist, HAPPY HALLOWEEN- what the heck is happening to November? We're taking a QUICK sled ride into the holidays and, before you know it, I have to shovel a path to my mailbox to get the newspaper which is probably soaked with last nights plow droppings...

I HATE WINTER!! WHY DO I LIVE HERE!?

Sorry about that...this is my cry out for help against SAD- Seasonal Affective Disorder. Although I have never been "diagnosed", I am thoroughly convinced that, when it snows, I turn into the binge eating, moping zombie stuck in a bubble reminiscing about tank tops and skirts- I know I'm not alone!

Anyway, THIS YEAR, I want to get proactive. I want to find things to do- inside OR outside- to keep me busy and positive and non-zombie. Calling all people in the North for winter activity suggestions!! PLEASE HELP!

It affects me to. It isn't the cold or the lack of snow. (lol we only get about a week of it in my part of arkansas) It's the lack of daylight. I leave for work or school...its dark and before I can have a minute to myself to enjoy the suns rays...its magically dark again. I miss daylight. I never get to see it because im always trapped inside. I dread the winter everyyear. Im always tired, always dreading getting up.

SAD :bblol: I may have a bit of that too; I love the holidays, but I hate the cold! Luckily we don't get much if any snow here though.

I'm with ya ladies! At my job by the time I get to work the sun is peeking out but jsut barely by the time I get off work its gone down again, I can glimpse it out the window but don't get to feel the effects of it myself, (and theres nothing better than a brisk but sunny winter day!)
Hopefully some of the weekends will prove sunny so at least I can get a weekly dose of viatamin D:winktongue:

I live in Sacramento, California where we don't get snow... and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the rain, I just don't like being cold. So, I can't say I've got SAD. I am one of those people who see snow as a rare treat.

I get SAD too. It's already dark here and its not quite 5:00. I hate it and it really, really messes with my mood. I'm already in a kind of crummy situation and the winter coming isn't helping it.

Although, I am looking forward to Christmas.

you dont even know! I live in Illinois where we get ice storms and everything is shut down because of ridiculous amounts of ice. I live right by St. Louis, so I know about SAD lol. But I do love Christmas

I actually put "Ski trip with Matt and Jeremi" on my Christmas list and sent it to Matt, Jeremi (Matt's brother), and Matt's mom :) I can't wait to go skiing this year!

Where are you from?

I also dread the onslaught of winter. I am pretty much of a homebody to begin with but add some cold, some snow and limit the amount of daylight and it just makes me want to stay in bed.

When I was younger, I would go skiing. Now I stay inside and craft or paint. Do you have any hobbies? Does your place need redecorating?

I 'm not very good at it, but I love the atmosphere of it all. Infact, I will ski to the bottom of the hill and hang out in the lodge drinking tea while Doug ski's. We have 2-way walkie talkies and he will tell me to order his drink cause he will be there any moment. lol

One time we were at Tahoe skiing and I thought I saw him out front, so I radio'd him saying "I see you", the voice on the other end says "Oh no, you don't." Apparently it wasn't him..lol

LOL that's great. Matt and I haven't even been skiing together yet, nor fishing and both are my passions. :( I'm not too great at skiing either, especially now that it's been almost 4 years since I've gone :( So we're planning on going *somehow* this winter. I think we said that last winter, come to think of it :irked:

I love the walkie talkie idea! I'm so going to have to do that! Where'd you ski in Tahoe?

What's up with the tea??? Apres ski doesn't involve tea  It's either a mulled wine, hot cider or hot chocolate. Pfffft amateurs :)

Sorry the winter gets you so down. It doesn't make me the happiest, either, but I think I prefer it over summer. Yup, I'm one of those weird ones that likes the in-between temperatures. I love the middle to late spring days and the early to middle fall days. I've often wondered if I'd be best living somewhere like Seattle.... which if I've heard right is usually cooler, but not too cold and not too hot. But, I think I'm "stuck" in Minnesota, where it's possible to get a range of just about all temperatures, depending on what time of year it is.

I'm not sure about outdoor winter activities; I tend to avoid being outside if I can when it's cold. I do actually still enjoy things like building snowmen and having (gentle) snowball fights. I can't ski or ice skate, and I know I'd hate ice fishing. I've also tried tubing, which is a lot of fun, but I absolutely hate the tow rope... I can never get a good grip on it. I even caused it to stop running once, but that's another story for another time...haha.
