grr I already typed this whole thing out with pictures and then my internet explorer closed it.... so here we go again!

On Monday we brought Rae home! She weighs in at just over 3lbs (Wrigley is just over 6lbs but looks massive compared to her).

We adopted her from a lady who has to relocate back to China for her job. She said she didn't want to take her with her because with the China airlines they aren't very good with pets and don't really care if they make it or not. She said she has heard horror stories about the pets dying and them pretty much saying so what. She didn't want to pet her through that and chance her not making it so she decided to give her up.

We met with her last Friday so we could see if her and Wrigley would get along. She also wanted to meet us in person so she could decide if we could give her a loving home. She decided we could/would.

Her name is actually Rainer- she bought her from a puppy store and it was pouring down rain that day... she knew that she was probably the product of a puppy mill and said she never dreamed of buying a dog from a puppy store because she didn't want to support the puppy mills but she said she felt sooo bad for her because she couldn't even stand up in the crate because the crate holes were too big for her little self. So she was sleeping in her food bowl!

I'm not fond of the name Rainer, so we have been calling her Rae for now, which she seems to respond to. We are still debating on creating our own name for her in addition to Rae/Rainer.

Now for some pictures! Introducing Rae!!

On the way home from picking her up:

Her previous mom sent her with a ton of stuff! Including a ton of clothes. If you don't know clothes for Yorkies are more than just looking cute. Yorkies have hair, not fur. so if our heads are cold, her whole body is cold. So while yes I am one who thinks they look cute all dressed up, the sweaters/coats do serve a real purpose lol.
It was a nice 74 in our apartment last night and without a sweater on she was shivering! lol
Some clothes her previous mom send with her (23 shirts/outfits! lol)

Awwww...congrats on Miss Baby Rae! She is precious and looks like she fits right in! Wrigley scored on the toys too didn't he? You can tell that Rae was loved very much and the fact that her former "mom" let you adopt her speaks volumes about you and your DH!

hey jacklynn congrats on your new furbaby! She is too cute!

I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of information online about yorkies, like their temperments, how well they would handle apartment living, how hard are they to care for (ie with all that hair, nails etc.) I really love how cute they are and right now Fh and I are debating between a yorkie or a dachshund.
I dont have allergies per se but would prefer a puppy without alot of shedding(right now at my parents we have our mutt puppy Daisy and despite regular baths and trips to the groomers she sheds like crazy and I think it it affecting my sinuses alittle) anyway anything you could tell about them to help in my decision making would be greatly appreciated..

Or any one else for that matter that has advice or info on the subject that could help me decide. We aren't getting in the apartment until February & I won't be moving in until May so we still have awhile before we would be bringing a fur baby into the house. Thanks in advanced!

I'll send you a PM!
But I'll say that I LOVE having yorkies. They are a hyper breed, but sooo loving. They aren't really aware that they are little. Well Wrigley doesn't know he is little, Rae certainly knows she is little and she is the princess of the world.

Thanks, we think he is cute too ;) He is only a little over 5 months old, so while he is nearly full grown his coloring will probably change a little. Most yorkies turn a blueish gray/silver where the black on their back is. Some stay dark, but most do turn as they enter adulthood.
