Reading posts about having a Nap. I was wondering how many hours everyone gets to sleep at night.
I'm lucky if i get Five Hours. Even on My day off.
I get up early. (4.30am with DH) and don't go to bed until gone Midnight.
DH gets home from work and manages to get a Nap on the sofa most nights. Infact He's there as i type this LOL.
Wish i could do that. :whyme:

I have to say I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to sleep, I have a county job so I work 8-5 M-f with weekends off (speaking of which we have a holiday tomorrow Veterans Day, we'll probably go down town & watch the parade or go to the Battleship). I usually stay up til around 9 or 930 and get up around 515 or 530 depending on if they are offering OT at work or not. But last night I was so sleepy for some reason, I went to bed at a 1/4 til 9 and slept clean through til my alarm at 600!

I have problems falling asleep at night because I can't turn my mind off. So, maybe about 6 hours on a weekday, more like 8 on the weekends when I can sleep in later.

Let's see, I go to sleep anywhere from 10 to midnight and wake up around 6ish. I wake up at 6ish, I'm NOT a happy person, but awake. Lol.

right now I am getting about 3 hours and thats because I am sick. My nose gets too congested and I wake up about 7 times a night.
But usually I get a little less than 8 hours
This depends on my shift. All last week I was getting about 5 on average... I had to get up at 3:30 but getting of work at 2pm was sooo worth it! This week I'm getting at least 6 hours a night, maybe a little more. I tend to be tired no matter how many hours I get LOL.

Right now I am getting about 6. All of my classes start at 8 and I can't fall asleep before a certain time....my mind is just all over the place. In January I will be in big trouble because my clinicals start at 7, meaning even less sleep than I get now!
I usually get about 8 hours. I try to for health reasons, but beyond that I just feel like crud if I don't.

This is actually one of my problems right now--my sleep schedule is so messed up because as a grad student work hours are anytime, anywhere, and too often those of us working together are on so many schedule variations that sometimes I may not get to working until 10pm, or sometimes I have to get up at 6:30am. Right now I go to bed anywhere from midnight to 4am and get up anywhere from 7:30-10am. Ideally I'd go to bed at midnight-ish and get up at 7-8am. We'll see if I can ever get back on that kind of track.

Yeah, I look forward to the day when I can have a more consistent sleep pattern. I have to be at work anywhere from 7 am to noon so I'm always waking up at different times.

I really need 8 hours, otherwise I'm shot. I go to bed long before FH and usually get up around the same time. Yet he functions somehow!

I suspect that as soon as I start getting treatment for whatever is wrong (going through some tests right now) I'll start to sleep less.
Right now I have an abnormal pattern, although I've always needed a good solid 8-9 hours of sleep to feel good and rested.
Now, I sleep about 9-10 hours at 'night' (because I'm nocturnal I tend to sleep from 3am-ish to noon-ish) PLUS a 1-3 hour nap during the day.
That's what signaled there was something wrong! I'm not depressed, but I probably have something up with my thyroid, because I'm tired ALL THE TIME nowadays.
I hope the tests will find something!

I don't sleep at night. I work the graveyard. Otherwise during the day, I average 6+ hours. Don't want to drift off, while driving my Peterbilt.

I get 0 hours of sleep a night. I usually sleep during the day because of my overnight work schedule. Even if I have a night off, I stay up all night... unless I've got 3 or 4 nights off in a row, then I sleep at night. But, as I found out today, that also isn't great 'cause then I get used to sleeping when it's dark again and can't sleep with the light.
Grrrr. I need a day job so I can sleep at night with my fiance.
Anyway, back to the question. I typically sleep 9 or 10 hours. I'm also starting to wonder, as Whitewater is, if I've got thyroid problems. My grandpa does, my dad does... and I've got the same symptoms.
Ahhh, Sleep! My favorite! During the week I try to go to bed about 9:30-10:00 and I get up about 6 am. Weekends I still get up at six (the pooches schedule don't change on a weekend) and then I hit the couch for an afternoon nap, if I am lucky it would be both days, Saturday and Sunday. :)

It's hard to say. I work until either 2 or 3 am and have a lot of trouble winding down after that so sometimes I can't fall asleep until 6...and the nights I don't work my body is still all messed up so I'm awake anyway. I guess I usually sleep between 6-10 hours, but it really varies.

Right now I am lucky to get 5 hours a ngiht. I have made myself not go to bed untl I am tired and can fall asleep when I lay down. If I go to bed just because it is late and I should I will toss and turn and my head runs wild that I can't fall sleep. Have been dealing with a few things so my head is full. So I stay up once every one else has gone to bed and relax and veg out and wait till I am tired enough to fall sleep. Then I have to get up to get the kids ready for school so I can't sleep in. I tend to catch up on some sleep on the weekends when my husband is home to get up with the kids.

I do not function well if I go an extended period of time with little sleep. Right now I am getting about 5 1/2 and that is way to little for me. I think that I function best on 8....

My job requires me to stay up until at least 11:30 and I have to wake up at 6. So no more than 6.5 hours a night. Some times I get a nap in during the day.

My issue isn't wanting to sleep, or being tired, or not having the time to sleep...I usually wake up a dozen or so times a night and I am completely conscious when I do. And that doesn't count getting up to go to the bathroom. I feel like an old woman! I want to sleep 9-10 hours, but I only get about 5-6 when I'm lucky and it's more like an hour then wake up, then another hour then wake up...

7-8 hours during the week. On the weekends, 9-10 hours. Love sleeping in!

On a good night 6 1/2 - 7 hours..
On average though, 5 - 6
FH and I are fortunate to have jobs where we work 7:30-4ish so our sleep schedule would be something we could control..

I'm lucky if I can get 4-5 hours a night. I've had a sleeping disorder since I was a kid and have been on and off sleeping meds for as long as I can remember. The meds I'm currently on have stopped working and I'm kind of dreading going back for a different prescription. I would be able to get around 9 hours of sleep a night if I didn't wake up about 6 times throughout the night.

I usually sleep 7.5 - 8 hours. I get really sick if my sleep schedule gets thrown off, either by sleeping in or not getting enough sleep!

Sleep, what's that? I think I normally get 7 hours a night. But rarely is it uninterrupted.
