I don't think I've seen this asked here before, so I thought I'd ask.

I am left handed. :)

I am right-handed but I do some house chores (e.g. vacuuming) with my left hand. No idea why!

I'm right handed, but there are certain things I do with my left hand, like eat. I'm convinced I was trained to be rightie...in kindergarten I was painting a picture and my teacher kept moving the brush to my right hand. It didn't feel right and I couldn't paint how I wanted so I kept switching it to the left, and she'd come and move it again. My parents are both right but my brother is left... and I guess I'm just somewhere in between, but not fully ambidextrous.

Growing up, 3 out of 7 of us turned out left handed (my mom, my brother and myself). My ex and I are both left handed.

People accused me of "making" my daughter left handed because I am left handed. Now if this was possible, then why wasn't I able to "make" my son left handed as well??? LOL

If you think about it .... if I was training my kids to favour either hand, it would be to favour their right hand. After all, I sat across the table or in front of their highchair and passed the spoon into their right hand.

I used to be left handed until we had some old lady as a sub in kindergarten and she was under the impression that being a lefty was the sign of the devil and wouldn't let me use it. I have been a righty since then. Although I do do somethings with my left.

Umm, both, sorta. I don't know if I'm ambidextrous, but I only do certain things with certain hands. For instance, I usually write with my right hand, but I only use silverware for eating with my left hand. I prefer to do most things with my left if I have a choice. I don't know.

I'm a lefty and so is FH. As a lefty I still wonder why they bothered to make left-handed scissors for kids in school. The right-handed scissors worked better for me!

Bit of both.

I write with My Right.

Eat with My Left.

Had to get one of those can openers that sit on top of the can so i can open it with My Left Hand. I couldn't find a normal opener with the handle on the Left.

Stubborn jars i use both hands until it opens.

And i hold My Ciggie in My Right Hand. But in My Left when typing.

I'm just weird :bbeek:

Lefty for writing and eating. I despise writing in spiral notebooks!!!! Such a PITA. LOL

In elementary school, they only had baseball/softball gloves for right-handed people, and both of my parents were right-handed, so I grew up playing softball as a righty. I can switch hit, but I'm much more comfortable batting right. I absolutely can not throw with my left either.

FH is right-handed.

Lefty! I'm as left handed as most righties are right handed... I don't do that half-ambidextrious thing as well as the rest of my lefty friends. All of my boyfriends were left handed, except my fiance. Go figure :)

I'm the same way. I only use my left hand for things. Except with canopeners, I've never had a problem with using a right-handed can opener. Maybe it's because I get the stability of holding it with my left hand... I dunno.

I am right handed but if I try I can do almost everything with my left too. Although my left hand writing is no that goodlooking as my right.

Mine too! I'm a righty. I can't do anything with my left hand, except dribble and shoot. Dad's left handed and one of my nephews can do things with both but we're a pretty right handed clan.

I'm right handed but can do things with my left like when I'm scrap booking. RC is right handed but he can pitch right or left handed as well as switch hit.

Yay for the poll! Lefties are actually winning so far?!

Whitewater
12-07-2008, 05:57 AM
actually, with me being ambidextrous, the poll is completely even, which surprised me.

Yeah, I'm ambi. When I was learning to write in Catholic school, I had to sit on my left hand or else the nuns would punish me, so I suspect that I'm ambi merely because I never got the chance to actually be left handed.

Interestingly enough, I *can* write with my left hand, though it's a slow and labourous process -- but the letters look exactly like the model letters we were all taught out of those 'cursive' exercise books, while my typical right-handed writing has de-volved into a semi-literate scrawl.

I can also throw a ball with my left hand, though it's not as good as with my right -- and I often find myself naturally using both hands when cooking, shopping, painting, typing, whatever. That's so natural to me that I never even realized that most people only use their primary hand -- I only figured that out in my mid to late 20's! Because I'd been so used to doing whatever it was with whatever hand was most, well, *handy* and not worrying about whether it was right or left.

I suspect that Fiance is completely right handed, though. I've never seen him use his left hand as easily as I do.

I never think of this in advance and then I get annoyed at the right handed people that take up my space...haha. I should start watching these things...
