This is a continuation of the thread 'Feeling'. I thought I might as well start a new thread all about New Zealand. If you would like to know anything about New Zealand feel free to ask and I'll try and answer for you or do some research to find the answer for you. (Come on I don't know everything there is to know about this country.)

The people of New Zealand are known as New Zealanders or Kiwis

There are 3 islands that make up New Zealand. North Island, South Island and Stewart Island (the little one right at the bottom.

The first map shows the provinces in New Zealand. I am originally from Southland and I'm now living in Canterbury. The second map shows some cities and towns. I used to live near Gore and now live in Christchurch.

In New Zealand we have different accents too.
You can tell if someone is from the province of Southland because they roll there r's. I really don't get what they're on about because I can't really tell the difference, but I guess it has a different sound to it because I get heaps of comments about it. Especially when I was living in Auckland which is at the opposite end of the country where I'm from.

This is a Kiwi with its egg. (yes the egg is rather large.)

There are several different species of Kiwis like the South Island Brown Kiwi, North Island Brown Kiwi, Great Spotted Kiwi and the Little Spotted Kiwi.

Thanks for the info, Hayley!!! Are you guys part of Australia in any way? Is a New Zealand accent close to an Australian accent? Do you ever go to Australia? Is it close to you?

New Zealand is NOT part of Australia in any way. Australia is NZ's closest neighbour. I have never been there. To fly from Christchurch to the Gold Coast (which is a popular holiday destination in Aussie just south of Brisbane) it takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to fly there.

The accents are quite different.

The population of New Zealand is estimated to be 4,137,628 andis estimated to increase by one person every 19 minutes and 23 seconds.

The population for Christchurch in 2001 (sorry couldn't find a more recent date) is 334,107.

Wow thats a long flight! I think it only takes about 24 hours to get from where I'm at to Australia but I'm not sure I'll ever go! lol. I was supposed to go a few years back on a farm exchange but I didn't do it because I met my one and only!! :)

When I was 9 my Nan took me to Disneyland and from Auckland I think it was a 13 hour flight to LA.
