To those of you who did programs I have a couple questions:

1) Did you do one for each guest or one per family?

2) Where did you get your templete or how did you come up with your design/layout?

3) For those of you that made your own, would you do again or should I just order/buy some instead of making them myself?

I made my programs myself. I wanted a fan program, but since I'm having a winter wedding, I didn't think it would be appropriate. So I came up with something a little better. I will be giving one per family. And I'm so glad I did them myself... They are exactly what I wanted.

I am in the process of making my own programs. I got the idea for my programs at a bridal expo. It is called a stacker (I think I have a picture posted in my wedding journal). I am doing one per family. My sister convinced me of this because she said guys just don't care about programs so I shouldn't waste my time making one for each person. I am definitely glad I did them myself because I love how they turned out! I feel that my programs are unique and they coordinate with my invitations. Plus I love to do crafty stuff so I wouldn't have it any other way. My guests would be disappointed if I hadn't done them myself.

I made one per couple/family. I made mine myself, but I am really into crafts and crapbooking, so I would not have had it any other way.

I did not do anything too complicated, it was 11x14 sheet folded in half with all of the stuff on it.

I'm doing program fans. I haven't officially started them yet, so I'm not sure if I'll regret it in the end. I am planning on doing roughly one or two per family/couple.

I am doing my own. I'm actually doing them for 2/3 of my guest count because I have a lot of single friends and I have lots of family members who will probably take two for saving and scrapbooking and the like.

I'm just going to buy the DIY program kits from Crane & Co. I think it comes with basic formatting info. I have saved programs from at least half a dozen different weddings I've been to so that's what I'm kind of using as a guideline for what to include.

Since I haven't done them yet I don't I don't know if I'll regret it, but a good friend HIGHLY recommended it to me. She did them for her wedding and said it was one of the best things she did for her whole wedding.

I am making my own, also. Because of the work involved, I am only making one per couple/family. I layed out the inside of my programs in Quark, which is a program we use for laying out our newspapers. It makes it soooo much easier.

I made my own - just simple ones, mostly to let the guests know what the itinerary was for the day. I made one more couple, but they hardly got handed out and I have sooo many leftover.

I just made my own template in InDesign - 2 programs per page and printed double sided copies as the program.

I ordered blank ones on ebay with a pretty cover and we'll print them ourselves. I bought 100 (our guest list is at 128-25 of them won't show for sure and then there will probably be a few more), so each guest can have one if they want, but I know from experience there will be couples who just take one or whatever, so I think I'm safe.

We did about 1 per guest minus the amount of children that we invited. Then we added on about 15 extra just in case.

I am not very good with computer programs so I just messed around with printing out a few examples until I got it right. I looked online for ideas of what to put on each page.

I really enjoyed making them and would do it again. It was my personal touch since we didn't DIY very much.

We had an opaque page on top with little sparkly flecks in it. Just under that was the cover and then other 3 pages. I wish that I had a better close up picture.

Thanks everyone!

So for those of you that made your own - did you use regular cardstock or the program paper that you can buy?

I had a cousin and they just used regular white printing paper (although it may have been blue now that I think of it) but I don't want that as I found that they were flimsy and kind of looked cheap (IMO).

I've seen some nice brown ones on ebay - which would match nicely with the invites that I got but they are super expensive. Michaels' does have the fan ones to match my invites so maybe I will go that route.

I just want them to look "crafty" and elegant and nice not something rushed and put together.

The only "program" paper I've seen is white or ivory so is regular cardstock ok?

I love the idea of making my own, but I'm soooo not crafty or computer savvy. I'm just going to sort of hope for the best. :)

I'd love to see what you come up with when you figure out what you want to do!

I used scrapbook paper for my covers. It's a heavier paper with a pretty swirly metallic design on the front and then the reverse side is plain. I bought a heavy weight paper to do my inside pages. Hope that helps.

What ones did you get on ebay? I've seen some good deals there but I'm not sure what they are like. Have you received them yet? I really like some of the calla lily ones.

I did receive them, rather FH did since they were sent to him. They fit with the grey scheme of our save the dates.

I went through that same thing. I debated about ones I saw in stores, doing my own, having them printed and the I found a happy medium. You'll find something that works for you. :)

Hi!

I got programs that you can print yourself at Party City on clearance for $1.00 for 100. I'm going to put on an aqua cardstock cover that I got at JoAnn Fabrics for $0.16 a sheet and finish it off with ribbon. I may or may not add those little flowers I found in bottles at Michael's and Archivers. I want to put a love letter from that book in the Sex and the City movie in the program as well.

I made my own fan wedding programs, which were a lot harder to make than other types of programs. I made enough programs for about 75% of the total guest number (which was around 150), and we still had a ton left. I think one per couple/family would have been plenty. I got my template from wedding-paper-products. There are templates for fan programs and layered programs on that site.

I had this whole awesome reply typed out and went to go take pics of my programs and it was GONE!

Anyway, Hi! I'm going to try this again.

I made my own save the dates and I'm making the programs and invited as well. I like fiddling with the computer and layouts so it's no big for me. And because I'm crafty and junk I enjoys this kind of stuff anyway.

1) Did you do one for each guest or one per family?
I'm doing one per family, but because I know there'll be some aunts who want another one -I have no clue why- I'm planning on making 5 more than the amount of wedding invites I send out.

2) Where did you get your templete or how did you come up with your design/layout?
I looked around on *******.com a lot and looked at what other brides and couples did. I made notes on a few ideas I liked and blanded them into something I'd like for us.
I found this awesome aqua card stock (aqua's one of our colors) 8.5x11. I'm just going to cut it in half (8.5x5.5) and then fold it in half into a card.
I also found velum sheets at Hobby Lobby on sale a few months back so I'm using that for the cover.
I used ebay to find the perfect shade of green for my ribbon. And since I'm a jewelry maker I have tons of pearls that I plan to use for an accent on the cover.

3) For those of you that made your own, would you do again or should I just order/buy some instead of making them myself?
In a heart beat.

PS. These are NOT the final product just yet, so they will look better put together then -I hope.

I'm doing fan programs(both paddle and fold out). I was told to do enough programs for about 65% of your guests. Most couples grab one program. Kids aren't really going to grab programs. One bride made only one fan per female guest and none for the males. She said she still had some left over. I have templates for both in my bio. http://sites.google.com/site/travisandmarronasplanningbio/attire/accessories-hair-and-makeup/flowers/ceremony-inspiration/paper-diy

On the other hand if you are having someone personally hand out programs to guest I'd do one for each adult. If you are having them sitting in a basket by the door I'd go with the 65% rule or one per female guest rule.
