Hey there.

I'm 18 years old, I have two sisters, one is getting married in August next year. She lives in PA and I live in TX, so she's coming down this month to celebrate her engagement party. It's just going to be small, including the immediate family. My question is, I have no idea what to get her, and what are some good ideas? I was thinking about getting her a wedding planner, but it seems too expected. I'm very close to my future bro-in-law so any gift would be fine. I was thinking about buying them two seperate gifts, but that defeats the purpose of it being an engagement presents.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, thank you :o

I think a wedidng planner is an awesome idea personally. Sounds kind of expensive also. What about paying for their engagement photos?

Typically engagement gifts are not required.

However if you want to and can afford it, I think paying for a wedding planner would be a great gift for any bride to be.

Or maybe just go a simple and less expensive route and get them a bottle of champagne and a nice card.

I just got engaged, and I have an 18 y/o sister that lives in another state whom I'm very close with. She's in college and works, but I remember being in her exact situation, feeling broke as a joke, and fretting over even small purchases. I would love to get anything from her as an engagement gift but I also understand her financial situation.

I would suggest something that is personal to her and you. That doesn't necessarily mean something expensive, but something meaningful. And I don't think it needs to be "wedding" related either.

I'm sorry this isn't more specific...

Honestly, your thought is all that counts! You don't necessarily need to get them a gift, but maybe a nice frame with a picture of yourself with them might be nice. Something sentimental is ALWAYS a great gift. :)

Congrats to your sister.

Do you have a fun picture of the three of you that you could put in a nice frame? One of my friends did that for us and I love it.

Mostly we got cash as engagement gifts, but I did get one of those "bride and groom" cookbooks that I LOVE. It was something we can both enjoy (although I do most of the cooking and he does most of the eating!)

My only other suggestion would be maybe a gift certificate for a couple's massage.

Agree that engagement presents are never required. You will more than likely be shelling out for lots of bridal shower, wedding presents and wedding attire if you are in the wedding. Send a lovely card and make a thoughtful toast at the engagement party.
