As we closeer and closer to our wedding date I have so many thoughts and to do list in my head that I feel that journaling everything may be just what I need. I would also like to be able to bounce thoughts and ideas off of everyone.
Some background
Robert and I met a little more than 5 years ago in college. We were next door neighbors at the time and became instant friends. It wasn't for another 9 months that we actually started dating. Four years later, a graduation, new jobs, and a change of scenery we are on the road to getting married.
The Proposal
We had made the trip to Cabo San Lucas for his brother's wedding. After a couple of days of adventure, weddings, and sun we were exhausted. Two nights before we returned home, Robert called me out onto the terrace over-looking the ocean. Of course I went out asking some silly question about my camera not working. To my surprise, when I looked up he was down on one knee with the ring in hand.

We are a little more than 3 months away to take off. I am almost done with ALL of the planning. I wanted to make sure I got the majority of things done before the holidays came. They still snuck up on me with invitations and favor/centerpiece boxes to assemble.....BTW any unique suggestions on a favor to put in the little favor boxes is welcome.
But some GREAT news came last night. The bridal store called to tell me my dress is in and ready to pick up! My sister/MOH is going with me to pick it up tomorrow. And it is 3 weeks early! I finally get to see what it will look like with the shoes.
Here is a picture of the dress. What do you think?

I went to pick up my dress last night and it is tad too big. Luckily, my FSIL is coming to the rescue for some inexpensive altertations.....we hope. Here are some pictures of me in the dress.

Here are the boxes I bought. I have half in tiffany blue and half in silver (which are my colors). I am going to find some nice ribbon to tie around them and attach a label like the one attached. I also attached a picture on how I am going to arrange the boxes to be my centerpieces.
As far as a budget, I would like to keep it under $1 a person. The cheaper the better. I am thinking about candy such as kisses or something, but I have also found a woman at a bridal show that sell wickless candles. She has a small sample of them and I believe they cost .90 ea. I got the sample in July and it still smells great. The website for that is www.scentsy.com (http://www.scentsy.com)

Today is not such a great day so far. I decided to give the bridal store a call that sold me my dress. The 'expert' that sold me the dress told me to order a size that would fit me perfect....with no alterations. So I bought a dress a bit more that I started to but figured I don't have to have alterations so it all works out.....Not so much. As I mentioned before, it is an entire size too big...the smaller one would have been perfect!
When I talked to the guy, he told me if I were to re-order the dress it would be the 2nd week in March before it came in.....my wedding is in February......
He is going to call me back to see if there is something that he can do....Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I took my dress back to the store last night. Once he saw how big it is on me he decided to send the dress back to the designer to have it taken in to the correct size. This will save me a ton in alterations!!!

yah i would really fight that you were told what size to order it in. They will probably try to say that you just lost too much weight though. i brought my dress into my alterations girl and told her to do just the length first, then when i get closer, we will do the take ins. i saw my cousin who did her take in 5 months before have a BIGG problem that way. her alterations were done and fit her still at month 4, she brought it home, tried it on a month before the wedding and it fell off her :)
GOOD LUCK!! at least they are helping out. your very lucky! any word on how long those manufacturer alterations will take?

I have my bridal photos scheduled for Dec 20 and told me it should be back before then. Luckily, that dress came in about 3 weeks early to begin with. I will have a definite date this afternoon. Hopefully it will be good news!

Woo Hoo, I talked to the guy today about my dress. They are sending it back to the designers and they are going to set me up with a new dress in about 3 weeks! It will be here before I go take my pictures!! And I don't have to pay for alterations.....we hope!!
Now that is one less worry on to things like cake toppers.....this what I am thinking. I can get this at *******.com for $7 I think. It comes with instructions on how to add little rhinestones to class it up.

We completed our engaged encounter weekend yesterday. My FH is Catholic and we are required to go through a certain amount of premarital prep to get married in the Catholic Church. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was a little long though. The premise of the weekend was to listen to one of three couples tell a story relating to whatever topic was up. Then we would have to right our FH/FW a "love letter" of sorts pertaining to that topic. We got there Friday night at 7:30 (we stayed at an old convent) for a little meet and greet. After the looooong introductions, they let us go to bed at 11:30. This is the time I got to know my weekend roommate Amanda. After a tough night sleep on a hard bed they woke us up at 7AM. We had discussion and dialouge for most of the day. If we weren't eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner it was discussion and dialouge. The good thing that came out of the weekend is the my fh finally wrote me a real love letter. The discussions were a tad repetative throughout the weekend...which made it drag a little. We got up early on Sunday for a couple more sessions and were able to leave at about 1PM. So we gotten through one more process and one step closer to being married. And we got a certificate that gives us $60 off of our marriage license....which means it will be FREE!

Since I started my journal so late in the game, I haven't really posted any of our details besides the dress. I thought I would share the bridesmaids dresses, decor, etc. in case anyone is interested.

I think ours are discontinued at David's Bridal b/c I can't find it on the website. This is a similar style but cocktail length and ours have rhinstones in the center of the bust. It will be in this color though.

This is what I am hoping my flowers turn out looking like. The girls will have a smaller version of mine.
Oh and I forgot to attach the picture of the dress above.

The barbie cake is the cake I think my sister is getting for my bridal shower.
For my wedding cake I am wanting something similar to this but, I am going to do squares alternating angles. With tiffany blue ribbon and and possibly some sort of bow. My theme has kind of gone from winter to "Breakfast at Tiffanys" Which is great for me b/c I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan, so it works out well!
Luv your colors!
I like the hair design, too!!

It has been a couple of days since I have been able to log on. It has been one of the those weeks. If can happen...it has happened, but I will spare you the details.
Instead I will post some pictures of what I have been working on. I made a bouquet to have for my bridal portraits. What do you think about the handle. Should I keep it how it is or take the blue out and have simpler look?
Also, here are the bags I ordered for my girls. I am adding in a bottle of wine, wine glass, and the topper shown.
My invitation is here too. Sorry it is so bright.

I like the blue in the handle of the bouquet. it makes it pop. I also like your topper. Are you doing a winter theme for your wedding?
kdj0029

It started out as a winter theme and now has gone more towards and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" theme, with all of the boxes and that kind of stuff.

I haven't been able to log on in a few days. My internet at home isn't working and work has been crazy and I have been trying to get over a cold. Just to catch up, I have finished putting all of my invitations together and ordered FH's ring. It came in Saturday. I guess it is official now. We will be stuffing and addressing invites over Thanksgiving holiday. My mom just thought all she had to was cook.... :) My sister has also agreed to practice on my hairstyle for the wedding while I am home sine bridal portraits are in just a couple weeks.
So what is everyone's plans for Thanksgiving?

I am trying to decide on what I want to do for my guestbook. I don't wand a basic, run of the mill guestbook. Here are my options, thoughts?
*make notecards to put at each seat and have them write a note on them. Have someone make sure that there is a digital pic of everyone there and match them up with their notecard and scrapbook that later.
*make really simple pages with open picture slot (maybe one or two guest per page). Guest will sign per page
*use our pictures on the pages and have them sign that
or
*go to www.guestbookstore.com (http://www.guestbookstore.com/) Click on wedding and go from there. It is a pretty cool idea but looks like it would get kind of pricey.
Guestbook Store has an awesome idea ~ and looks very much like an EASY EASY DIY project ~ and I am NOT good at things like that ~ but make a template, make copies at Kinko (in any color you want), place one at each table!
After the wedding you could go as cheap as three-hole punching them into a notebook/style guest book or you could get fancy and put them in a scrapbook...whatever works for you!

That is a great idea! Thanks! I hadn't thought of making a template myself. So simple. I have been working on it. When it is done I will post to see what everyone thinks.
