So my dress is ivory with a champagne colored sash. It is standard for the groom and groomsmen to wear white dress shirts...but it seems weird to me that their isnt going to be any other whites in my wedding aside from their shirts...I'm just afraid their going stick out and look icky.

Will it look ok you think?
Also! What about our wedding pictures after..while my dress is ivory his shirt will be white..I'm probably weird for being picky about it.. :bbcry:

My FH will be in an ivory shirt. I hadn't even thought about it and as I was leaving the store when I bought my dress the consultant said, "Remember, the groom needs an ivory shirt now because if he wears white, you'll look dirty next to him." FH was worried that his shirt would look really creamy or yellowy, but it doesn't. If you didn't see it next to something white, you wouldn't know that it wasn't white itself... but it looks much better by my dress.

Yeah, they have ivory vests and ties, though I have never seen an ivory shirt worn with a tux.

I would definatly get an ivory shirt, it doensnt look any different than white, until you hold up to each other, such as if he takes his jacket off and you get a pic together, then you will notice in the pic. Happened to a friend of mine and it really bugs her in some pics that family took at the reception.

Okaaay then..I guess ivory dress shirts it is! lol
I'll just have to convince the guys that that's what's happening..
Some men these days are soo self conscious of their attire..worse then women :grinhappy:

Thanks for all your input ladies! :jphappy:

My dress is also ivory with a champagne sash and my guys are all wearing ivory shirts with champagne vests and ties (except the groom who is wearing ivory). I am not even going to mention anything to them about it - I'm just going to reserve it at the tux shop, tell them to go get fitted, and have them put on what they pick up from the shop. The only exception is the groom's grandfather who will probably just wear the tux (with white shirt) he already owns!

My dress is champagne and gold. The GM are wearing white shirts with cream vests and ties to match the BM, and FH will be wearing a white shirt with a champagne vest and tie to match me. The ivory shirts just do not look right with the cream vests being offered.

(Plus, since it will be cold, the guys will most likely have their jackets on most of time anyway, so you won't see very much of the shirt. ;) )

this is such a great question! cause i was debating what i was gonna do about the same situation! (my dress is ivory). i kinda think that the not-exactly-white shirts for the guys will look good in pics against your dress!
isnt it funny all the lil details that go into a wedding!

I just picked out the guys tuxes today and they have ivory shirts because my dress is ivory and the girl said the same thing about my dress looking dirty. The people are right you will not be able to tell it is not white unless you hold it up to true white. My FH was stand offish about this too. Guys have no idea about colors. In fact I think he was a little surprised to hear my dress was ivory. He would have NEVER known if this didn't come up. I think they picture yellow in their heads or something. There are so many shades of white and ivory. I would go with the ivory but either way I don't think it will really stand out unless you are right next to each other which you may be in some pictures with your FH. I hate how are all this wedding this seem so big too but you are not weird it happens to all of us. I freak out about things that I never in my life thought would be a big deal. LOL, like the shade of purple I want my roses to be.

I have an ivory dress and the guys are probably wearing white shirts with their black suits. With the suit jacket and dark ties, I didn't think the white vs. ivory would matter. My shoes are even darker than the dress (I'd call them nude). I just bought ones I'd actually wear again.

Totally! And I'm looking at not having the guys wear a completely 'ivory' looking dress shirt, I'm just looking from something that's off-white, because white can be toooo white against ivory :grinhappy: lol

If the groom only wears a white dress shirt with no neckwear then yes, it will make your ivory color dress look like a dirty shade of white.

IMO keep the white dress shirt for the groom. It is the most classic look and will match best with a standard black tuxedo. Choose an ivory color necktie or bow tie for the groom and it will look great!

I hope this helps, and good luck with everything!

My DH wore an ivory shirt as did the groomsman and my dad. They had platinum vests and ties. It looked very elegant.
