I personally like white dresses better than ivory. However if you are torn between the two colors perhaps you should see if ivory or white looks better with your skin tone/ hair color etc. Just go to the bridal store and compare fabrics with you!

Well a dress in white may have a tendency to make you look darker. Are you planning on tanning before the wedding?

I know the feeling! Maybe the white would be better for you then. I know you say your skin is white, but there are different shades of white skin too. Mine is pretty white as well but I have pinkish undertone. Some people have a blueish undertone etc. You need to have someone whom you trust very much look at you in white and ivory and tell you honestly what looks best on your skin. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will look great!

White would make it appear that you are more tan. I do have a suggestion for you. Have you ever tried Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer? They have a type specifically for faired skined tones. It is not like a self tanner. Over the course of a week or so it will make your skin have more color. The color is good though. It is not orange. I really reccommend it.

Jergens is not like a self tanner. It will not turn you orange. It works over a course of time and it is really good. It's a subtule change.
If you do want to tan in the tanning bed I would suggest that you try it out again before doing it close to the wedding. When you go start at like 10 minutes the first session and then progress up to 20 minutes. Make sure you do not have any reactions. Then if it is okay you should probably start tanning a month before your wedding.

Yes I've heard of people with ivory dresses. I believe Amber's dress is ivory. Truthfully I really don't know which one will look better with tan skin. I do know if you are in a white gown you will look more tan than you would normally. Anway, I need to go to sleep now. I'll be back on tomorrow and perhaps some of the other girls will have some more advice. Good night chica!
I had an ivory dress.
Some people suit white, others suit ivory. I think its to do more with you skin tones more than what your tan is like.
I would suggest to go into a store with several of your friends (mother?) and try on a white dress, and then try on a ivory dress (same style if possible otherwise one close to it) so that you (and your helpers) will be able to see straight away which colour suits you. (I've suggested the same style so you can see that it is the colour and not the different style of dress that suits you.)
I was dead set on wearing white but when I tried on an ivory gown (to keep my mother happy) I could see that she was right and that the ivory suited my colourings better.
I hope this helps you.

I agree with the girls who are telling you to try on the ivory and the white and see which one you like the best.
My mom kept telling me ivory was going to look better with my pale skin. I tried on both white and very light ivory - we decided to order my dress in ivory. When they sent the dress to try on, it was white - I loved it, as did my mom. It really depends on the dress too.
Go try them both on and make the decision. You have to be comfortable in what you're wearing, not just go along with what everyone else is telling you. If you're not sure - try them on again. Good luck.

I am fairly pale myself with a pinkish tone. I was worried about what i would look like in a white dress rather then an off white or ivory dress.
The diamond white came and it was perfect. There is more of a difference between me and the dress. The off whites and ivory's blended to much with me.
Good Luck! Try some different colours on. When you have one on take the skirt of another and put it up against your self then compare it to how the other dress is on. You'll know almost immediatly which is better for you!

I have very pale skin also, but I ended up getting an Ivory dress. The white maked me look to washed out. Like some of the ladies said earlier. The only way you will be able to tell for you specific skin type is going to be to try on similar dresses in white and ivory. Hope this help, and let us know what you decide on!

Wedding dress must make us look prettier than the prettiest (http://www.fourseadiamonds.com/forum/wedding-jewelry/694-day-look-prettier-than-prettiest.html) Luckily, I wasnt the one to choose my wedding dress, but my husband did the job, and he knew my taste ( fortunately :p)
