How do I get my florist to understand what color purple roses I want? There are so many. She gave me some put they are pinkish purple. I want a dark purple or lavender with out pink hues in them. I only need six for my bouquet all the rest of the flowers are tulips. If she says she can't get another color would it be rude if I bought the ones I wanted her to use the day before from somewhere else and give them to her for her to use? Thank you!

Speaking as a florist who used to work in a floral shop and then owned her own in home floral business for a while, I would say that it would be best for you to take her a sample of the variety of rose that you want. Get the name of the rose so that she can ask her wholesaler if they can get that particular rose. If you can find them locally at another shop, she should be able to get them as well.
Now, keep in mind that she has buy in bulk- so even though your bouquet might only need 6 roses, she will have to buy a minimum of 25. Even though you will be paying a retail price for your 6 roses, that cost will not cover her wholesale cost for the entire 25. This might be part of the problem if she doesn't feel that she can sell the others. I would be leary of letting the bride bring in outside roses into my shop for her bouquet, because I wouldn't have any way of knowing how those roses were processed from the wholesaler or how old they were. It would be just my luck that those roses (which can be temperamental when placed in a foam holder) would die in the bouquet while the rest of the flowers were perfect. I don't think that is a chance I would take. I would much rather try to get the flowers myself so I knew their history.

Can you find a picture of the purple you want and send it to her? A picture of anything would work, just as long as the shade is what you want :)

When I used to help in a flower shop we'd ask for a swatch sample for matching ribbons and such. If you want a particular flower you should know the name of it or at least have a picture of what you want.
If you want a flower in an unnatural color and it has to be died or something you should bring in a fabric swatch. Ask the florist how close they can get to the color you want and then go from there.

I finally got a hold of her today. She told me she can get five different colors and ones without the pink hue so that made me feel a lot better. She said that I can pick the ones I want about two weeks before the wedding. I am guessing she said this because she will know which ones are in the best shape and can offer me those to choose from at that time.

I think the rose you are looking for is the Sterling. It's a medium lavender color (no pink hues) - and absolutely beautiful!!
There are no dark purple roses unless they are artifically dyed. If you want to add some dark purple accents to the bouquet, then I would suggest lisianthus whose color is breathtaking!
Have a happy wedding!!

Yes the sterling is what I am looking for. It is beautiful! No, I don't want purple just not pinkish purple. The lisianthus is also very pretty but it comes in different shades too. Thank you so much for your help!

Yeah, sterling roses! I knew the purple roses had a name, they are lovely :)
There is also another purple shade rose, it is called blue something, but it is actually more purple; although it does have some pink in it if I remember correctly.
EDIT: The "blue" roses are Blue Curiosa Roses; may not work for you since they have a pink hue though. But in general dark pink also goes well with the lavender/purple :)
