We took Bo to get his shots today, and he did really good. She took a blood sample and found that he has heartworms. We had an appointment for Friday to get him neutered, but we are going to have to change that to get him a treatment for his heartworms later this week. She said it should be taken care of before any surgeries. Thankfully he's in the early stages of it she said.

Poor thing; HW treatment can be expensive and take several treatments. Hope for the best for you guys!

Thanks. The first one is going to cost about $195 and I think she said he'll just need 2 treatments. Hopefully that's all.

Poor Bo! If it's any consolation, our oldest girl (who was about 6 when we adopted her six years ago) was HW+, and after she went through the treatments, you would never know she had been so sick!
We'll be thinking about Bo as he goes through his treatment!

Thanks everyone! Bo had an adventure today! I let him out this morning while I was getting ready for work. When I went to let him in he wasn't anywhere to be found! I was freaking out, and so we got in the car and drove around for a while looking for him. Couldn't find him, so I went to the pound where we got him and they said no one had turned him in. So I went on to work at 11. Chris called the police dept to let them know before he went to work. I got home about 30 min ago, and there he was tied up waiting for me! Someone found him, and knew where to take him.

Oh wow! I am so glad you got him back! My little Sofia escaped out the back door once and I went searching for her all night! I was terrified, so I know how you felt when you couldn't find him. The same thing happened, a lady had found her down the street and I picked my little girl up! Again, I am sooo happy you got him back! :D

I have to take him to the vet tomorrow for his heartworms treatment, he's staying overnight, so I'll miss him tomorrow. But its okay because its best for him. He's getting his nails clipped too, they are really long! Lol.

So sorry to hear this. We went through this with our dog ditto. She was a rough case she went through a series of two immiticide injections (at the rescue shelter), and then another 3 almost 2 years later and she finally cleared them. I hope Bo is doing better soon, its a very painful process for the dog. Feel free to pm me anything because I became somewhat of on expert on the subject going through this with her.
