I made the first of two pearl wreaths for the outside of the church this weekend. I don't have pictures yet, but trust me, it's really gorgeous!
I took a white foam wreath form, wrapped it with an ivory sheer ribbon, then took pearl garlands I found from the Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby (one thing of big pearls, one of little) and alternated 6 rows of little pearls and 3 rows of big ones) all the way around. Rather than gluing them, I just pinned tem with corsage pins that have the pearl heads, so you can't even tell and it made it easier to go back and fix mistakes. I had a few spots that aren't exactly "even" becasue I had a few holes that I had to fill in with a few extra pearls, but when I got all done you couldn't even tell.
I'll hang them with some wide champagne colored ribbons on either side of the center doors to the church (we have three sets) I think the one I did cost me maybe $15
I had some of each size left over, but not enough to do the second one, so I'll probably use the leftovers as vase filler or something (I had to cut the garland so it's in several small pieces now and really doesn't qualify as garland anymore!).
