Save the Date!

So I have a questions. We're not engaged yet, but we were talking about save the date cards. Considering we're from 2 states which are over 4000 miles apart we figured we will NEED save the date cards/magnets in order to get the people from his state up here to alaska since we plan on having the wedding here. Our question is do we send it to EVERYONE or do we just send it to people we know will need to plan in advance? Like people in Alaska, do we need to send save the dates to them in addition to the obvious invitations. Thanks in advance! :D

I'm planning a wedding 3000 miles away from where I live and most of family, if they come, will have to travel. That said, I sent a save the date card to everyone on our guest list. Some people needed to know this far in advance (the wedding is in August), so they could plan to have time off. Our save the dates also had our wedding website on it, so people can keep updated on what's going on with us.

I'd agree with sending them to everyone...you never know who might need one for sure or not.
