Hello Ladies!
Just wondering if anyone else felt the shift of activity on Oneweb? It might be just me but I feel like the activity has gone down. I know we have two ladies that just got married and quite a few that are down to days, but I was wondering if anyone else felt this way?
I guess I just miss everyone....LOL! : )

I know i haven't been online as much or as often lately because i have been so busy with getting ready to put my condo on the market and company visiting.
Hopefully i should be able to get online a little more now that the Condo is on the market and i will be spending more time job searching and finishing up the last of the things i need to design for the wedding.

I haven't been on much lately either, the weather has been so nice that me and the kids spend every minute outdoors, lol
I love this time of year!
but the last couple days haven't been to nice, cloudy/windy and rainy....
I hope to be on more tho!

I'm with you Amber. I've noticed it too. I think it may be because the days are getting nicer for everyone and they spend time outside more. I just got out of school and have a 2 1/2 week break until I go back so until then I'll be here a lot.

It's weird, once I got married, I feel out of place on a lot of posts!
I feel sad that I'm not planning a wedding anymore, although it's nice to just relax and enjoy life a bit.
I still come on everyday, but I don't post as often as I used to.

Amber & I were just talking about this, whether we will be back here once Amber is married. I think our general consensus was that we wouldn't. I think we feel exactly like Shawna, how we won't be planning anymore and to just let the new brides take over the reins. I do know one thing though, I want to stay long enough to see all the brides, that are coming up right after Amber, get married. After seeing all their plans all these months, I don't want to leave without seeing their wedding pictures. That's when I will probably be through.
However, like Kacie says, I love to hear from the married women who have been there done that. I think you have so much experience to share with us who have not done it yet.

I was thinking of other reasons why it has been slow around here too. Carrie has not come back yet or has not posted since she's been back. (This worries me by the way because I thought somebody said she would be back last Wednesday). We lost Wanda :( . Heather wasn't here yesterday, but I noticed she has posted some today.

I think when ur wedding is far away coming on here makes it seem more real - or at least it does for me - i get all excited by everything else going on in here. I suppose when uve then had ur wedding u dont get the same from the forum. Though its still nice to keep in touch with friends who have shared and inspired so much, it probably isnt done so much. Just an idea why maybe its quieter now so many weddings are either very close or already done

I still come on everyday when I get home from work and I normally check in after tea too depending on whats on TV. Evan is away at the moment so I'm always on the computer at the moment. Take today (day off) for example: its 8am and I'm sitting here in my Pyjamas after feeding Keira and letting her inside.
And as it is getting onto winter here the weather has been sh it so I haven't been out taking Keira for walks. Which is still ok at this stage as shes still a puppy and can get enough exercise in the backyard.
When Evan gets home he'll want me too spend time with him and not sit infront of the computer which kind of :censored: me off because I find coming on the computer is relaxing in a way (sometimes if the computer is behaving) and I don't just like dropping everything I like doing just because he is home.
I don't post very often mainly because of the time difference. As most of you guys are all on at the same time you can answer each others posts right away and when I come on normally everyone has said what I would've said so I don't bother posting. Either that or I don't have any advice to help out with.:bbconfused:

Ok, I'm sorry but I have to gush about New Zealand too. How many of us will ever, in this lifetime, converse with someone from New Zealand? You guys, it's 8am in New Zealand!! It's getting onto winter in New Zealand!! It's 1:30pm in Phoenix, Arizona!! It's getting onto summer and it's 101 fricking degrees here in Phoenix, Arizona!! We don't have teatime in the US! Do you know why it's not the same? Teatime is like an event for Hayley. If you go back and read Hayley's post, she says that she checks in with Onewed after tea. Americans don't have coffee time. We just drag our cup of coffee to the computer in order to be able to make some logical sense out of what we are saying in the morning. We don't have a coffee time, we just have a cup of coffee.

We drink tea here too, but mostly people drink it (at least in Texas) as iced tea. A nice ice cold glass of tea is wonderful on a hot day!

I think I'll have skillet arroz con pollo. Here it is...
Heat one tbsp olive oil and add i medium onion and 1 red pepper until tender. Stir in i cup long-grain rice, 1 garlic clove, and 1/8 tsp. ground red pepper. Cook for 2 min. Stir in lemon peel, 1/4 tsp salt, one can chicken broth, and 1/4 cup dry sherry or water. Bioil over med-high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 13 min.
Stir in 1 pd chicken breast tenders; over and simmer 13 minutes longer or until juickes run clear when chicken is pierced with tip of knife and rice is tender, stiring once halfway through cooking time. Stir in one package frozen peas; cover and heat through. Let stand 5 minutes.
Stire in olives and sprinkle with cilantro to serve. pass lemon wedges to squeeze over each serving.
I'll report to you how it tastes later one tonight.

I have heard of a chesterfield. I also think the US named a cigarette after it. Jenn, I think you mean a siesta in Spain. That would be so nice. When I lived in Germany, in the 70's, they would close their shops from noon to 3pm for lunch break. US would never do anything like that, we might miss some lunch time business. ;)

I have heard alot people say things about how I talk. They say I dont say car it sounds more like kah. And they say the way I say wedding is more like wedden. I have a yankee accent. We dont have r's , they say we replace them with the letter h. And things like door yard. People look at me funny. They have o idea what a door yard is. My freinds on line who have heard me talk type that I "pahk my kah in the doah yahd" ( park my car in the door yard ).
Nicholas has some what of a southern accent. Some one said that if we have a child it wont be a yankee or a red neck that it will be a "yank neck".
We also say wicked alot. I hear my kids say it all the time. And Nicholas is saying it now. Like that wind is wicked, or that is wicked cool or wicked scary. Things like that.
I once had a few freind on voice on line. Me from NH a freind from Ohio ( who didnt realy have an accent ), one from Alabama, and one from Australia. Talk about accents. That was fun.

And another thing when we say "what have you been doing" it sounds more like" what ev you been doin". We always drop the g on the ends of words too!

Hey Y'all! I just wanted to chime in on a few things thats been said on this thread. I've been married for almost a year now and I still post here. But from what y'all have been saying, well do you find it weird that I'm still here? That I post so much and such?? I just love coming here, I love weddings and I love wedding photos and I've gotten to know many people who I would consider friends and I would hate to go because I'm married. I also think that I can contribute some times and help people with their problems...am I wrong?? Am I intruding?? Help me out here...now y'all have me wondering.
As far as word pronunciations....Jenn, we never use the word chester field...I think the only time I heard that word was when I lived in Ontario...don't think we use it out west.
I tend to use "Y'all" a lot too, but was born and raised in Canada so I am not totally sure where I got that from.
Now that we have move really far up north, I notice that I have an accent when I am talking to people. I tend to have a drawl to my words, where people up north seem to say what they need to say and be done with it. A lot of words my mom has to get me to repeat because she can't understand what the heck it is that I am saying. I say "care" instead of car alot...but since I drive a truck I don't get too many people laughing at the way I say car because I don't say it very often.
I think the most truely Canadian thing we say is HOUSE. A lot of people say its sounds like hoose or something...but I don't hear it! lol...and of course eh. Yes that is one of my favorite words to be honest!
I also get told that I have an American accent as well...maybe that comes from living close to the boarder in Ontario when my dad was in the military, maybe its from watching too much America tv...I don't know. I went on a date with a guy once he kept saying to me "You aren't Canadian, seriously where were you born???" I kept telling him Canada.
Anyhow...lol...I think thats it for me! lol

LOL, this thread is all over the place *hehe*
Lets see if I can hit on a few topics ... I have heard people call lunch 'Dinner' and dinner 'Supper'
I don't drink tea (hot or cold) I don't say ya'll and such Southern things ... many people don't believe me when I tell them I am from Georgia ;)
I call it a couch most of the time, but I have said sofa too.
So what do you guys call soft drinks? My family says 'coke' even if they want a Sprite :bblol: I say soda mostly.
I too have noticed the board a little slow lately ... also wondered where Carrie was.
I like it here and I am married, in fact I was married when I joined (I think) I first came here to promote my wedding services but I don't do that much anymore. I think I am addicted to forums  and I have lots of wedding related experience and I like to help people. I have come to love many of the ladies here and I hope they stay. I will probably stay as long as there are fun and friendly people here.
LOL, did that about cover all the mixed topics here? Oh, I am having 'Sloppy Joes' for dinner ;) Last night we had Chicken Catchatorie (SP?) (well sort of)

JMO....you are welcome here anytime...I love seeing the way you and Amber interact with one another and just seeing the love and joy that she brings you brings tears to my eyes...I wish my mom lived closer to me!
I think that with all your experience you would be greatly missed (Amber too), I see nothing wrong with you guys sticking around!
I will probably be on less once we get our farm due to the amount of work that has to be done, but most of my posts are while I'm at work...we shall see!
Again, DO NOT GO AWAY KAREN...Onewed needs MOBs like you!

Definatly i feel that having the married girls post here is good. They can give us un-married brides some insight into what life is like when you get married. Plus they have been through all the up's and downs of planning a wedding. I would be terribly sad if any of them left.
I got thinking about other Candian words.... 'Eh' has come to mind.... In comedy sketches and TV shows etc it seems like the Canadian characters say 'eh' alot. I'n my experience we don't say it tooo much. I say things like 'That's pretty cool eh?' meaning 'That's pretty cool right?' or 'Don't you think that's cool?' lol.
I have to admit i never heard chesterfeild until i came to Ontario as well... i think its a pretty old term and i think of an old plaid sofa when i hear it. I hear Ya'll here. But not a whole lot. More when i lived in Alberta i think.
I love hearing other words for things. It is pretty neat. I also love trying to figure out other acents and where they are from. I'm not very good though. lol.

I think everyone should come back after their weddings. i have found that I have built so many friendships with so many people, I'm not sure I can tear myself away. lol. Like Brandi said, as long as there are good people and fun people here, I will stick around for good. I hope that a lot of you will do the same after your weddings!!

I work for the credit card company of Victoria's Secret and I talk to Canadians every day and I swear, above everyone, I love how you guys say things..
Like about, almost sounds like a-boot (think that's right...) and I LOVE when you guys have a Z in your postal code.. cuz I LOVE how you say Z! Zed! That's so great!
I just love also how some people have a "Canadian" accent, and then some have the thick French accent...
I thought I'd just put my 2 cents in on you's guys! =)
(side note... don't get a Victorias Secret card if you are Canadian, it's not worth the hassle!)

Ok, I have to jump in about the way Canadians pronounce some things. Ok, ladies, please don't take any offense to what I am asking because I am really curious and I have never talked to a Canadian in real life any more than I have spoken to a New Zealander or a British person.
Ok, are you guys taught in school to pronounce the "ou" sound as OO? Because we are taught to pronounce it as an OW sound? Like Ally says, the Canadians "that I have seen on tv" pronounce abOWt as abOOt.
The reason I am asking is because I watch some Canadian shows like "Divine Design," and all her OW sounds are pronounced as OO's. I always wanted to ask if that was taught in school or if that was just the way some Canadians say things. If it was just the part of the country that they live in. Just so curious about that.
Please Please ask me something about why Americans talk a certain way too!!!

Back in the 80's, Saturday Night Live or one of those kind of shows had a really funny skit about how Canadians say "eh." (like Jennifer said) It was hilarious. Now not all Canadian say "eh," right? I knew a guy from Minnesota and he said "eh" a lot, and he was American. Maybe it was because of the part of the country he was from. Anyway, it was really funny.

Nope, not bad, I think we decided that it was a personal preference type of thing if you want to come back or not. If you don't then that's your prerogative. If you do, then Yay! better for us that are still here! I'm staying for now, I don't know how I will feel about it once Amber is married. I feel like I will be back because I have ties here to finish up before I can leave forever. I really really like it here!

wow confusing thread lol
I think those already married help to make the forum what it is cos theyve 'been there done that' type of thing havent they so have plenty of sound advice?
I am not English im Welsh (classing us as one is sort of like saying Americans and Canadians are the same) so my accent is not like that normally portrayed on tv of UK people, thought u may think i sound liek it!
When we came to California i loved how when we all went into a café (Diner?) or similar as we were leaving someone would say 'bye now yah come again now y'all' and i loved it, I know the same as UK there is a great variance of accents but those i met sounded nothing like TV Americans either.
One last thing we call a couch a settee and we say Zed for Zee lol
Now i need some headache tabs pmsl

This is good info, Valmai. I don't want to offend anyone, and if I did, I am sorry. I would never have known about the English Welsh thing. Ok, here comes another dumb question... do you have the queen too? Or is that just England? Ok, so does that mean you sound like Tom Jones, Sean Connery, or Catherine Zeta-Jones? Aren't they all from Wales too? I love their accents!!! Valmai, what's a Zed or Zee? Also, thanks for setting me straight. I love that you are here on Onewed!

Oh yes, you'd be surprised how many different accents Americans have! In the state of Texas it even varies from region to region. East Texans sound different than West Texans. Central Texans have an accent that sounds alot like the Midwestern U.S. accent and South Texas sound sort of like a Mexican accent, but mixed with all the other Texan accents.

I think I absolutely do not have any accent whatsoever, but I am told that I have a little bit of a southern accent because I lived in North Carolina for 3 months when I was 15 years old!!!! Those 3 months out of my life, changed the way I talked forever! The kids in North Carolina would ask me to talk for them because they thought I had such a weird accent. Like I was from England or something. lol

No offence taken at all lol i just meant that the UK isnt one country - Yeah the Queen is Queen of the UK as a whole and i actually live in the village where Tom Jones was born and lived until he left to be a star!! (drink in what was his local pub too) Sean Connery is Scottish but Catherine is Welsh also from South like me.
I just meant that we also pronounce Z as Zed rather than a Zee
Now im going back to my studying - one week left whayy!!

I just skimmed so forgive me if I repeated something someone else already said.
With at least 6 of us getting married this month, that probably has a lot to do with the activity level going down. Before my wedding, I wasnt able to get on in the evenings very much, because we were just soooo busy getting everything ready.

As far as how we say about, I think I say aboat more then aboot...lol. It's really crazy because we don't recognize that we are pronouncing these words differently. The accent that really gets me is Minnesota...I can't even describe how hard it is to understand most of what Minnesotians are saying. lol.
My DH and I both say "eh" alot...its not totally like he's Canadian, but its like the first thing he learned when he moved here from Germany seven years ago. Lol. I suppose his friends said to him "hey Matt, you wanna be a true Canadian? Start using 'eh'." Lol. He's lucky I came along when I did, because his buddies were teaching him some really bad english! lol. The strange thing is that he doesn't have a German accent. Only his parents do, but even his older brother doesn't and they all came over at the same time.
We pronouce Z as Zed too.
We don't have Moms. We have Mums.
I believe some of our spellings are different as well like we put a "u" in Colour.
I also believe we pronouce Lieutenant differently. I think Americans say "left-tenant" while I say "Loo-tenant"

No, we say lootenant. The BBC movies say left-tenant for lieutenant. I still don't understand what you guys are saying about that Z Zed thing. Is there any other American out there that understands what Hayley and Valmai are saying when they say that? If so, please explain it to me.

It doesn't! lol. Its only the letter we pronounce differently, I do believe. I can't think of any words we pronounce differently...correct me if I'm wrong though other Canadians or New Zealanders or Australians! lol Its strange how we think lets pronounce a letter differently. We were thinking how funny it would be to call a zebra a zedbra, and that's what the New Zealanders, the Welsh, and maybe even the Australians do. I guess we have to be careful what we laugh about, we might end up offending some people or hurting their feelings. If I said or did anything to offend anybody, I'm sorry. It was unintentional, I assure you. Can you think of any other Z words that you pronounce with the ZED sound, Hayley?

When it somes ot accents it kinda funny in our hoem actauly. I have a northern yankee accent, Nicholas had a southern redneck accent. Neither is real deep untill we spend some time on the phones with our moms and then it comes back thick. I will go home for a couple of days and it gets real thick and when Nicholas was at his moms last summer his came back real thick. So this wedding should be fun. We are all going to be in my home town and his mom and grandmother will be there. He will be with his mom all day and I will be with mine and my sister. So our vows should sound realy funny with our accents coming out thick. Oh yeah and our friend from Australia will be with us as well so talk about accents lol. This is gonna be a blast. I can't wait.
