My x once bought me a drill press (truth be told, I wanted a scroll saw)

 Nothing says "I love you" like a fire extinguisher.

At least that's what I always say!

Hey, my dad is a fire chief. He probably would think an extinguisher is pretty darn romantic! Nothing says "I love you" like not wanting you to burn to death, I suppose :)

I wish I could get an extinguisher! FH always wants to get me things like flowers and movies. I'd much rather have a vacuum.

Vacuums and other appliances are presents for the house. If DH gave me a vacuum for my birthday or Christmas then he better start talking to a lawyer.

How about a combo of my idea + Brenda's? You buy the vacuum for the house but the actual present is that FH does the vacuuming! Now that's a good present :)

Lol I couldn't do that. He does that at work all day long. Besides, I have the greatest vacuum dance.:winktongue:

Now that sounds like my Fh I make it apoint to fix my own plate or he'll give me heaps telling me he wants to "put some meat on my bones". :grinhappy:
I'm like no, no there's enough "meat" there as it is!

I think I would be disappointed if Fh got me something completley practical for an anniversary, birthday or Christmas unless I had specified that it was something I really wanted!
Like my first birthday together he paid off my school loan (I only owe $300 but still $300 gift after only 6mths of dating!:bbeek:) and then on my actual birthday we went out to dinner.

I think the practical gifts our cute, as long as they are "out of the blue" and not, honey, for your birthday I got you a lawn mower.

It's the cave man in there taking care of "his woman" that got you that fire extinguisher.

I got a can of pepper spray one day, because he doesn't like me out by myself.

LOL!

This reminds me. DH and I had a long-distance relationship for the first six months of our relationship, and I had great expectations of sentimental gifts like flowers waiting for me when I arrived...

His offerings of love turned out to be:

(Expensive) Vitamins that smelled like horse manure

Adobe Photoshop 7. <--That dates it, huh? :lafhard:

HOW ROMANTIC.
