I was thinking about getting this done, but I haven't found anyone that has had a full body wrap done. So my question is have any of you girls had a full body wrap done? Your said to lost anywhere from 2-6 inches in an hour. It opens your pores I guess and firms your skin.
I think I need to get a couple of them done! My only worry is that if I get my dress altered to fit me and I get a couple of these done before my wedding and they ACTUALLY work, that my dress won't fit right?
Let me know! =)

I have to be honest and tell you what I've heard about them....and that is, that they're kinda dangerous. And sorry to say, but thats all I've heard! Hopefully someone else will be more knowledgeable than I though and tell us they're not! If they aren't I could stand to have about ten of them done!! lol

Dangerous? Hmmm I wonder why they would be? Maybe they use some sort of chemicals... :bbeek:
I'd have to look into that, I don't want to do something that would harm me..
If I find out I will let you know!

I don't think it's the chemicals, Ally, I think Shawna is talking about the squeezing of the organs. Is that right, Shawna? I thought I read something about that too.

I believe its a combination of the two, to be honest. My SIL (my DH's sister) was going to get one done but my FIL refused to let her, stating it was too dangerous and could make her very sick.

I saw a special on this on tv or in a magazine a while back. They discussed two young women who went to get it done and died. I don't remember all of the details, but I do recall that it has something to do with the stuff that they have you do when preparing for the body wrap, and the way that your body heats up or something. I dunno, but they story freaked me out.

OOhhh! I had thought about doing this before too! Now I will not for sure!

The only thing that I could think of is that they tell you to drink LOTS of water before, during, and after because the body wraps REALLY dehydrate your body...
Maybe those two girls died from dehydration? Not sure, but I'm going to research it more before I have it done... and drink lots of water...

I did have this done once. I lost a total of 9" from my body. I don't really know that they are dangerous. they do wrap you in warm ace bandage type things and they put like a plastic suit on you. And you do minimal excercises. (leg lifts and such) I don't really think they wrap you tight enough to do damage to your organs. It's nothing like a corset.. (which I think is totally harmful!) I am planning to get another one shortly before the wedding. I'm not sure how it works... I think it gets rid of excess water from the body.. I would suggest looking into it before you get one.. Can't trust every salon tht does them.

How long do those inches stay off?

Here are two articles that I found that explain what is done and the problems that might arise. The thing is that you are just losing water from your body. That can throw your body chemicals out of line which can cause problems like heart attacks. The minute you drink something though those lost inches are going to be back. Not to mention you are going to start noticing effects of dehydration. I would say that relaxed feeling they talk about is no more than the exhaustion caused by dehydrating your body. Frankly when I get dehydrated I get a migraine that can land me in the hospital hooked up to IV narcotics. So I think I'll keep my extra inch or two.

Well, if you read up on them on the internet, it says they will stay off forever with proper diet and excercize. This I highly doubt. I really do think it is water weight. Anyway, if I remember correctly, (it was a few years ago) it was for a couple of days. If you wanted to do one, I would suggest the day before..

I think I'll just pass because I'm not so worried about the inches in wedding dress. I want to loose inches for the honeymoon in Jamaica!!! I have time now and I've already decided today is the day I start my diet and exercise!

Ultimatley, I would say that dieting and exercise is much better than the wrap.. I have been dieting and lost 18 pounds. I am slightly scared that I still may not be able to zip my dress.. Though I am losing this weight, I am not losing many inches on my waist. If I still have an inch to go, I will do the wrap.

In that case I probably would.

You know, I'm not to worried about my whole body, I would like to just do my arms... I have been working them for about the past 3 months but they aren't changing at all and it's frustrating!
I think I'm going to have it done anyway... I'm not a doctor, but the people who had died probably had previous medical conditions... I'm not TOO worried! =) (just a little tho)

I'm sure you'll be okay. My wedding is in December so I just started my diet/exercise plan yesterday! We'll see how it goes.

Your comment here worries me! I'm sorry but are a few extra inches gone for a few days a good enough thing if there is a chance that you could die? Will your FH not love you if you have a few extra inches on your wedding day?? Anyhow, all in all this is your decision, but since you aren't a doctor, as you stated maybe you should check with one and see what they say. I've heard a lot of bad things about a lot of cosmetic procedures, teenagers dying from some really simple procedures. I can't remember exactly what, but I was appalled!! If teenagers, in their prime of life, probably at their healthiest times in their lives are dying from procedures like body wraps, don't you think you owe it to yourself to ask a Doctor??
Ok, sorry that is just my opinion, my life means more to me then losing a few inches. Hope you make the decision that you feel is right for yourself. Good luck and take care of yourself.
