I would like to have my sister's friend, who is a photography student, do our pictures. He did the engagement pictures of another of my sister's friends, and they turned out well. And I've been checking out his pictures on facebook, and they look really, really good.

I was thinking I'd like to find some really pretty areas where there are lots of fall colors.

But, then I also wouldn't mind having some creative ones. Can anyone think of any creative settings? I just thought of maybe doing one in a library, since I'm going to library school. What other places would people not expect a couple to have engagement pictures done?

Yes! A library...that was another one I've been wanting to do. Now that we've done the grocery store, I am going to set my sights on the library.

Did you have to get special permission to do the pictures in the grocery store? I was telling my fiance about that, and he thought they'd kick people out that were taking pictures there.

We thought of that too-and luckily, no one cared at all. But we did discuss with the couple the possibility of getting kicked out and they understood. That's why we took a bunch of other photos in another setting before we got there! So just in case...:D

I think if you're going somewhere small and you're nervous about it, I'd call ahead and ask. But for us, it was just too much trouble and I knew they'd be like, huh? You want to do what? I don't understand!

Someone on here did them at a race track, but I forget who. Movie theater, flea market, juggle gym, abandoned house, railroad/train station or subway ...

If you are a library student I would totally do the pics at a library! Taht is so fitting!

We did ours at the state fair, but I think a library would be really awesome!

For those of you digging the library idea, here's some inspiration from a bookstore:

We were in a shopping area, I had a lightbulb go off in my head, and they were totally into it. Yes!

We did have to ask for premission to use the track (in fact, my boss hooked me up with the contact). We had the contact escort us around, just so security would arrest us.

Also, along the lines of "different", I don't know if it would work, and I know FH would never agree with this cause he hates shopping, but for a couple who likes to shop, I thought going to a mall would be a lot of fun.

We did some in the library. We did all of ours on campus in various places, like in the hotel on campus, at the piano, just walking around campus...

Absolutely any background can be interesting.

I love the ones Chase (TangoWedding) did with the red couch in an alley or something like that. The store and other ideas are great too. Anything fun and different with some personality is always good :)

EDIT: I have done pics at a local park on the swings a couple of times too.

We were another state faire couple *chuckle* Most of ours were done on the ferris wheel and merry-go-round. Props to our photographer I gotta say.

As Acidcookie said, any background can be interesting! Think of something or someplace that means a lot to both of you, and go for it!

This reminds me, we're at it again! One of our couples saw all of the crazy fun we've been having on engagement shoots and decided that they wanted to do a session after all. So this month, we are shooting them at their HS football stadium. He is a coach, she is a teacher. It is going to be so super cute!
