I have made some friends that have a local rescue and no one seems to want these poor dogs.

This is "Brandi", they named her after me ;-)

She is a sweet dog, but she is pretty big and would probably do better in a home with no small dogs or cats or any small children. This (and that she is not a cute little puppy anymore) is probably why she is having a hard time finding a new home.

Then there is this one they call Deigo ...

He was taken in from a kill shelter; apparently he was seized in a bust on a meth lab. The local Animal Control tried to find a home for him and when they couldn't they took him to a shelter.

So now he is in rescue and has been neutered and all, but he has developed seizures. The vets think it has something to do with exposure to chemicals in the meth lab. He will probably have to be on meds for the rest of his life.

They are having a hard time finding anyone that wants him because of his special needs ... so sad :(

Other than the seizures he seems like a sweet dog. He loves pets and rubbies.

I have such a soft spot for dogs; if I had a yard and didn't already have two small dogs, I'd have to seriously consider taking one of them.

I don't know if there is anyone in the GA area that is looking for a dog, but I thought I'd post anyway.

Oh my goodness, if I had a place to keep him I'd drive up there and get the second one, what a sweetheart! He has such sad puppy eyes poor baby, I'm such a sucker for an abandoned or homeless animal.... my mom used to get so mad at me because I'd feed the homeless cats when I was in high school and some of them decided to make our house home lol

Aw, if I had a house and a yard I'd seriously go get him, but it's going to be two months before DH and I have a place to move and we aren't sure if we will end up with a house or apt...

Good luck finding them homes!

Tehy are both so cute, but I definatly have a soft spot for shepards sense that is what I grew up with.... My paretns would totally take Diego, but Goergia is a little far to get a dog, and the dog they have now already has diabetes and siezures. Probably too much to handle for them.

They are both adorable! Hope they find a good home!

If only I could. I have no yard and live in a no-pets building (in Illinois, at that) so I couldn't... but they sure look sweet.

Aw stories like this just break my heart. I wish I could adopt them, but we just don't have the room right now and are too far. I hope they find loving families!

Here in Wisconsin, a few months ago they rescued 1200 dogs/puppies from a puppy mill. They still are finding homes from them. I wish we were in our new house where we could get a dog.

Both of them are gorgeous! I would take Diego in a heartbeat if I could!

Do you know if Diego is good with cats? I'm sure the rescue he's with now has already done this, but they could contact GSD rescues in the southeast and have them cross-list him on their web sites. They may even know of a potential adopter.

I wish him and Brandi lots of luck in finding their permanent homes soon!

They may even know of a potential adopter. They did say that he seemed good with children, cats and other dogs; he seems like the perfect dog other than his seizures. So that plus everyone wants a cute little puppy is making it hard for them to find a home for him.

I will try to help them find a local GSD rescue and maybe post about these two on PetFinder too.

Petfinder is a GREAT site! If they don't have homes yet, I would def. go that route. We are looking for a possible playmate for Wrigley and have been looking on petfinder because we want to rescue one this time.

I told the rescue about this idea and they have contacted a couple of local GSD rescues; just waiting to hear back from them.

That's great news! Petfinder is a GREAT way to reach potential adopters. Hopefully, the added exposure can help Brandi and Diego find homes soon!
