I made my racing debut today! FH has raced go-karts for many years, and I finally got the courage to race the powder puff race! I got 3rd out of 7 and even took a girl out! I feel like such a bad a$$! I couldn't be more happy and I even got a plaque! Whoo hoo!

Oh wow! We've jsut recently gotten into the go cart racing! Where do ya'll race at? There is a powder puff race up at the track in Wetumpka, Al and FH is trying to talk me into racing? Is it as bad as it looks? I just dont want someone to purposefully knock me around or by chance flip me over!:)
Was it fun?

It was so much fun! I always get nervous when I go out to practice, but I was flying by all the other women! FH started racing when he was like 11 in Dousman, WI. He has raced at The Milwaukee Mile, Lowe's Motorspeedway (this was such a cool track!), Indiana, Illinois, etc. Have you ever seen the kid karts?! OMG - too cute! When we have kids, our kid will be in one of those when he/she turns 5. I love them!
I think you will be fine, so long as you get some practice in before the race. What kind of kart/motor do you all have???

congrats! that's awesome. my dad races limited modified cars and he's asked me to do a powder puff race but i'm so chicken!
plus he pulled a prank on my stepmom and hooked up a blinker and they talked about it the whole race... i guess i don't want all eyes on me b/c i know he will do something weird.

Haha! That is funny!
Thats okay..the first time I got in the kart, I hit a fence.....pulling into the pits....not my proudest moment, but needless to say, I've recovered!!!

I'm not really positive "whatkind" he has. I know its a stock motor, (he has one that has an animal motor, but we've got to get it put together and set up to run:grinhappy:) and he is in the stock heavy or super heavy class depending on who's running he can squeak into the super heavy.
I think it would be fun I"m jsut freaked out, I want him to be proud not embarrassed at my no driving a$$ lol.
We've just been to a few local tracks, one in Foley, the other in Wetumpka & there will be a $$$ race in another few weeks at Pensecola. he wants to go there, its $200 to enter to win.

If you are considering doing it, my suggestion would go to your track on a practice day where nobody is really there. Like, our local track is open during the work week, so FH and I would go out there during the day when nobody was there. We did this twice and I felt more comfortable learning like that, versus when people were flying by me and learning how to drive the darn thing! And believe me, I've seen enough races in the last 5 years, this is so dangerous when people don't know what they are doing out there!!!!

I know! Those things go so fast! Even the kiddie carts where we watch are pretty fast, there was a little boy who ran into the wall (rubberband wrapped around the track with tires behind it) and it caught his cart just right and flipped him right over! Like to have scared us to death so I can just imagine what his parents were thinking! He wasnt in the smallest age range (just above where they have the cages on the cart) his cart didn't have a cage adn he just went up and over, he never came out of the cart but just his body language told you he was like "yikes!".
We should go over there on the off weeks, they only race at the track closest to us(1hour 1/2 away) every other week. And let me practice all by my lonesome!

Oh man, I have so many accident stories to share! FH has literally driven over people. Of course, he is apologetic, etc. but I think it is funny! :grinhappy:

That's awesome! I started drag racing when I was 11 years old. It's a lot of fun and an adrenaline rush!
