I'm making a Halloween cake tonight, orange frosting with white cake. I may put some chocolate sprinkles on it too. Hubby is making a nice dinner - fried drumsticks, mashed potatoes and corn on the cobb, so I thought I'd make dessert. I get so excited thinking about making desserts around the holidays; we're going to make eclairs, chocolate mousse pie, and other yummy desserts!

Uh oh, hubby just burned one of the drumsticks! My eyes are burning, lol! This is his first time making fried chicken. :)

What desserts are you making now or around the holidays?

I usually make either a rum cake (altered box recipe) and/or Key lime pie for Thanksgiving and then cookies for Christmas. I think I may try an apple cobbler this year, maybe for both.

I make Pumpkin bars ever year for thanksgiving. Its pretty much a pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. They are SO good...I want some now!:D

Now you have me craving pumpkin rolls.

We got some of those caramel apple suckers from target the other day to munch on. I'm still tossing around the idea of making orange rice krispies and pumpkin cookies.

For Christmas, I'm making gift boxes with cookies and some other snacky things in them to send to family.

My favorite holiday treat is these chocolate and butterscotch melted topping with peanut butter and corn flake bottom. Mmm. My mom makes them every year and they are to DIE for!

I was just about to post how amazing the pumpkin rolls are, lol. I look forward to every Thanksgiving just for them :)

I usually make a few batches of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins during the Fall. I always make different things during the holidays. I do have one regular though. It's a chocolate peanut caramel candy bar type dessert that I've been making since high school. I have no idea where the recipe is since we moved so I need to find it! The family and friends expect it!

During any holiday, my mom will buy the pillsbury sugar cookies that have the different patterns depending on what's going on. I bake those. I know super cheating but they may me so darn happy. I saw them last night grocery shopping and shrieked and did a little giggle. Some day I'll grow up. :)

I'm not very good at baking and we're hosting Christmas for part of my FH's family this year. Any relatively idiot-proof suggestions? (Since this is the first thing I'm doing for his family I'm being a little bit of a snob and trying to avoid baking mixes if at all possible)

If you're making a turkey check out:

If you're making ham check out:

And for recipes, just google Christmas recipes and I'm sure you'll find something.

oh I've got the actual menu down - we're having roasted pork tenderloin, baked chicken in white wine sauce, wild rice pilaf with lemon and pine nuts, honey glazed sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and sauteed green beans with mushrooms. I just need dessert suggestions that are easy but impressive.

My grandma always makes cookies and just puts a big tray of them out.
Pie is always good.
Cake is always good.

This Orange Glazed Cranberry Pound Cake sounds amazing

Sure thing! It's Saturday, Dec. 20 in Cullman, Alabama. Just bring a $10-20 gift to play Dirty Santa with :)

I recently made a no-bake pumpkin cheesecake which turned out really yummy!! Sorry, I never measure when I'm cooking/baking!

Blend 3/4 a tub of cool whip with about 6 oz. of cream cheese. Add a half a can of pumpkin puree. Then, add sugar to taste. Add some cinnamon (maybe between 1/4 and 1/2 tsp?), a few dashes of ground clove, and a few dashes of nutmeg. Blend together and put into a pre-pressed graham cracker crust (the ones you buy already in the tin). Refrigerate, then let your fork do the rest of the work :)
