I'd really love to get a signature platter instead of a traditional guest book so we can hang it up. My only issue is, is there a marker that can be used that won't fade? My brother has one of those baby plates and it advertises that the ink will never fade, but he's had to re-do the ink a few times, and his son is almost four! So needless to say, I'm a little leery about getting one when the marker could fade!!

The signatures are not usually as opaque as the design itself but they should not fade. The signatures on our own platter, haven't faded after 2 years and I have never had a customer tell us that they have on theirs either. With that said, I wouldn't display your platter on a table where direct sunlight might hit it.

If you do purchase a platter, make sure that it comes with a pen that is meant for ceramics/glass. Baking the platter in your own oven, is what sets the signatures and makes them permanent.

Is it possible that your brother was supplied or used a permanent marker (like a sharpie)? I do know from experience that those will fade.

It was a sharpie!
I didn't realize that signatures were "baked" on, neither did he, or that there was a special pen to use. I read your website about a hundred times, and it wasn't until my FH looked that he saw the baked on part (took him seconds, haha, apparently I should use my glasses!) Good thing he looked too, he's definately more into the idea since seeing samples!

LOL don't feel badly. I lose my glasses and sometimes they are right in front of me. The funny thing is, my eyesight isn't all that bad without glasses!

If you have other questions, just shout.
