I was looking up some recipes for different kind of burger ideas. I found a couple that sounded good, so I will see what DH thinks.
Here is the recipe I was thinking of trying tonight -
KITCHEN FAMOUS BROWN SUGAR BURGERS
brown sugar burgers
1 lb. very lean (97% lean or better) ground beef
½ cup brown sugar (1/4 cup if less sweetness desired)
1 tablespoon honey or spicy honey mustard
maple or honey bbq sauce
sharp cheddar cheese
real hickory or maple cured bacon
hamburger buns
Mix brown sugar into beef with your hands, gently folding it to ensure complete mixture. Repeat with the mustard. I have found that trying to mix the sugar and the mustard at the same time creates clumps in the beef that inhibit complete mixture.
Once the mixture is complete, separate into four equal sized balls. Gently pat out the balls into large patties, being sure to keep the center of the burgers a little thinner than the outer edges. This will keep the burgers from shrinking when you cook them.
After the burgers are cooked (I prefer the open grill, but this will also work on a standard skillet or Foreman Grill), build them in the following manner for best flavor mixture:
1. Bottom bun
2. Burger
3. Cheese (you can put this on the burgers while they’re still on the grill if you want it a little melted)
4. Two strips of bacon (either in an ‘X’ or broken up and layed beside each other to cover the whole burger)
5. BBQ sauce
6. Other toppings as desired (tomato, lettuce (shredded works better), onions, etc.
7. Top bun
Enjoy!

I have tried a pineapple bbq burger recipe and I sort of made up a salsa burger one that turned out pretty good.
Do you have a favorite burger recipe to share?

If you want to make your own veggie burger -
VEGGIE BURGERS WITH CHICK PEAS
2 cups cooked chick peas, mashed
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1 carrot, peeled and shredded
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 clove of garlic, smashed and chopped
1/4 cup flour
salt and pepper to taste
pinch of dried herbs to taste
1 egg, slightly beaten to bind mixture (optional)
oil for frying.
Sauté onion, garlic, carrots and celery until softened. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and form into patties. Fry burgers in oil until golden on both sides. For a nice effect, grill cooked burgers on the BBQ to give the grill marks, until heated through .
The turkey burger that Oprah raved about -
Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger
Recipe courtesy of Jeff O'Neill
Oprah found a new favorite food when she tried this turkey burger at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach. "I believe [it] may be the best turkey burger in the entire world," she says. The Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger will be permanently available at the Trump Bar and Grille in Trump Tower in New York City, open to the public for lunch and dinner. It will also be served during lunch in Chicago at Sixteen, the Trump International Hotel restaurant.
Ingredients:Serves 6
1/4 cup thinly sliced scallions
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
3 Granny Smith apples , peeled and diced
1/8 cup canola oil
4 pounds ground turkey breast
2 Tbsp. salt
2 Tbsp. black pepper
2 tsp. Tabasco® chipotle pepper sauce
1 lemon , juiced and grated zest
1/2 bunch parsley , finely chopped
1/4 cup Major Grey's Chutney , pureed
Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.
Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Serve with a side of Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney and your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll.

This one isn't served on a bun, but falls into probably my 5 favorite meals of all time.
Sauerbraten Burgers
1/2 cup crushed gingersnaps (8 cookies)
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pound ground beef
1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
Dash pepper
Hot cooked egg noodles
Reserve 2 tablespoons of the crushed gingersnaps. Mix remaining gingersnaps with 2 tablespoons of the tomato sauce, the onion, raisins, and salt. Add meat; mix well. Shape into four 3/4-inch-thick patties; brown in a skillet. Drain off fat. Combine remaining tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, and pepper. Pour over burgers. Cover; simmer 10 to 15 minutes, spooning sauce over meat. Remove burgers; keep warm.
Stir reserved crushed gingersnaps into sauce in skillet. Cook and stir till bubbly. Skim off excess fat. Pour some sauce over burgers; pass remaining sauce. Serve with noodles. Makes 4 servings.

I thought I would bump this up since DH and I were talking about burgers again.
I read something about putting herb butter in the patty and another about putting steak sauce on the burger.
How do you make a burger? Of course for the most part I am thinking the on the bun thing ;)

Heh. I am REALLY old school and don't mix anything into my burgers. At all. If you buy hgh-quality meat and don't mess with it, you'll get a fabulous burger without having to add anything to it.
My technique is pretty much the same as Alton Brown's on the Food Network.
Start with lean ground beef or a mix of ground sirloin and other 'steak' meats, *gently* form it into a patty (if you rip and tear and mush and so on you flatten and toughen the meat) using as little contact with your hands as possible, put a little kosher salt on the top (and pepper if you absolutely must), then put it on the grill.
Flip it ONCE and DON'T flatten it, you squeeze out all the juices that way. I like them, on a hot charcoal grill, at no more than 2.5 minutes a side, preferably 2 minutes a side for a lovely rare grilled hamburger. 3 minutes gets you a medium burger, more or less, and anything over 4 minutes per side results in a charred hockey puck -- not that there's anything wrong with that, because some people like their meat well done!
I add cheese when they come off the grill immediately, if I want cheese.
That's all there is to it. Get good, high-quality meat, mess with it as little as possible, don't squish it, and don't add anything to it, except some salt because salt brings out the flavor of beef.
That's my recipe :) For stuff ON my burger I love a blend of blue cheese and avocado, or swiss cheese and bacon. Or all of the above! Occasionally I like some original A-1, just to add some extra flavor. I like A-1 on my hot dogs too.

Yeah I used to put all kinds of stuff in burgers, then I started buying better beef and grilling them. They are good this way, but I guess it is fun to try new things with an old favorite ;)
Edit: Oh, the recipe I am trying today adds a little cola, a little A1, kosher salt, pepper, minced onion and garlic, and a little egg to hold it all together. Mold the patties and put in the fridge for an hour before grilling.
I hope they don't suck ;)

I'm not a big on putting stuff into the burgers itself. Like Whitewater, I use lean ground beef (about 93%), and shape them into large patties. If I have a pound of beef, I will divide it into quarters.
For seasonings, I use Worsheshire sauce, lawrey's, pepper and garlic salt on both sides. Gives it a great flavor!

was watching food network, they did an INSIDE OUT burger.. it was awesome. you used whatever you want and basically you make the bottom of the burger, put cheese and whatever toppings, (if using bacon etc, must cook beforehand) then make the top of the patty and press together, then pan cook them.. i think im going to try mushrooms and bacon and for dh cheese this week.. guy feari used cheese, bacon and churrso in his.. looks awesome!!

I saw that and mentioned it to DH and he wasn't into it :p He doesn't really put anything on his but cheese anyway.
I did try one similar before (but mixed into the beef) with bacon bits and onion. I cooked it on the George Foreman grill though.
