I think about how i want to get married, at a bar-b-q with friends and family, music and my fiance. I want to wear a sun dress, I want my dogs to be running around and i want to do it all out side!
Now with our time line running out my dad suggests that we get married on my grandparents aniversary, Jan 18th. This would mean so much to me to do something like this (why cant i ever come up with the wonderful ideas that make me all misty eyed!).
HOW DO I GET MARRIED IN JANUARY???
The wedding will be in northern Florida, but the projected temps are low 60s high 50s. Outside is not an option. We dont have alot of money, so we were going to do it in my dad's back yard. It is really important that my dogs are there because my lab is going to be the ring bearer! My dads house isnt very large and i really wanted to have a father/daughter dance and a first dance before we go to dinner.
I am only going to have about 7 people there (mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, brother, nieces and nephews, and my best friend). My fiance's family will not be there at all, but im going to try to persuade his mom. I dont think the ammount of people is enough to rent a hall or anything crazy. We dont even want to say vows, we just want to say "I do" and put the rings on and then celebrate with the family.
I guess my wedding plan is just a big reception :)
Im so confused and dont really know where to start.

How about renting heat lamps?
I think it's nice that you want to remember your grandparents in such a special way...but if it doesn't fit in with your plan, perhaps you could alter the idea? What about making your anniversary on their half-year anniversary in July? Or you could always just commemorate their marriage in your program or during your service itself, instead of actually having it on the date.
But if you must have it on the date...heat lamps!
Good luck!

I am trying to find a way to get married on my grandparents anniversary. I think it is the coolest thing ever. You can do fire pits, I think we have about the same type of weather here in Arizona that time of year. You just bundle everyone up, have plenty of wood for fires, and do all things fire related. Hot cocoa, marshmallow, smores, that type of thing. If you only have around 10 people you should be able to come up with all kinds of ideas.

When I saw the title of this post I thought of Pheebe's wedding on Friends :) Sorry I like that show way too much...
I think it is sweet you are getting married on their anniversary. Our Pastor got married on his parents anniversary, which was the same as his grandparents and GREAT grandparents anniversary. It meant getting married on a Thursday though. But they had a nice little segment about it at their wedding.
If you do get married on their wedding you should for sure clue guests in on that fact, I bet they would love to know that.
I would plan for it to be chilly, but who knows it is Florida, maybe it will be 70 that week, which is a possiblity :)
Since you have such a small group you could for sure do something like hot chocolate and maybe even buy personalized blankets for each person and have them at their seat. I think that would be sooo cute, you could have it so they can see their name. I'm sure you can get this done without it costing an arm and a leg. That would be a wonderful item for them to take home and remember your wedding. I bet you could do it for under $200, maybe even less if you can find someone on ebay that does personal items, I think I saw blankets one time on there for $10 each.
I'll go look, I'll come back to report my findings ;)

I found these for $23.99 each, so just under $175 for 7 of them plus shipping... You could have it say whatever you wanted, and put their individual names if you wanted, and whatever color you wanted

So while they are pretty expensive "Favors" since you only have 7 people and you are saving the cost of a venue it would be a nice little touch I think. I'm sure there are cheapers ones too. Or there may be someone in your area that knows how to embroider(sp?!?)

My actual wedding date is Jan 18 2009 and I'm getting married outside and I'll be in a strappless dress:D We're having the ceremony mid to late afternoon when it's the warmest and moving inside for the late afternoon/evening reception. If its in the 50s-60s the temp shouldn't be too bad, you can wear a shawl or cute little jacket and most wedding dresses are really warm with all of the layers

I'm getting married on my grandparents' anniversary, which just happens to be FH's grandparents' anniversary too. I love it, so of course I'm all for trying to make that date work for you! I think the idea of renting heat lamps would be good. Does your dad have a patio area where you could do a tent with lamps there and people could kind of move in and out of the house between the two?

I live in New Orleans and I'm getting married outside for Jan 3rd. We have similar temperatures to you, might only be slightly cooler, if that. We're renting a tent to block out any cold wind and we plan on renting heaters (which the tent company has) if it's going to be too cold. The problem with southern states is winter is a toss up game. I've been in shorts on many Christmas days. Trust me, it can be done, just prepare for both options - warmer than normal winter versus a cooler one and you'll be fine!

Kitty you would be looking very hot in a strapless and January would be the best season for guys to handle the heat.
Gwen had a great idea with renting heating lamps - you can get the gas ones for a decent price rent or buy! Does your dad have a porch? You can dance there?? Do you have a cousin who is old enough/willing/techy enough to run an ipod and an amp? Have him/her be your DJ. I understand the importance of using your grandparent's wedding date. My husband and I were going to do that until we realized the place we wanted to get married wasn't available... so we went with the next best thing.
Are you pretty set on the sun dress? In January?

Wedding is one occasion which will be memorable in anyone’s life. When you think of wedding decoration then you can choose Frosted colors, Frosted colors like icy blue make a big impact in the winter season.
