Holiday Ornament/Trinket Exchange Anyone [Archive]

Who would be in for doing something like this again this year?

In the past there seems to always be at least one person that doesn't follow through when we do exchanges, so we will have to be stricter on the restrictions for who is allowed to participate (ie; only active, established members) this time. And there will be a cut off date and all ... I think we did a $10 before shipping price range last year.

If enough people want to do it, I was thinking maybe start the sign up for this in the next couple of weeks. Then do the draw like mid November and do the ship out date for like the first week in December.

Unfortunately you may not be able to participate in such exchanges until you have been with us longer.

As mentioned in the opening post, we have had problems in the past with people not following through (not saying you wouldn't) so each time we have to make tighter restrictions. Plus, since personal information is being exchanged, it makes people more comfortable to only have people involved that have been around a while and gotten to know everyone.

The restriction will be that only members that post regularly and have been here at least 3 months and have at least 300 posts will be able to be involved in the exchange.

It is not personal; I hope no one gets upset if they can't participate!

Just read the post about the limiting 300 so want you guys to know I did read it, lol. I think in my rate I'll have no issue. And my 3 months will not be until Nov 20th, so not sure if this would affect me being part.

Awe, I'm so glad you liked it! It makes me even more excited to do it again this year! I love Christmas time :) Only a little over a month until we can put up the tree! We always put it up the day after Thanksgiving.

Last year several of us signed up on a site, and it randomly picked another person for us from this site who agreed to be a part of the exchange to which we bought and shipped them an Ornament. So it is kind of like a secret santa thing. I believe there is a $10 before shipping max.Yeah, what she said ;)

We just call it "Holiday" since not everyone celebrates Christmas ;) We decided on ornaments (or small trinkets if you don't have a tree) since it would be fairly inexpensive :)

We use www.elfster.com to help organize the exchange and randomly pair people. You can post a "wish list" to tell your buddy what you like, and a "do not need list" to tell your buddy what you don't like or what you already have. You can also ask questions anonymously via the elfster site too.

But I have to tell you I am hesitating. Its not for the 10 dollars, I was really glad to participate in the keychain/magnet exchange but I was so frustrated not to get anything.

So I really want to, but to be honest, I dont know.Unfortunatly you are not the only one to have this happen to them in an exchange. All we can do is not let the people that don't follow through for whatever reasons not participate anymore and make the restrictions tighter next time.

Of course if you don't want to participate you certainly don't have to.

We do it if we have enough people that want to.

Yeah, I didn't get anything for that either, and the person acted all like they sent one and it just never came. (I mean, I guess that is possible, but idk.) But I think with the tighter restrictions this one will be good--definitely count me in!
