Well, it is new to me as I had never heard of it before ;)

I first heard of this on a Food Network show called "Unwrapped". I think it was an episode on cherry flavor stuff that we saw a week or so ago.

Anyway; it is Cheerwine -

I'm not sure where I've seen this, but I know I have before. It sounds very familiar. I'm not a big cherry coke/soda/pop fan otherwise I'd try it.

I saw this too ~ years ago on the Food Network!! I called my sis ~ who lived in North Carolina at the time ~ she came in on vacation and brought me a 2 liter. I am in the Midwest so we can't get it here. She says everyone drinks this all over NC. It is FABULOUS! I LUV IT!! It's manufactured by a small family-ran business so you pretty-much have to be in NC or one of the neighboring states where they ship it to get it. Sis says they actually have it in soda machines there... like beer in Germany, I suppose. I sooooo wish we had it here!!

I'm not sure I've ever had any (and I don't drink soda now), but I remember seeing people drink it and it's been around forever. Wikipedia says since 1917.

The label looks so fake! I've never heard of it. Will have to look in the grocery store next time I go.

Every year when we were kids we would go to Nags Head NC for family vacation. Dad would stock up on CheerWine. Can't get it above the NC line.

I love that stuff!! My aunt lives in NC and the first time I had it was while visiting her years ago. They now sell it around here. (Northern VA)

Where in Northern VA are you? I'm in podunk King George about 20 miles east of Fredericksburg and between Richmond and DC.

I know where King George is. :) I live in Leesburg, VA. It's in Loudoun County. We aren't too far from each other! :-P

I'm from Charlotte, so I've had it before. I've never been a big fan, but I do love Cherry Lemon Sundrop (I'm pretty sure this is a NC/Southern thing too). There's a place outside of Charlotte (I lived in Concord NC for a while) called What A Burger. They used to make their own - crushed ice, Sundrop, and cherry syrup with a fresh lime wedge. God, I'd kill for one of those right now!

I acutally like the strawberry limeade from Sonic, but we don't have one close to us anymore.

Aww, I love cheerwine! We used to have a store a short way away from my school that had all sorts of old pops that our parents and grandparents used to drink, so we'd go and get a few at a time and try them. Cheerwine was one of my favorites! Unfortunately, the store closed last year :(

This is clearly a southern thing. I'm from Alabama and I remember seeing Cheerwine in the grocery store my whole life, but I've never actually tried it. I guess I've just always taken for granted the fact that it's around. Maybe I'll have to get some when I go to the store tomorrow!

I've seen this soda before, either earlier this year or last year I think. Its been awhile ago. I don't like cherry though so I haven't had it. My mom or someone has and didn't think it was too bad.
