Anyone have any great ideas for a western wedding on a ranch? We don't want to go over the deep end in western attire, but we want just enough wild west to keep the theme and let people have a great time. Our minister will wear cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. We'll also have bbq served. I'm thinking I want all of the girls including me to have dresses with corset backs.

You could have the guests sit on haybales rather than chairs during the ceremony.
Have you ever been to one of those old-time photo booths where they dress you up like Wild West characters? Would be supercute if you and FH had one taken and displayed it... or even framed it and used it as the guest book!
You could name the tables after old western movies...
Make customized signs for the bathrooms that say "Cowboys" & "Cowgirls" or something...
Just some small stuff off the top of my head.

If you were anywhere near me I would drive you down the isle with my white miniature pony :) It would be neat if you know someone with horses to drive you away at the end....... I would hang horse shoes down the isle with flowers. It would be FUN doing your wedding. You should get white cowboy boots.....you can order them off of Rod's Western Store. I would have the guys how cowboy hats to wear at the reception. I was going to say the bales of hay, put them down and then a blanket for your guest to sit on. There are plenty of western wedding decorations out there from cake toppers to guest books. Good luck!

I love the idea of the pony/cart. Maybe arrive in a horse drawn carriage - or leave in one??

I had a western/4x4 themed wedding. We had our wedding in front of a barn, and the reception inside the barn. Have you plans whether you're going to do indoor or outdoor reception? I see you said you are going to have a BBQ.... Maybe set up the tables in the barn (or use that idea as backup?). We had tables in the stalls (it is a 10 stall barn, with stalls down both sides).

I love the idea of having the guests sit on haybales. Maybe haybales with western-y style blankets on them?? Like these:

Also, are you planning on a white wedding dress? There are tons with corset style bodice. Also, you could go with a v style halter top and wear a white cowgirl hat and boots to go with it. Just some ideas. Be sure to ask any questions you may have - that's what we're here for!

I've seen pictures of weddings with guests sitting on the hay bales and I have to saw it looked awesome!

Also, you could incorporate a lot of wheat items like in the bouquets, etc and/or sunflowers.

Here are some items from ebay just by typing in "western wedding"

There's lots of stuff out there! Good luck!

My FH and I are having a western/country/farm/horse themed wedding. We are getting as many old horseshoes from all of our horse friends that we know. We are then cleaning the dirt off and attaching tags instructing the guests to put them above a doorway in their house for good luck (the horseshoes are the favors). We are also using the horseshoes to make votive candle holders. Our centerpieces are little galvenized pales and milk cans with flowers in them and decorated with raffia. We really wanted to have hay bales for seating, but many of our guests would not apprecaite sitting on hay. We are using them for decor and creating a unique card box out of hay bales and tack. I am wearing red cowboy boots to go with my white with red trim dress. We are having a big hog roast and preparing the meat ourselves two days before the wedding. (HUGE money saver!) My FH has a farm and works for John Deere so we found a caterer to make a cake that has the two interlocked horseshoes and tractors with mini hay bales and cowboy hats as little decorations and chocolates. I also found a lady on ebay that makes custom garters and had her make me a John Deere garter. I know a lady who does beautiful work with glass etching and is VERY reasonable so we are doing beer mugs for our wedding party for toasting glasses. We are using a horseshoe with ribbon for a ringbearer pillow as well. Our photographer is awesome too...she is my horse trainer's girlfriend and takes horse pictures all the time, so we are will have engagement and wedding pictures on the farm with the horses and tractors. We live in southern Indiana and can recommend any of our vendors if you are close to us. Other things we have discussed are the clear cowboy hat bowls for food, etc. You can get boot shaped mugs too. We are also using old boots, saddles and other tack, ropes, and various other things you might find on a ranch or farm as decorations. Once they get the websites back up, I can add some of the things we are doing for decor to my website. We are getting married in June and I will be sure to post pictures as soon as we work on our DIY projects (most everything is DIY for our wedding). I did google searchs for western, cowboy, horse, farm, and country weddings that came back with some great ideas. Good Luck and let me know if you want more information on anything.

We DJed a wedding in the mountains that was a western style theme. I LOVED LOVED LOVED their wedding cake! It looked like a quaking aspen tree with their initials carved in it with a heart around it. That description doesn't do it justice......I'll have to try and find a picture. It was SO cute!
