I think it really depends on the type of invitation, where you are getting them and how many you are getting. Did you compare prices? I bought mine from Exclusively Weddings and paid $97 which included 75 invites, 75 RSVP cards, all envelopes and shipping. I would definitely shop around, go to a site and plug in your info just to get an approximate amount of what it would cost you and then compare the prices and see if it's worth it. Good luck:D

I'll be paying $237 (tax and shipping) for 75 invites and 75 RSVPs from weddingpaperdivas.com. This is not for sure but that's my pick and it has been my pick for a while. I was thinking of having someone make me some but they never got back to me so that's a big red flag.

I think $2 an invite is a good deal if they are different, neat, beautiful, special, on great paper, etc... otherwise, I agree with the above... order them for less.

How much you're willing to pay for invites depends largely on how much time you have... sitting around with my girlfriends and making our invites by hand was one of the best parts of our wedding planning, and gave everything a personal touch. By buying basic invite kits and some craft supplies to spice them up, I made 80 invitations and reply cards for $60 before postage (already had the printer ink), and everyone who has seen them loves them! But the whole task (after hours of shopping) took five girls almost six hours... so if you add in labor costs they weren't that cheap! All depends on how much time you have/want to spend. My thought was that the invitation is something that us brides think about waaaay more than our guests will ever remember about them!

It all depends on the quality of the actual invite. Did you ask to get a sample invite? You may have to buy one but I think it would be well worth it so that you can feel the weight of the card stock and see exactly how they will look.

Are you asking her to do something custom - ie design a monogram etc. as well?
