Now that's how MIL's should be. I haven't been able to understand the FMIL's who hate their FDIL. Why would you hate someone who makes your own child happy? It just never made any sense to me. It looks like you'll be very happy in that family, Cindy!

Thanks Karen. BTW - Brian is the same way with my dad. I could understand them disliking the one that makes their child miserable. But there are so many times that is not the case.

That is great Cindy! I'm not sure where I stand with my mother-in-law; I mean, she's never been outwardly mean and has been wonderful about the wedding. But there's just that feeling you know? It's hard to explain. I'm glad you've got such a great relationship with your mother-in-law!

You know, I thought Jason was the same way, but the other day, my brother told me that when they were talking at the hospital a few weeks back (for mama's surgery) that Jason said he wasn't just there for me, he was there for my mama too. That made me happy to hear; guess she doesn't annoy him as much as I think she does.

That is really nice!

My DH cares for my mom (because she is my mom I am sure) but she gets on his nerves. Mostly because she gets on my nerves and I talk to him about it all the time so he doesn't see much good in her. There is some but she sometimes makes it hard to see or remember :bbconfused:

I know how that is...that's why I thought Jason was annoyed by her...in fact, I'm sure there are times when he still is. But I think he's also realized that I am my mother's best friend (ever seen Gilmore Girls...ya, we're the real live version) and that's something he's going to have to deal with.

Not me...I'm up because it's raining and I'm so mad that it's raining that I don't want to hear it. So I have headphones on blasting music so I can't hear it. That's just sad...

As far as Matt liking his MIL, I'm sure he does. He loves to tell me how much my father drives him nuts though. My dad is such a know it all, he'll ask you a question and then answer it for you!!! It even drives me nuts! But I know that he also loves my dad, he actually tells my parents he loves them but doesn't say I love you to his own family!!! Funny how that works!!

I'd like to jump in on this. I had the best MIL with my first hisband. Her and I still talk today. Even if Idotn ahve the kids I can go over there and sit and talk with her. Her and I used to go shopping all the time when her son and I were together. My mom is not here adn my FMIL is 13 hours away so she is all I have. As for my FMIL, I am not sure where we stand. Since she has heard we were getting married she has been great. Her and I hve talekd a few times on the phone. Nicholas is her only child so he and her will always be close. closer now that they live so far apart lol if that makes any sense. I know we will be fine as MIL and DIL. It will just take some doing seeing we are so far apart. As for Nicholas and my mom, he likes her. And she adores him. But with my faily my ex will always be part of them still, even though they never see him. He and I were together soooo **** long that it's like he is part of the family. They still send him B-day cards and my sister sends him pictures of the kids. He has never even seen the youngest.

I missed this thread when it was started. I too have the most awesome FMIL!!! She is positive, supportive, kind, and loving. She welcomed me into the family as soon as we started dating with a hug and has never once made me feel uncomfortable. Joel and I had our first date on 12/16/02, and I spent Christmas with them at their house and they even got me Christmas presents!! Then in May of 2003 I became homeless, due to my brothe rnad his family deciding to up and move in at her mother's house, and FMIL let me move in. This was big since she is a Christian and Joel and I were not married....I guess she must have known in her heart that we would be someday!!! Also, the first Mother's Day that I was with him I got her a card and since my mom passed away in 2001...she knew that it was hard for me. She told me that even though she knows that she cannot replace my mom...she will do her best!!! I just love her, becuase she accepts me and I know that she loves me!!! Anyways...I am done now..lol!!!
