What about lucky bamboo shoots? Or something with a double happiness symbol?

i looooove the chopsticks idea.. :) Or the bamboo shoots.. see if you cant find them cheap and include a piece with a little note saying basically please take one..
You could put them all in one big pot and have everyone take from that one.
or if you want to splurge have like a "do it yourself" kind of favor. have one big pot with lots of little bamboo shoots. and dirt and rocks in another container.. and a stack of those minipots and have everyone put otgether their own unique plant :)

I didn't have an Asian theme, but I did have a springtime outdoor wedding, so I got these:

They come with a variety of thread colors at the bottom, but it would be super easy to cut them off and add black and red ribbon.

I went with the candy tin since it was cheaper and I could DIY it. Here is some of the pics of the process

I had the asian themed wedding
I had a mix of 2 favors.
I had these favors filled with Jordan Almonds

I also had these gold favor boxes with red ribbon you could use white ribbon

In these boxes we had couple magnets, they had our name and date of the wedding on them. It was real cute, since I am Vietnamese I pick the Vietnamese couple but they have chinese and other couples. I ordered from the link below and they did a great job shipping out my favors fast.

I am making my own Chinese take out containers, I found free templates online but realized they only come in a 8.5X11 either that or you would have to buy a template. Instead I freehanded my own template to fit a 12X12 Cardstock, and to my amaze, they turned out really nice!.. I will have to upload pictures of it for you guys to see!!..
We created chopsticks that our names and wedding date on it then tied a ribbon around them and had them placed at each place setting.
There's a few places your can order them online. The great part is that it's a functional gift so people continue to remember our wedding for years after. Also, we had tons of leftovers so it's a great way for us to remember each time we eat :D

My head. It has exploded with cuteness! I think I'm going to have to start throwing Chinese New Year parties just for the Asian favors and decorations.

A cheap filler thing could be fortune cookies, like these (http://www.fancyfortunecookies.com/), you can custom make the paper say anything you want. They're just a sample there are like 1000 websites for custom fortune cookies.
