When I was part of a expectant mothers forum. It really helps in the summer when it's too hot to really cook and you have no idea what to do for dinner. It's a good place to get ideas. Espaecially for me because I never have any idea what to do for dinner when I get home from work
So tonight we are having steaks and baked potatoes! Yummy :bbmrgreen:

I have never in my life had mashed pumpkin for dinner and I'll be 50 years old next Thursday. And since Amber is my child, I can answer for her and say she has never had it either. I like pumpkin pie, but is pumpkin good like that? I was going to say is it like having mashed sweet potatoes, but I have never had mashed sweet potatoes either. I used to feed them to my babies though. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_3.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm824YYUS)

So pumpkin is not something you have with steak or chicken?? It's really normal to have steak with mashed potato, mashed pumpkin and beans. Or when we have a roast we have roast pumpkin as well as roast potato. I love pumpkin we have it here at least 2 times a week just like potato. Ohh and pumpkin soup YUM. Wonder what else is different??

I desperately need to go to the grocery store. That will be tomorrow. I just got home and scrounged around. I found a jar or spicy tomato sauce and penne in the cabinet and frozen baby shrimp in the freezer. So for dinner we are having shrimp sauteed in garlic, olive oil, and white wine then tossed with the spicy penne. I might even have a salad in the crisper.

OK, I assume this 'Poutine' stuff is french fries of some sort? I looked it up and this is what I found ...

Poutine is a popular Canadian meal consisting of french fries topped with fresh cheese curds and covered with hot gravy and sometimes other additional ingredients.

The curds' freshness is most important as it makes them soft in the warm fries, without completely melting. (When the curds are really fresh they will often squeak between the teeth.)

Poutine is a fast food staple in eastern Canada; it is sold by nearly all fast food chains.

I have to say I am not sure I want to try it :buck:

Tonight I had one of my favorite fast meals. Hamburg , corn, and mashed potatoes. I used instant potatoes. Faster when ya got 2 hungry kids askign a hundred times if supper is done yet. And I dont bake it all together to make a sheperds pie, takes longer lol.

My kids like hamburg and gravy over rice. Another good fast meal that fills them up.

If I had my way I would have meat and potatoes and veggies every ngiht. But that is not possible. I love tacos, and my moms spagetti. A good old boiled dinner is heaven. ( boiled dinner if you dont know..... ham, cabbage, turnips, potatoes, carrots all boiled together ) I LOVE it. I also love beef stew, better if left to sit over ngiht then heat it up the next day. Not sure why it just is. And I am not big on spagettie but my moms sause is to die for. You can eat just the sause it is so think and full of so much. She puts the procks chops in the sause still on the bone and after cooking ALL day it is so tender it falls off the bone.

I know I just went off there but I absolutely LOVE to eat.

For a quick supper for me I throw togethe some achos. I get the chips and put sliced velveeta cheese on top and throw it in the microwave to melt the cheese and then add some chuncky salsa ( medium ) on top. I love it.

I know this is about dinners but my all time favorite snaks is Humpty Dumpty Bar- B- Q chips ( has to be that brand , only get them around New England usually ) with philladelfia (sp?) cream cheese ( again that brand ) this I know is so bad for me but is sssooo good.

Ok I went off sorry lol.

Danny's favorite is pumpkin cookies. They are so yummy. I don't have the recipe with me or I would post it. They are easy and so addicting!!:hungry:

His Aunt sent me this recipe and I was surprised at how easy it is to make. Really good too.

IMPOSSIBLE HAM AND SWISS PIE
2 c. cooked ham, chopped
1 c. (about 4 oz.) natural Swiss cheese
1/3 c. chopped onion
4 eggs
2 c. milk
1 c. Bisquick
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease pie plate (10x1 1/2 inches). Sprinkle ham, cheese and onions into pie plate. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth. Pour into plate over the ham, cheese and onions. Bake until golden brown and a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Bake for 35-40 minutes.

There are a whole bunch of Impossible pie recipes here:
http://www.aliciasrecipes.com/impossible_pies.htm

I'd like to try the apple pie one. I bet that would be good.

I love how our South Pacific/Indian Ocean girls can remind us about dinner at breakfast here in the US.

Smashed pumpkin is pretty good. I've made it before. It is only that you can get it in the fall when the pumpkins are in season. You really make it the same way that you do butternut squash .A pumpkin is a squash after all. You just cut it in half, scoop out the insides, bake it down, peel it, then mash it like a potato with a little butter. (I add a pinch of cinnamon and salt)

Tonight, I have decided that I want turkey. So I am roasting a turkey breast and making open fact turkey sandwiches with mushroom gravy and french fries.
