Where to begin....Two years prior to meeting FH, I had ended a twelve year relationship with my daughter's father. Being a single mother had its ups and downs but I figured this was what was meant to be and was enjoying it. I wasn't looking for a relationship and went about my daily routine of going to work everyday and raising my daughter.
In January of 2004, a typical day in the office running around like crazy I was stopped in my tracks when I noticed a new face sitting at a desk. Now, working in a law firm, everybody knows everybody so you tend to notice a new face. Well, it turns out that he is the best friend of a co-worker and had just been hired. So after questioning my co-worker about the new employee, I find out that the new employee was also questioning my co-worker about me. Now, in speaking with my co-worker I found out that this new employee is very shy. Sooo, my heart fluttering like crazy I figured I would make the first move:bbredface:. I knew he rode a motorcycle and I love motorcycles so I used that as an in. We both just happened to be in the file room that day and I just coundn't wait any longer and so I asked him what kind of motorcycle he had. That got the ball rolling and he opened up pretty quick. After a few days of talking and flirting, I was leaving the office one night and was on the elevator and right as the doors were closing, he stepped in and gave me his number. We spoke on the phone that night and with the weekend coming up I asked if he would like to come over and hang out, order some food, have a few beers and maybe watch a movie. He accepted and came over that saturday night in the middle of a snow storm and has been here ever since.
My birthday is in May so in May of 2004 I was turning 30 and was really depressed about it. So FH decided to take me to Vegas for my 30th B-day. On the night of my b-day we were sitting in our hotel room getting ready to go to dinner and a show when he gave me a b-day present (my favorite perfume) and he leaned in, gave me a kiss and whispered in my ear that he loved me. I couldn't believe it - the feeling of course was mutual but I didn't want to scare him away by saying it first (we both had really bad prior relationships so we were both pretty scared).
Christmas of 2006, we were sitting around the Christmas tree with my daughter opening presents and our favorite Christmas song came on the radio "All I want for Christmas is You" and FH handed me a gift to open and to my surprise it was an engagement ring. We had had a very bad year in 2006 having to put unexpected money out so I wasn't expecting it.
And now here we are getting married in 20 days!!!!!!! Looking back at all that has happened in the last 4 + years, I never would have thought that I would have a "love at first sight" story and I wouldn't change a thing!
