Is anyone else having a grooms cake? I don't think it's a huge popular thing these days but we decided to go with it because my fiance can't have dairy, so there will be something he can have cake wise.

I thought about having a groom’s cake, however decided not too. We are going to be having a lot of food, and more then likely no one will finish the regular cake. At the place we are having the reception they do not allow guest to take out the food. Therefore, we cannot send the cake home with them.
However, in your case it is a wonderful idea!
We are having a groom's cake, but it will be served at the rehersal dinner because we can't bring food into the reception hall. I am making it for him. It will be a fudge chocolate with fudge pudding in the middle and decorated like a soccer ball. I hope he likes it.

Jade, that's sweet.
We're trying to keep costs down, so we haven't even considered a groom's cake. He doesn't care one way or the other as long as the main cake is yummy.
