This is out of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

MOH orders dress. Dress comes in. Wrong dress. She asks why. They tell her the one she wanted wouldn't "work for someone your size." Claim that the one she wanted couldn't go up to her size without messing up the look, so they ordered her a different one without telling her.

This looks like a case of bad bad customer service. Regardless of whether it's a wedding dress or a pair of overalls for milking Bessie, no one deserves this treatment.

This is a classic case of six of one, half a dozen of the other.

They should have told Her the Dress was changed. But She also went in for measurements and didn't even notice the difference.

I quote:

Craig readily acknowledged that the manager should have consulted Tia. "No question about that," said Craig. "But the manager found something similar that would work. It was so similar that Tia came in for fittings and didn't notice it wasn't the same dress. "

I asked her about that and she told me she's not really into dresses, I told Craig. She just saw that it was black, strapless and floor-length.

My Car looks Blue. When i went to pick it up i was handed the keys to the "Blue Ford Focus".
When i got home i looked at the Logbook and the colour is Green!. Does that mean i can get My money back and still keep the car.
I don't think so. :bbeek:

How horrible! That poor girl, I can't even imagine how humilitating! For them not to give her a refund on something she didn't pick out is wrong not to mention the comments they made to her. I hope nobody else goes to that store after reading this!

BTW - That journalist is a horrible writer for being in the type of profession that he is in! (Not that you asked, but I thought I'd put forth my opinion on that too!)

Mitch, I agree with you for the most part. But I'd say their screw-up was a bit bigger and ruder than hers. Half of the dress price sounds about right, although there was no need to humiliate her that way on top of ordering a dress she didn't even ask for. And I don't follow the guy who said "She can't say she's not into dresses" and then get upset about the wrong dress. Well, yeah, she can. You expect the product you ask for, regardless of if you love it or just need it for a one-time thing. Both sides are at fault some, but I don't think a half-refund is wrong at all.

I totally agree that they shouldn't have said what they did about Her size. That is totally bang out of order.
But all that comes back to Me is the fact She tried it on and never even noticed the difference. Then as soon as She did, it wasn't right in Her eyes and She hated it.

I think that's cr*p. The store is way more at fault than she is. It would be one thing to explain that the one she chose wouldn't fit her but might we suggest this one here... it's another thing to go and do it behind her back. Whether she had her heart set on the Levkoff one and knew every stitch in it, or whether she couldn't tell you a thing about it doesn't matter--its the one she chose, and paid for, and thought she was getting. But really, I don't think the switching the dress part is so bad--giving her a hard time about it is where I see a problem. They should have said yes, we ordered a different one for this reason, but since it is not the one you ordered you're not responsible for it. That's how I see it.

I agree that it's mostly the stores fault, but I'm going to go back to the beginning for my reasoning. Why was she even trying on/looking at dresses that came no where near her size??? I'm a size 20 and there is no way I would try on a dress or even consider a dress that only came in a 12...and it should be the stores job to know what dresses come in what sizes, etc. There are all kinds of reason's she might not have noticed it was different...it doesn't say that she tried it on, does it? All it says is that it was black strapless and floor length (Granted, I can't imagine why she wouldn't have tried it on), so maybe she didn't, or maybe she was really busy and was just trying to get out of the store in a hurry. Plus, why would one assume she needs to go behind and double check the consultants work? Anyways, as someone who has worked in customer service most of my life, that situation was mishandled from the beginning! I hope she gets her money back, and I think only asking for half is generous.

I will say though, that she shouldn't have taken the dress out of the store. That was probably a big mistake.

Well the link load but wow, it sounds like a salesperson was suffering from a moment of temporary insanity.
