sort of ... it wasn't from the tattoo, but because I was visiting my Dad who was in the hospital with a staph infection (didn't know at the time) while the tattoo was fresh.

I don't remember if I told them, but I wasn't trying to hide it or anything.

No. But I *have* done everything else but. My last tattoo I remembered a deep breathing exercise to alter my bio-mechanics and that took away the pain -- but only for the last 45 minutes!

2. When did you get your first​ tattoo?​
When I was 22 years old. Maybe 23. Can't quite remember.

A red rose with pink highlights on the petals and black leaves.

All of them. I only get tattoos to mark life-altering events.

No.

Yes and no. My last tattoo was supposed to be diamond-shaped and not square, but it's on my back and when the guy put the purple template on me, I had to look in a mirror and I *thought* it *was* diamond shaped. It's still beautiful work though and I've gotten used to it now. Nothing is wrong with it otherwise -- the color is good, the outlining is nice, it's high-quality work, it's just . . . 90' from where it should have been.

No -- and I never will.

8. What was the most painf​ul tatto​o you received?​
I think the small of my back and my ankle are both at the top of the list. My ankle was slightly worse -- I was afraid I wouldn't be able to let him finish it. Only the thought of going around for the rest of my life with a half-finished tattoo on my body kept me in the chair.

9. How many tatto​oos do you have?​
I have four. Although I want to get at least 1 more in the next 1-2 years. But it'll be big and finding the money is going to be very difficult. I could possibly break it up into two different tattoos, one on each arm, but the total cost would still be the same, so, yeah, it'll be a while.

10. Do you have a tatto​o that you constantly​ have to explain?​
No. I don't explain them. Not unless I'm specifically asked, and so far, only one person in ten years -- a complete stranger -- has bothered to do so. Everybody else just says 'Nice ink' or 'I love your colors' and then goes on with life. My tattoos are very personal to me, and I kind of like not having to explain them all the time.

11. Have you ever gotte​n an infection from a tatto​o?​
No. I always make sure that the artists I go to work in shops that are as sanitary (and even sterile!) as much as they possibly can. Even in Chinatown in Manhattan, there was a clean, sanitary shop. That's the most important part of keeping yourself infection free!

12. Which​ one took the longe​st?​
So far, the 'big' one (it's not that big relatively speaking, only about 4" square) on the small of my back. Took a little over 2 hours.

13. Did you tell your paren​ts?​
I wasn't planning on it, but one day I wore a swimsuit when they were there, and they saw all of the ones I had at the time. Let's just say that my parents were not amused, and I've been careful not to let them see my tats ever since. I don't need that kind of judgement from my parents.

14. Do you regre​t havin​g gotte​n any of your tatto​oos?​
Nope!

15. Would​ you consi​der ever getti​ng any of your tatto​oos remov​ed?​ Never! Although my first one will be integrated into my next one.

16. What are you going​ to get for your next tatto​o?​
A butt-load of Celtic knotwork. Hence why it's so expensive! From the point of my left shoulder, down across my bicep, and ending at the bottom of that muscle.

17. Do you have any tribal tatto​os?​
Depends on what you consider 'tribal'. I have a blackwork rose and dagger on my ankle, but it's just blackwork. The rose's leaves are black, and the others are Celtic.

4. Different artists for each piece, since each piece I have is a different style.

19. Do any of your tatto​oos have color​?​
Yes, all but the blackwork on my ankle. I enjoy color in my tattoos, and I'm not one of those unfortunate people who are allergic to the color inks.

20. Where​ is the one place​ you won'​t get a tatto​o?​
I don't think I'll get another tattoo on my ankles. That was really dreadfully painful and I thought the cost of the pain was too high for what I received. I have a surgical scar just above my ankle tattoo that I thought about covering with a tattoo and integrating the two tats into one, but then I remembered how badly it hurt and thought better of it, particularly as the scar continues to fade, even 3+ years on. Now the scar is hardly noticible, I think I made a good choice in deciding against trying to cover it with a tat.
