I am really new at this do it yourself stuff and was wondering if someone could give me some ideas on how to go about making my own wedding programs. What computer program would be best to create them? I would appreciate your ideas.

What sort of program do you want to make?
You should be able to format Word with columns for a bi-fold or tri-fold one. Then you could print it on pretty paper.

I just did some for a wedding this past Aug and everyone was talking about them...I was sick of them by that time since it was 325 and then I asked a question to the Mother of the Bride on grandparents (several sets of remarriages) and to who when with whom and they found out they had left off the grooms grandfather. So.....I had to get the bride, Mom and even Dad, bridesmaid to get to the Mom's house. Then I showed them how to carefully pull out the center (so I would not have to reprint the outer cover)...then the Dad (LOL) was the only one willing to learn out to cut the edges to look pretty (lucky I had taken both of my small cutters with me) and while he and I cut the rest were glueing them back to the cover......never again....LOL
Anyway I went to Staples and got nice white 25lb weight paper and put the design on the cover so that it would fold in half. The back I printed the Thank you message from the Bride and Groom. Then I bought 20lb weight red paper, printed the program (Word you can set up to do two columns). Then took a scrapbooking cutter adn went around all the edges to make a nice fancy edge. We then glued them to the cover added a nice 1/8 wide piece of black ribbon down the middle like a bookmark (we attached at the top with doubleface tape) then folded and there you go.....the colors for the wedding were white, red and black so we had all the elements in there and they were unique over the standard bought ones.
Hope that helps just do what feels good and you will do fine. If you have a large wedding party and a large guest list have a bridesmaid lunchon. You all get together, brides has a nice luncheon and then sit around a do programs.

Thanks for the input. I was also wondering what kind of information should be included in the programs. I am hispanic and in our culture we ask family members and friends to help "donate" for our wedding amenities. We call them "padrinos and madrinas" in which they donate money to cover music, photography, etc. or they will donate items such as a rosary, bible, toasting glasses, etc. I would like to include those who help out in our programs but don't know how to go about it. Also, I was hoping I could see others' programs to get some ideas. Thanks

Here is a bi-fold sample with a downloadable template -
weddingprogramsfast.com (http://www.weddingprogramsfast.com/WeddingProgramTemplate1.htm) (I think it is like $2 though)
You could add a special thanks and/or "padrinos and madrinas" notice on the back to make 4 sides.

You would put the Padrinos and Madrinas on the back page above the Thank you note from the Bride and Groom.
If I can help in anyother please let me know, I love helping brides make their dreams come true at a price they can afford.
If you would send me your Email I can send you a copy of the one I just did if that will help give you an idea of where to go. I thought I could upload it here but it will not work for some reason.
