I've been collecting mine and FH's grandparents' wedding pictures to display at our wedding, so I thought I'd share. The first is my dad's parents in 1943, and the second is my mom's parents in 1949.

I love old wedding pictures. They just hold so much history in them. I wish I had a scanner. My dad's parents have a beautiful picture that I would love to share. Too bad their marriage isn't as beautiful as that picture. *sigh*

Those are great!

I am collecting & scanning old family photos as well. I want to frame and display them in our home. I like the "look of them" but I also think it's nice to be reminded of where you come from :)

I have some of my my parents, my grandparents & an odd photo here and there of my great grandparents. I am particularly fond of the portraits.

This is my grandmother. My mother says that I look like her????

Love the 1949 one! My grandparents' looks similar to that... I think they got married in 1945... not much extravagance because of the war. They got married at a courthouse. My grandma wore a suit and corsage, too. I love their picture.

Just think-one day our wedding photos will be family heirlooms! Isn't it neat to think of your future grandchildren poring over your wedding album?

Ok, you guys made me want to go hunting for a photo I knew I had of my paternal grandma and grandpa.

My grandfather just died a couple months ago and JD made a memorial slideshow. This was one of the images we used in it, and I just love it. They look so happy and my Grandma is so cute. If I'd seen this before I got married, I might have had to borrow her dress for our wedding!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3078/2882421373_3e7d8c25b2.jpg?v=0

Sorry for the low quality! I had to screenshot it off the slideshow because I don't know where JD has the file.

I could hunt an find one of my parents but I think my mawmaw & papa were just married in a small (post WWII) service. I dont know that any pictures are still around from that.

But my mom has a picture of my Great Gramma at a singing school in Tennessee and she always told me if you can find yourself in the photograph thats your Great Gramma and when Fh saw the picture for the first time he was like "Holy:cloppy: the resemblence is creepy!" its like looking at me in the dress & hairstyle of over 100 years ago!

If We could get Our Scanner to work i would have put up a Photo of My Mum and Dads Wedding.

They were Married 54 Years Ago Today.

Sadly Dad passed away after 44 Years of Marriage.
He always said it would be "Till Death Us Do Part". :bbcry:

My parents and grandparents all ELOPED! So sadly no pictures.

The first is my great grandparents on my dad's side from 1921, and the second pic is my dad's parents shortly before they eloped in 1943

I love that pic of your great grandparents! Those are exactly the kind we are collecting.

It always makes me sad to go through flea markets or antique shops and see beautiful portraits of people. It makes me wonder who they were and how did their photo end up here.

I know right? I am a huge family history buff, and have had family vacations around cemetaries, libraries and so on. Many eople think I am crazy but if I don't preserve it who will? The pic of my gg grandparents was te only one in existance, and over the years it was damaged by a marker and scratches, and a very dear friend of mine spent days fixing it up for us. When my grandma seen it all shiny and new, she cried. :bbcry:

I have piles and piles of old photos, and absolutley love them!

Aww, those are all great! I wish I had my grandparents' pictures scanned. I've seen my grandparents' pictures on my mom's side, and they look pretty similar to the ones on here.

What I found very interesting was the video that my great grandma made around the years when my grand parents were married. She never focused on one thing, she was spinning the camera around like crazy, so there'd be about a one or two second glimpse of any individual person. And each event wasn't even in one time of the tape, she'd have about a minute or less of each even, then it would go on to another thing and sometimes come back to the events that had already been shown. I really don't know how she did that. Nonetheless, it was still cool to watch.

This is from my aunt's wedding. My mom is the one in the pink hat. God, there's so many things to love about this picture. The suits, the perms, the fro, the facial hair, the hats, I could go on!

My grandpa is in the grey suit, and my grandma is right behind my aunt (the bride). My mom is still the one in pink.

Great photos, I never see any of my family's besides the very posed formal group shots.i actually took these out of their wedding album... i was surprised at how many "informal" shots there were... i love it tho b/c my grandpa n my dad are like identical LOL

I just noticed that my aunt had this on her facebook page... It's a picture I've seen many times, and I love it. It's my mom's parents' wedding picture. I'm not sure what year it was, but it was sometime in the 50's.

Ok! Now that I've finally figured out my wonky picture posting problem.... here are the pics of my parents wedding!

My mom and dad:
http://dodgercpkl.com/pics/momdadwedding/File0024cropped1.jpg
(this pic sparked a "my daughter MUST have a real wedding dress even if I pay extra for it" frame of mind for my mom. Funny thing is that I think that dress is SOOOO my mom ya know? I can't imagine her in something froofy. lol)

The families:

Pictured here are my grandparents on my mom's side with her youngest sister Anita, my mom and dad, and my grandparents on my dad's side with his only sister (and only sibling) Debbie.

Reception shot:

My Uncle Dale is the singer, I've no idea who the piano player is. lol

My parents with the priest or pastor.

My parents with the priest and the best man and maid of honor. I have no idea who they are. lol
