I wasn't sure if this should go in "Frustrations" or "Colours" so i went safe and put it here. :ooh:
I popped into the Hairdressers today to see about getting My Hair Dyed for the Wedding. I was planning on going Black. But the woman said it would look too harsh. So then i thought a Deep Red / Plum / Maroon. But when i mentioned i was wearing a Red Dress She reckons it will look too much. And if i really like the Red (Which i had when FH first met Me and adores most) Then i should go Red AFTER the Wedding. Which in My eyes is paying twice.
She then suggested a rich Mocha Colour. To Me it is too near "Normal" and that's just not ME. It was too Brown and a little boring. No offence meant to Brunettes. I was one originally.
Now i don't know what to do. I accept that maybe the Black is a bit harsh because i'm pale. But i really would like a shade of Red. But She has put Me off.
I have until October 1st to make My mind up. (With a little help Here of course lol) Inside My Dress is a little strap to hang it up from the waist. I plan on cutting that off and taking it into the salon to show the true colour of the Dress without having to drag it over there.
What colour do You think i should go for?
Here's the Dress.

And a close up of the Colour. (Excuse the Buttonhole Flower, it was used on another Thread here)

How about black with red chunks?
Like a deep deep chocolate brown (almost black) with red highlights.
Then you have the best of both worlds BUT the red would tone down the harshness of the black and the black would subdue the brightness of the red.
while still looking like completely original & unique, Mitch.:grinhappy:
Dont worry about us brunettes:winktongue: sometimes it does get a little dull being all one tone...so I change it up with blonde, red or golden highlights.
I saw this really awesoem color job today....you know how some people are going blonde on top with dark brown underneath....this lady came in to my work and she was blonde on top with hot pink underneath....at first It wasn't registering and I was thinking to myself is that red or pink? But then I realilzed it was bright pink and it looked so pretty!

I think a deep auburn with red highlights would look PERFECT with your dress! Mocha doesn't fit your personality at all!!! :)

I was a red head for 8 years. My best friends didn't know what my natural shade was. My prom dress was the same color as your dress and I had bright red hair. When it's styled, the color becomes a bit more muted from product, being curled, pulled back, so on and so forth. I think the black with red chunks was an excellent idea. You could even do auburn with different shades of red. When the sun hits it, it's definitely brilliant.

Thanks Ladies.
I did have My Hair the colour of Sharon Osbournes once. When She went for the Red with Black and it did look good. But i don't have any photos of it to show You all.
I am secretly leaning towards that again. And reading the responses so far it looks that way again.
The only problem was it soon faded to the Auburn / Light Brown / $hitcolourbymoonlight i have now

Ugh I hate when it fades. Drives me nuts. I started using the John Frieda for red hair and that helped some. I just like it the best when it's that vibrant, right out of the bottle collor.

I agree that black hair may be too harsh but do you think of rich mocha with some scarlet highlights ?

OMG I have so saved those pics to my Laptop. I'll be dragging it over to the Salon and show the Lady there.
Liz You are a Goddess for finding those.
That's exactly what i was thinking of when i was walking home from the Salon.
Those are more ME.

I like the 2nd pic for the brown because it's a warm rich colour. Adding the highlights makes it fun, young, sassy and flirty :) The bigger the chunk the bolder the statement.

The red and black is definitely you. Find a different hair stylist that will work with You. Love those last pictures!

I too was thinking black or dark brown with red highlights. Quite honestly, I've never had red hair, so I wouldn't know what it would look like with different colors and a red dress, but I guess I dont see how that wouldn't look right? I think it would look great and very much you. Although, it seems now you are set on the black with red highlights, what about doing red with black lowlites??

Ooh, I LOVE that look!!! Do you think maybe you could take your dress (or a swatch if you have one) with you so that she could make sure that the red she's putting in your hair won't clash with the dress? Because some reds are more golden, and some are more orangy.. you would want it to be in the same color family atleast.. Post pictures once you get it colored so we can all see!!!!!

I love red hair and have it myself and I wear red too with no problems ;)
I love the pics Elizabeth posted; I was going to mention something like that. Or maybe the red you like with black undertones. I am thinking of doing something like that myself.
Sort of like this -

I like where this conversation is going. I don't think the black will be too harsh - only because it suits you and your fun spirit - but I also disagree that red hair and a red dress isn't a good idea. So I'm just contrary! (But perhaps that's just because when I had red hair I wanted to wear red more and I'm stubborn and refuse to admit that was a bad idea!)
The chunky hair pics above are outstanding - I think that would look REALLY awesome on you. :)

Well Ladies i cancelled the appointment at the Salon.
I'm driving through to see Our Witness on Saturday. Who just so happens to be an Hairdresser too. Which is handy :winktongue:
She agrees with the Black and Red. But i think She is going to put a few streaks of Maroon (Deep Red) in to give it a bit of Va-Va-Voom.
Her Husband has a Gig miles from Home (He's Our other Witness) So We're going to have a bit of a Girlie Night without the Guys. FH is staying home to do an Internet Radio Show.
And if He's really good i wont leave Him the Housework to do

Finally got a photo of the new hair colour. But the Red isn't showing up much. But it is there. It shines when the Sun hits it. But this is England so no Sun today lol.
Please excuse the massive Gremlin Spot on My face.
