Haha, okay, the date is set FOR GOOD now! I figured I'd go ahead and make a new thread since the old one had the wrong date. It won't be changed again! :grinhappy:
About Us:
Nichole:
20 years old
Currently working as a kennel attendant at the local Humane Society.
Does some graphic design/webpage design and a bit of photography on the side.
Wants to open her own pet shop one day. ;)
Ryan:
26 years old
Attended culinary school and was a chef for many years.
Currently working as an insurance agent for AFLAC with a part time job on the side.
Aspires to become an actor.
How We Met:
Ryan & I met on Myspace, believe it or not. I was randomly looking up people in my general area one night and came across his profile. I was immediately drawn to him, not only by the fact that we had a lot in common, but I thought he was adorable! I'm a sucker for guys with curly hair.
We chatted for a couple of weeks and decided to meet in person when he invited me to a party at his friends house. I knew from the moment I met him that we were destined to be together. The more time we spent together, the stronger my feelings grew for him. We made it official two months later and I've never looked back! That was back in May 2007.
The Proposal:
We spent a lot of time talking about the future and always knew that we would end up getting married. He joked around a lot, telling me that he was planning on asking me sometime this year, but wouldn't give me any clue to when it was. I must say though, when he asked he caught me off guard!
We took a week long trip up to the Chicago area to visit family. The day after we got there we went to the botanic gardens (which he had planned). It was kind of worried since it was raining, but sucked it up since he wanted to go. The rain broke when we arrived and once we got inside, he immediatley took me to the English Walled Garden. He took me over to this beautiful spot by the wall, right by a bench inbetween some beautiful flowers. Again, I was worried as the weather was starting to act up again and suggested that we go inside and wait it out. It was then that he suprised me by getting down on one knee, with a huge smile on his face, and asked "Will you marry me?". I was shocked, but said yes without a second thought! We spent several minutes hugged and kissing in the rain, then went inside to wait it out. Not long after it stopped and we were able to enjoy a gorgeous sunny day at the gardens. It was perfect. :)
The Plans So Far
Location: Mountain Home, Arkansas
The Date: April 25th, 2009
The budget: $5,000
The guestlist: Somewhere between 60-100 people. We are still working on that one, lol.
The colors: Black, pale pink and silver.
We have our venue booked! We will be having it at the local country club. We are currently planning on getting married at FH's church, but... we are still keeping an eye out for a place outdoors that may work, too. We already talked to the person we are hiring for a DJ. We are just waiting on the funds to come from my mom to put a deposit down. We have a photographer in mind, just need to contact him. I've been looking at dresses, but won't actually get to go shopping until December (ugh, I know!).
But, that's about all we have accomplished so far. I'll update as things come along. ;)

I also have our "Save the Date" cards completed. I just need to get around to buying the stock and getting them printed. :) (Edit: Ooops, didn't realize it was as big as it is! It looks much better printed than it's showing up now.)

We have also decided that instead of doing programs, we will be handing out scrolls as people come in for the ceremony with the following:
"The Irish Claddaugh beautifully symbolizes
the reasons we are gathered here today.
If you look closely at the gold Claddaugh you
will see a splendid crown adorning a heart.
Two hands cradle this heart, holding and protecting it.
The heart represents love, the crown loyalty,
the hands friendship.
Not only does the claddaugh represent our relationship,
but also each of you are represented in the Claddaugh
because of your meaning to us!
We, Nichole and Ryan, thank each of you for
the love, loyalty and friendship you bring into our lives.
We are honored to have you here today
to share our joy as we join in marriage."
It will be bound with a ribbon and tied to the ribbon will be a small claddaugh charm... the same charm we will use on the invitations and favors.

awww i love the scroll idea. do you have a website of the country club? i love seeing venues from around the country where people are having their weddings.
i love the date too. that was my original date but i forget what happened to make it impossible haha maybe easter is the next day?

Oh I really like your save the date cards! And the I love what you're putting on the scrolls. My first ring from FH had the claddaugh. It's a beautiful symbol.

Our original date was supposed to be April 14th, but we then realized it was Good Friday. We ended up pushing it back not only because of that, but my step-dad has some work related stuff come up to where he couldn't come the first couple weeks of April. I'm happy though, I wanted an April wedding and still get it. :)
As for the venue, they don't have any pictures of the dining room in which our reception will be held. I did find a picture of the outside of the building though.

We really wanted to use traditional irish symbols throughout the wedding. It was very important to FH to incorporate his heritage. The first ring he gave me was a Claddaugh as well. :)

Ergh, we are having a hard time finding a photographer that we can afford. I'm hoping that because FH is involved in the local theatre he can find someone who knows someone (and actually does a good job!). I know there are a ton of really good amateur photographers around here... I just don't know how to find them!
We are still working on getting the church secured. My FMIL is currently being a pain in my rear by A) Not getting us the information on the church like she said she would and B) Not getting me a list of addresses to send on the STD's that I asked for three weeks ago! *sigh*
On the upside, we have decided that for favors we are going to do flavored chocolates from a claddaugh mold. We will put them in little favor boxes and tie them with either a pink or black bow and put a little note on there with the wedding date and such. I'm hoping it will turn out as well as it looks in my mind, anyway, lol.
Time just keeps passing by and I don't feel like I'm really getting anything accomplished for the wedding. I hate relying on other people, but in this case... I don't have a choice! I'm frustrated that they can't follow my time table, but then again, what can you expect? I know that my wedding is not their top priority, so I guess I will have to deal with it.

Whohoo, the church is booked! All we have to do is turn on the fee and we are set. :) We have to go in and talk to the preacher one of these evenings to find out if we have to do pre-marital counseling and get everything in order that needs to be figured out.
I bought the stuff to start making my STD's today! I've got a few done so far and have all of the envelopes printed. As soon as I finish and buy some stamps, they will be on their way! Here is the final product. I didn't like my original idea, but this is what I came up with in the end and both FH and I liked it. The invitations will be much more formal.

Yep, I'm doing them myself. I ran out of ribbon, but it only cost me $20 to get all the supplies from Walmart to make them. Of course, the printing was free since I used to work at a print shop and the people there love me. :P I was dead set on having them printed on a laser... my inkjet just didn't cut it!

Great. So, we weren't told this ahead of time... when we went to put the money down for the church we were asked to fill out a form. On this form, it stated that A) the couple must attend church services every Sunday (which, I can't anyway... I work all day Sunday) B) he will not marry anyone who is living with each other. One of us would have to move out of our own house until after the wedding, and C) we both had to write an essay of our "testimony of faith"... which is a problem, since I'm not a christian.
So, awesome... we now have no ceremony place. Now we have to start back at the beginning. I'm trying to find a place that isn't a church... but I haven't found ANYTHING. This isn't a wedding friendly place, that's for sure.
:( I'm bummed.

We went yesterday and did our gift registries. It was so much fun!! I'm glad to have that out of the way... one less thing to worry about!
I also bought the "I Do" letters for our cake table and some stuff to make the bird seed packets for the ceremony. I didn't find any fake flowers that really caught my eye at Hobby Lobby that I could use for the centerpieces, but hopefully when we go back in a couple of months I can find something.
I just now saw your garters & they are beautiful!
So, there is a Hobby Lobby in Mt Home???? I did not know this!! :o Awesome!
Why not get married out by the lake? There used to be a fancy hotel out there that would let you get married on their balcony~type area. That was years ago but I bet you could find something of the sort for your ceremony??

Actually, we ended up taking a trip to Springfield. It was a last minute thing since FH is starting a new job this week and I have no clue when we will both have the same day off again.
We contacted my grandparents church and we are going to do it there. We won't have to pay anything and Ryan knows someone who is going to preform the ceremony for us. All we need to do it put down the cleaning deposit and we are set!
We are also supposed to be meeting with the DJ on Thurs. I hope he shows up this time. Not sure what happend last time... I guess there was a miscommuncation. :snide:

Reading through everyone elses journals today I feel like I am sooooo behind. I can't go dress shopping until the first of December since my mom wanted to be down here for it (plus, she has the money! lol). I've been holding off on talking to a florist until then because I really don't know what we need for decorations. I'm wanting to do the centerpieces myself to save money... but so far I just haven't found anything to make that really stands out.
I really wish that I had a better idea of what the heck I'm doing. I've never even been to a wedding before (was supposed to go to one on Nov. 1st but now can't afford to go). I feel like I'm walking into this blind!! It also doesn't help that FH is not showing any interest in helping me plan, either.

I feel the same way! One of my MOH's called me on it the other day too. She was like, in five years, I have NEVER seen you like this. I have no real words of wisdom other than you're not alone! If you ever need a shoulder to vent on or to be totally clueless on, I'm here. :gathering:

Hmm are you looking for tall or low centerpieces.. i loveeeee curly willow centerpieces, they are very dramatic and high but you can make them elegant or casual depending on what your going for..

also if your looking for FLORALS - the ones that look soo real but obviously, arent, HYDRANGEAS.. a coiuple of those go SUCH a long way in a centerpiece.. my original idea was to have 3 stems of hydrangeas, one curly willow and one orchid in each low centerpiece.. the curly willow and orchid obviously stand out on top - just a thought to try and bounce ideas around.
Also, the dollar tree had some REAAAAALLY nice candle holders (sqaured ones that were awesome) and table runners i bought, im sure if you have one by you, you could find something to get your mind reeling with ideas!
Well, I don't know what you are looking for in a centerpiece ~ big n' tall or short n' small ~ but here are a few pictures I like. I think making something like this would be inexpensive because Wal-Mart carries beautiful containers (some very nice ~ half rounded/half rectangular) for $3.97 each. You can get flowers anywhere...
So, here are some small arrangement ideas for you...

Not much else has been going on lately... my grandma brought over our toasting glasses and they look great! I also painted our "I Do" letters for the cake table. That's about all that's been accomplished as of late. lol
Oh! I almost forgot... we were pretty much planning on NOT having a honeymoon since it wasn't going to be in the budget, but I happend to mention that maybe we could drive up to Chicago and stay for 4-5 days. That way we won't spend a ton of money on airfare and would still be able to get away. FH was thrilled with that idea and asked me if I would let him plan the whole thing and it be a suprise for me. Of course, I agreed (on the condition that we stay in a nice hotel... I want to be pampered afterall. :P) What an awesome guy I have! :D
I luv Chicago! It is soooo fun to visit and there is always lots to do!! You will have a GREAT time!!!!
If you want to stay somewhere super-fancy that is DIRECTLY off Michigan Avenue (like 30 seconds from the corner and the Cheesecake Factory and EVERYTHING).. check-out www.hotrooms.com (http://www.hotrooms.com) - this website is devoted to getting nice hotels in Chicago at inexpensive rates. I recommend The Tremont. It is owned by Mike Ditka and his restaurant is on the ground floor of the hotel, by the lobby. It is SUPER nice and a GREAT location and about 1/2 of the price of most hotels in Chicago. There is a 24/hour coffee shop/cafeteria place across the street that is super cheap and FULL of interesting characters at 2pm and 2am. Fun Fun Fun
Just a tip!! ...and Enjoy your honeymoon! Sounds awesome!! :)

Thank you for the link! :)
I do love Chicago... it's sad that I lived only 2 hours from it for 16 years and had only been there a handful of times. We went last Christmas for a day trip (took the train from my mom's house in MI) and even though the trip was pretty awful, it turned out to be a great day! Then we went up this past Sept. for a few days while making the rounds to visit family and that is when FH proposed. So, it does hold special meaning. I wanted to get married in Chicago but it was too expensive, so I'm thrilled to be able to honeymoon there if nothing else.
There are sooo many things I still haven't seen. I haven't been to the Cheescake Factory or any of the museums. Heck, I haven't been to Navy Pier or the Shedd Aquarium in probably 8-10 years!

I'm sooo excitied, I went shopping yesterday and got all kinds of good stuff for the wedding! I bought two large black iron candle holders and two pink candles that will go on each end of the head table (still need to make something "spruce" it up), black favor boxes, guestbook, stuff to make flower girl basket and a wooden box/crate that I'm going to paint and use as our card box. We have a larger crate like that that we had planned on using for the cardbox, but I saw the smaller ones in Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and decided that we are going to use that instead. I already have the paint at home, so we should be good to go soon. In fact, I need to add that to my task list for this week!

I made a mock-up of the invitation last night. My printer was being weird and everything came out fuzzy and crappy looking (I guess I need to calibrate it), BUT, it was good enough that I could cut everything down to size and get an idea of what it's going to look like. I think it's going to work perfectly! Now I just need to get it in to the print shop and get everything printed & cut!
I also ordered envelopes from envelopemall.com today. They were soooo much cheaper than everyone else! I got the metallic envelopes in "rose quartz" for both invitations and rsvp cards. I think it will look wonderful all put together!

Got my envelopes today! They are PERFECT!! I'm so excitied that the invitations are coming together. I'm not sure if they will run through my inkjet or not since they have a sort of glaze feeling to them... but I'm thinking about buying a calligraphy pen and handwriting them anyway. I took calligraphy back in middle school (which was long enough ago that I probably suck at it now), but it was easy enough to learn the first time and I think it might add that "touch" to it. Still debating...

I am happy to say that in the last few days we have got so much accomplished!! I don't know where I would be if my mom hadn't come down and helped me out.
Ladies, I bought my dress yesterday!!!! I'm so excitied. And you know what? Things are actually REAL now. It's scary! I do have pictures, I'm just waiting on my aunt to send them to me. It took me seven dresses to find "the one". It was amazing really... there wasn't a mirror in the dressing room, so I hadn't seen myself in it. When I walked out everyone that was with me said "WOW". I then saw myself and knew! It's only going to take very minor alterations as well. We ordered it and it will be in the end of Feb! (oh my, we are cutting it close!)
But here is the funny part. We went in there with a pretty tight budget for the dress, veil and undergarments. I said there was no way I even wanted to spend anymore than that on a dress. But you know what? We spent almost DOUBLE the budget! :bbeek: I have to say, I love my mommy (though she told me her credit card was screaming when she paid, lmao).
So, I have the dress and veil ordered (plain with the white satin around bottom, which will by dyed the same pink as my bridesmaid dresses), undergarments and I bought some gorgeous shoes as well! I couldn't stomach the price of the tiara I wanted, so I'm going to have to do some ebay shopping.
Today, we are going by the reception venue and church to ask more questions, get a better idea on decorating, ect. Then we have an appointment with the florist. It's been a fun week! :D

Oh, I almost forgot! We also have the tuxes picked out and his is ordered. We are going with a traditional Kennith Cole 2 button, notched, pink vest and pink tie for him... same for the groomsmen/dads but with a black tie instead. ;)

We have our flowers ordered! I'm so thankful that is out of the way.
Bride's bouquet (cascade): Stargazer lily, pink rose, white/pink orchid
Bridesmaids bouquets (tied, staggered): Three pink roses, baby's breath
Groom's boutonniere: Pink rose & white/pink orchid
Groomsmen boutonniere: Pink rose
Dad's boutonniere: Pink rose & baby's breath
We are also having four arrangments made, two for the candlabras at the church and two that will be placed on pedistals. And the centerpieces will be a square vase w/ floating stargazer lily.

Not a lot has been going on. I've been out of the wedding planning mood lately. I am in the process of getting my invitations printed. I took them to the girls I used to work with (at a print shop) and they should be done next week. I sure hope I didn't make it too complicated though, lol. I got a a dirty look when I gave them the order. :P
Next on my to-do list... belly bands! I'm not sure what exactly I want yet.

I forgot to mention that against my better judgement, I have decided to do calligraphy on all of my invitation envelopes! :bbeek: I bought myself a decent calligraphy pen and set to work on playing with it. I must say, it came back to me a lot easier than I thought it would. I haven't even messed with calligraphy in... oh... seven years?
Despite the fact that I'm going to have about 80 to address, I think they are going to turn out great!

After some practicing, I decided to not address the envelopes myself. I couldn't get it to look as good as I wanted, so I'm just going to run them through the printer. Ah well... I tried.
I've also started working on my invitations. The girls at the print shop promised my stuff would be done by Friday, so in the meantime I'm working on belly bands. Here is what they will look like (printed on white paper, pasted on pink cardstock), along with pink ribbon.

We got FH's ring paid off, yay for checking that off the list!
I also bought our cake pans off ebay and they came today. I'm hoping FH can make a "mini" wedding cake for my birthday in March (we already made a small trial, but I want him to do at least one more test before the real thing!).
He also had me buy an Irish penny to wear on the wedding day, but, uh... it's bigger than a quarter. I'm not really sure where I'm going to put it! lol

I can't print out the belly bands to finish my invites, I can't print the envelopes, I can't work on our scrolls and I pretty much just feel like I can't accomplish anything!

I started printing the envelopes... the first 3-4 printed fine and after that my printer was messing up every other one. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do... I don't have that many extra envelopes. :(
On the upside... we booked our honeymoon today! Jamaica, here we come!

I'm guessing the printer is just not picking the envelopes up right, because some of them are printing off center (mostly half off the envelope). I tried messing with my settings, but it's a cheap inkjet so I don't have much hope... so I'm really not sure what I'm going to do. =/

I can't get a hold of two out of three of my bridesmaids. I'm very seriously doubting they ever ordered their dresses and am pretty much just expecting the worse from them.
I don't know, maybe it will be better once the invitations are sent out and people start RSVP'ing. Then again, with my luck no one but our families will show up, lol. Oh well... *sigh*

I got a call from one of my bridesmaids tonight. She wanted to double check on the color of the dresses because apparently David's Bridal has discontinued the dress that I selected in December. She found ONE dress in the whole freakin' country in the color I selected, in her size and is having it shipped to her tomorrow. All I can say is WOW!!! We got lucky on that one.
I FINALLY got a hold of my other girl tonight after talking to the one to make sure she had her dress. Apparently she bought it awhile back, but lost a bunch of weight so it doesn't fit anymore. I asked her about having alterations done and she said "she wasn't worried about it" right now. Ummm... I really hope that she gets it done in time, but at this point I just don't care anymore. I'd love to have her in my wedding, but if she doesn't show up in the dress that I picked out (that fits), well, what can you do?
I also have my first alteration appt. for next Tues! I'm really excitied to see my dress in white, since the one I tried on was ivory. :)
There is still so much to do though and I'm almost at the three month point! Eeeeek! It's sad though, the only thing on my mind right now is how I need to start tanning for the honeymoon, lol.

Ugh, holy ****! Bridesmaid #2 (the one I talked to late last night) just called freaking out. So, she bought her dress back in November and just realized last night that she got the wrong shade of pink. Instead of rose petal, she has candy pink. :censored: Someone kill me now!
So, there really isn't anything we can do about it. She's just not going to match the other two girls. Which, I suppose it will work out since we are using varying shades of pink throughout the wedding and I don't have a MOH anymore, so I won't have one girl pissed because she isn't the one that is "different".
*sigh* I'm so ready for the wedding to be over!!!!

So, we applied for our passports today. We kind of took a hit because I didn't expect to be paying cash (apparently uncle sam won't take credit cards!). But, well, at least that's out of the way.

Well, because of the ice storm I had to postpone my alterations appt. I'm hoping to go up there this Tuesday! I need to go up there anyway and get some things from Michaels/Hobby Lobby.
Invitations are going out a week from tomorrow!
My FMIL and her friend, who are throwing a bridal shower for me, picked out March 14th for it. I'm really excitied that they are doing it, but the downside is it's two days after my birthday... my twenty first birthday, which I'm taking the 13th off for since I planned on staying out all night. One more picture of the country club and a picture of the candleabras we are using at the church. They will have a very pretty floral arrangement in them for the wedding. :)

I have to say, I LOVE my mother!! She e-mailed me last night to let me know how we are doing on our budget. She set the budget at $5,000, but let me know that we have already spent $4,000 without paying off the photographer, DJ, florist and food/drink for the reception (which alone is $2,500 minimum). She is more than willing to put in the extra money though, so I am super thankful she is so understanding! She set the buget never having been through planning a wedding and didn't really understand just how much everything costs. I think she is starting to realize, lol.
Invitations are going out tomorrow! I'm super excitied. :D

I had a similar situation. I kept looking at out wedding fund and thinking we had plenty of money left over after everything we'd done so for.... then I realized I hadn't deducted the remaining fee for the photographer! Which was her entire fee minus $250.
Good thing I caught it early enough in the game!

I wanted to post our wedding cake inspiration pictures. FH is making it. :)
The first picture is the main inspiration. It will be three tiered, white, with stargazer lillies. It will be either almond or raspberry flavored white cake with a mascarpone and marsala filling.
We will also be adding a chocolate ganache to each layer, like in the second picture.

*sigh* This whole RSVP thing is getting depressing! So far, we have had 6 individuals RSVP no and only 3 with a yes. :( Everyone else in my counter is family & my bridal party that I KNOW is coming and didn't get RSVPs, lol.
If we keep going with these numbers we will have to come up with a plan B to fullfill the minimum payment for the country club.

Don't let the RSVP's get you down. You still have plenty of time to receive more yes's!
And think of it this way, the people who will be there? They are the ones who count anyways.

I told my bridal party that when the time comes, they have to RSVP, too ~ just cuz I want the mail! LOL
Don't get discouraged!! Pretty soon you'll be overflowing with RSVPS!!

As of today we can officially get our marriage license! I'm not sure why, but that just makes it seem so much more final. I can't believe we are getting married in 60 days!!! I think we are going to wait two more weeks until after my birthday to do so though. ;)

Ughhh... I can't believe we are less than two months from the wedding! Where has the time gone? I'm about to the freaking out point.
I cannot get the person in charge of our reception to e-mail or call me back. It's getting very frustrating! She is only there 3 days a week at odd hours so it's hard to catch her. They also upped the menu prices by $5 pp. Since they don't have any sort of contract, we are now paying $26 pp instead of $21. *sigh*
I think we are going on the 16th to get our marriage license. For some reason I feel better having my age listed as 21 in the paper instead of 20. lol
Still waiting on quite a few people to RSVP. We have about half of them so far and the deadline is in two weeks. Hopefully people will get on it!
We have also starting getting gifts! What is more fun than that? lol

So, FH got attacked by a dog at work yesterday. He got bit once on the left arm and 4-5 times on the right. He had to get stitches in his left arm, but is otherwise fine (just sore).
The manager was well informed that the dog (a nice sized lab) was aggressive. It tried to bite me a couple of times and was very aggressive towards other dogs. I had a hard time keeping control of him when I had to take him out of his run to clean it. If he wasn't reclaimed he was going to be put down on Wed.
Well, I guess Wed. wasn't soon enough for the dog. When he was taking the leash off of him, he attacked. He's lucky he didn't get it as bad as it could have been. Had it been me, the dog probably would have broke my arm. Needless to say, the dog was put down. State law says it has to be tested for rabies, which came back negative today (thank god!).

Ugggh... the guys are also stressing me out. Two of his groomsmen still haven't been fitted/paid for their tuxes, as well as my FFIL. Actually, I'm not even sure if my brother has yet or not!! I keep hearing excuse after excuse and I just want it done! :irked:

Sorry to hear about your FH. Glad he's OK.
It sucks about the "Men". That is exactly the reason we all went at the same time. ha I set the time and date and made everyone go at once. Of course there are just 5 men wearing tuxedos in our wedding so it was easier for me then it would be for some people. I hope they get it done soon for your sake.

I soooooooooooo feel for you! This will be me, mid-August. Men are just never in a hurry to do anything ~ they'd get fitted and pay the morning of the wedding if they thought they could ~ and many of them probably THINK they can. I feel your pain.

I had FH call the two of them and told them to get on their butts about it. His brother said he was going today, the other said Friday. I'm not sure about his dad. We will see if they actually do it or not. :snide: My dad is the only one other than FH who has actually been fitted!
I would have loved to have everyone go at the same time, but just like my bridesmaids everyone is spread too far out.

I'm also going on Monday to check out the *only* place in town that does professional make-up (as well as hair) to get prices and such. I'm hoping they are affordable, cause there isn't much other choice! I also need to start tanning for the honeymoon so I don't come home looking like a lobster, so I think I'm going to try and start that monday as well. :)

But still, there are soooo many things that could wrong!! :petrified: We have already put a 50% deposit down and it's too late to find anyone else (not that there is anyone else in our price budget that is worth it).

Well, he actually *did* change his cell number, but his soon-to-be ex gave us the new one when FH called their house phone. The thing that upset me was he didn't call us to say "this is what's going on, but I want to assure you things will go as planned". I understand that his life has been turned upside down, but when you run a business you gotta do what you gotta do.

I am so not happy right now. Tomorrow is the one birthday I have been looking forward to for YEARS and now the weather is going to screw me over. They are calling for sleet/snow tomorrow, with freezing rain tomorrow night. First off, it's never snowed this late in the year since I've lived here! And of course it picks tomorrow of all days. Yesterday it was in the 70's and I was outside wearing a tank top.
Because the roads around here were not made for winter weather, if it does snow, everything shuts down. I'll probably get to come home early for work... but everything else will be closed. I had been planning to go out to dinner with FH and then we were going to the bar and meeting up with some friends. If the roads are bad, none of that will happen.
I'm really hoping for the best, but considering every birthday I can remember has been ruined by something, well, as I told FH... you can't really blame me for expecting the worse. :(

Thank you!
I ended up having a pretty good birthday. It started off pretty bad, though. People at work suck. It didn't snow though, only sleet! After work FH took my out to dinner and then we met up with some friends at the bar. It was fun. Our DJ for the wedding was there and he ended up doing me in at the end of the night with a shot of patron and a "sex on the dj", lol. That was after five other drinks in three hours. Came home and threw up... that wasn't so much fun, haha. But I had a good time.
Of course, as I said, something bad always has to happen... I lost my phone. :( We don't have a house phone either so I'm totally cut off until he gets home to be able to call the bar and see if they found it. I've already tore the house and my car apart without any luck. It's the only other place it could be!

I hear ya with the patron. That stuff makes me toss cookies everytime. :purplex:

Good to hear you had an overall good time though! And welcome to the legal club! lol

Whohoo! I did get my phone back yesterday. Luckily one of my friends found it and brought it in to FH. I can't tell you how annoying it is knowing you can't get ahold of anyone! lol
Well, today was the deadline for RSVPs. I figure there will be a few late stragglers over the next week where people thinking that they have to have it sent by the 14th, not have it in my hands by then. However, there are still about 20 people on my list that haven't sent them in yet! Ugghh... I guess that's going to be a job for my FMIL to get into contact with them.
My bridal shower is in a couple of hours! I'm pretty nervous though, I'm not really sure what to expect and the fact that I don't know 90% of the people coming is a little nerve wrecking. Ah well, I'm hoping it turns out to be fun! :D

The bridal shower was fun! It was mostly ladies from FMIL's church that I had never met. We got all kinds of awesome new stuff... lots of kitchen stuff which FH was just tickled about, since he does all of the cooking. We also got an awesome luggage set from my grandma & aunt. Yay, we now have something to pack clothes in for the honeymoon! lol
I guess FMIL said that someone else was talking about throwing me another bridal shower? That will be interesting, lol.

My cocktail napkins came in the mail today and I LOVE them! I'll be sure to get pictures up of these as well. I bought them off ebay and would highly recommend the seller! I ended up going with black napkins printed with a pink ink.

Today was really nice. We went out to lunch, went and ran some errands, took the dog to the groomers, went tanning and then grocery shopping. After reading an e-mail from my mom, I am not happy. It turns out that the person in charge of events at the country club our reception is at is going out of town tomorrow through the end of March. She never got back to me about a menu tasting... and now the earliest we will be able to do it is two and a half weeks before the wedding. :irked: I'm pissed!!!

Is it wrong of me to be really annoyed that we are still getting RSVPs back? I mean, I'm happy to have them and it's less people for FMIL to get a hold of (which she hasn't started, btw)... but the deadline was last weekend! How hard is it to send something back ON TIME that is stamped and addressed??

Eeeek, five weeks from today! I can't believe we are so close!
I have decided that I need to start dieting and excercising. I have really been slacking and it's starting show. I know I shouldn't complaining, I am very skinny for someone my size... but there is just too much flab for me to deal with. I would be embarassed to be seen in a bikini right now and I want to go on the honeymoon feeling good about myself. So... diet, here I come! I'm also going to try doing the P90X with FH, but sadly I have a bum knee so there isn't a whole lot I can do.
Does anyone know of any other good workout programs that focus mainly on the ab area? That's really what a I need... I don't need to mess my knee up on top of everything else.
FutureKelley
03-24-2009, 03:52 PM
I am happy to say that I found an 8 minute ab workout that has been working great! The first day hurt sooo bad, but I'm starting to feel much better. :) I have also been really good about watching calories lately... so I have hope to have a somewhat decent beach body by the honeymoon! Now I just need to stay on my tanning schedule (ughhh, I was supposed to go today).
My mom got her dress this weekend and my brother got fitted for his tux. Ryan's brother is supposed to get fitted this week since he is on spring break. His dad got fitted as well! There is only one groomsman left to worry about.
Other than that, not much else is going on. Until I know how many tables we are going to have I can't order the table runners, buy candles, ect. Sooo... I'm just waiting for the person in charge to get back.
Oh! Someone at work got fired yesterday, so now FH is going to full time again. Yay! Though, the really sucky part is he will be off on Wed. and Sun. and I'm off on Mon. and Tues. :(

Depending on the weather, we are supposed to be doing our engagement pictures next weekend. Yay! Let's hope the rain they are calling for goes away.
We are also doing our tasting next Thursday. We have it narrowed down to four things, so I'm really hoping a couple stand out instead of having to pick something mediocure. I've heard their food is good, but of course they have a new chef in there... so I have no idea.

I also made a reservation for the three dogs to be boarded the 24th-27th. It's going to cost a pretty penny, but I'd rather not have to worry about all of them and well, we really won't be home and I don't want my dad to have to take care of them either. It does remind me though, I'm pretty sure that little dogs are due for their rabies, so I will have to get them into the vet before then. I'm also reeeeealllllyyyy hoping that our Beagle goes into heat soon, because she is due for April and they will not take her if she is in heat! That or I'm hoping her cycle was messed up from having the puppies and she won't go for a few more months. She is the one who needs to be boarded more than anyone since she is the trouble maker! lol

Woohoo!! I'm sooo excitied to do our engagement pictures, especially since we don't have any professional pictures of the two of us.
Our deadline for being fitted for the tuxes is April 11th and we still have one groomsman who hasn't been fitted and is refusing to return any phone calls. I wrote my wedding vows today. I just really hope FH doesn't peek in and see this! We already discussed the tone we wanted and I think this will be perfect. :)
I promise to be patient with you, especially when you ignore my directions and get us lost. After all, what is life without adventure?
I promise to try and learn to sleep on my half of the bed and to share the covers, most of the time anyway.
I promise to always root for the Cardinals and learn to hate the Cubs and anything to do with them as much as you do.
I promise to always be there for you, as a best friend and a wife. I promise to support you and all of your dreams, and help make them come true.
I promise to love you until my dying day. I would do anything for you and I am so happy to be standing up here with you today, in front of our friends and family. You are my best friend and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you.

But really. Those vows are sweet! I like vows with a little bit of humor in them. :)
Thank you! I'm actually not really into baseball (or sports at all), but FH is really into the Cardinals and hates the Cubs with a passion. When I asked him why he hated the Cubs so much, I just got a dirty look, lol. He said I would have to learn to hate them. :P

Yep, the weather was gorgeous! I just wish we would have been able to do it earlier, we were fighting the harsh sunlight of the setting sun. But the ones he showed us on the camera looked really good! I'm pretty excitied to get them.
Went to Walmart last night and bought 30 candles/holders. Hopefully I can get some pictures up tomorrow! Now I just need to buy the table runners and we will be set as far as table decorations! :D
My wedding list is starting to get small, the the "to-do" list for the house is still pretty big. We have to get the house ready for the six people staying here and there just isn't enough time left! :bbeek:

I am so happy to say that there are only THREE things left on my "to purchase" list for the wedding!! I still need to order the table runners, buy the bottle of champagne, and find some black river rocks for the candle holders (dollar store was out today).
Today I got the stuff to print & put together the scrolls, bought the basket for them, the candy for my brothers gift bags. I also bought bird seed and bags for the "rice toss" (we weren't going to do it, but my mom wanted pictures of it). I got the candle holders for the head table... great find at the dollar store today, I must say! I like them much better than my original idea.
Only 2 weeks and 5 days left!! :D

Ugh, I've had a pretty crappy couple of days.
We have been having problems with our two little dogs digging out of the fence. Sunday night FH pulled up all of the rocks that we tried to use to block them out of the hole and put chicken wire up. I told him to put the rocks on top of the wire when we was done, otherwise they would go right under it. Do you think he listened to me? Nope.
So, I wake up yesterday morning to find our Pom gone. I drive all over the neighborhood looking for him, usually he doesn't go too far. I can't find him, so I come back home and walk around. Still can't find him. So I call FH to let him know and go to town to do what shopping I needed to do. I get a call from him as soon as I get home telling me that Fry (our Pom) wasn't taken to the animal control a few towns over... and they close in 20 minutes. Ugggh! So, I drive over there and get there five minutes before they close. We didn't get charged since it's the first time, but they said next time they are going to charge us $50. I told them next time they can keep him. :irked:
And of course, they have to take him to the vet before I can bring him home, so I ended up having to pay for him to get his rabies shot (which he was due for) and the office visit. We ended up getting into a fight over the phone about it. *sigh*
Then today we had a meeting at work and we were told that our pay has been frozen until November. One month before I'm due for my raise. Yeah, real nice. I work my butt off more than anyone else in the shelter and the only other person due for a raise in the next 6 months is FH. I can't help but feel like I'm getting screwed once again. Thankfully, the manager is on my side and he is going to try and get the board to cut costs other ways. I'm not the only person who has threatened to find a new job over this. I just hope they wake up and stop treating the employees like ****... but then again, they've been doing it forever. I just don't know what we are going to do... we were really depending on that raise.

Ugh, my crappy couple of days followed right into today. This morning at work I splashed bleach in my eye. That was fun. About the time my vison came back, I get hit in the same eye by a dog. Then later, same eye still, I get a dog vaccination squirted into it. *sigh* I think I am destined to wear and eye patch on my wedding day.
Though, I did come home to a $50 giftcard as a wedding present today, so that was pretty awesome. :D
I guess FH got an interview at a different talent agency today. He has to drive up to St. Louis on the 19th for it. I'm happy for him, but at the same time pretty nervous with it being so close to the wedding (and a five hour drive one way, at that).

Thankfully, today was a much better day than the last few!
I ordered the table runners today. I found out that we won't be having strictly round tables, which kind of annoys me, but there really isn't anything I can do about it. Because of that, I will have to overlap the runner on some tables. I think it will be okay though... a safety pin underneath should hold them (I think?). I'm just hoping I won't need to run out last minute for some extra candles/holders! I bought them expecting a certain number of tables all the same size, lol.
I was talking to my mom on the phone today and she was like "I can't belive your wedding is only 3 weeks away!". I had to remind her it was only 2 weeks, not three. She said she was happier believing it was 3, haha.

Oh!!!! I am soooo happy to say that one of my best friends from when I was living in Michigan (and haven't seen in like 2 years) is coming to the wedding!!! I didn't think she was, since she didn't send the RSVP back, but she left an entry on our website saying that she is so excitied to come to the wedding and to see me! I can't wait for her to be here! (haha, can you tell I'm excitied?)

Two weeks before the wedding, one of our groomsmen is out. Y'all remember me having problems with him not getting fitted? Well, he finally did, and then three days later was told that he has a mandatory class for work that he has to go to that day. He even lied and said it was his brother getting married, but they don't care. It's go to the class or be fired. Nice huh?
The class gets out at noon, but it's three and a half hours away and the wedding starts at three. I guess we are just going to have to have FH's dad step in for him. I'm super pissed though (not at him, but the idiots he works for). I seriously cannot believe this happend.

So, I woke up this morning with a sore throat and it's been all downhill from there. Right now I am feeling like total ****. :( And we don't have any medicine in the house to help either! Thankfully I have tomorrow off and plan to spend my morning in bed... but at some point have to get up to go shopping & take the dogs to the vet.

Ugh, last night was horrible! FH got me some cold medicine, which I took and went to bed at like 9:30. I woke up around 3am and was tossing and turning so bad that I actually pulled a muscle in my ab area. I was in so much pain I couldn't lay or even sit down. I ended up taking some tylenol, more cold medicine and a melatonin. I had to stand in the bathroom for a good 15 minutes before the tylenol kicked in and I could lay down again. Woke up this morning around 8:30 and couldn't get back to sleep, but thankfully I'm feeling better. I must say, I haven't been having a very good time these last few weeks!!
I got the scrolls printed out this morning and just need to roll & tie them. I bought some more birdseed to finish the birdseed bags, though my cats got into them and ruined a good 5-6 (and I had *just* enough :irked:). I printed out the "reserved" and guestbook signs and put them in their frames. I still need to go out and see if the dollar store got any more river rocks since they were out last week.
My second bridal shower was cancelled and rescheduled for the same weekend we are supposed to be at FH's cousins wedding. I'm at the point I don't even want it anymore!
My grandma and aunt and making the chocolate favors this weekend and are coming over on Monday to help put together in the boxes. My mom is coming in on Tuesday to help with all of the final things. My dad will be here Friday morning, so I'm scrambling to get everyone done in the house that needs to be done.
*sigh* I'm soooo overwelmed. I just want this to be OVER!! Even FH said the other night that he is just ready to be married already, lol.

I love my FMIL! We had a nice "girls day out" today. We went and had lunch, then she treated me to a pedicure. It was sooo nice to be pampered and I did not want to leave that massage chair! lol Then she took me shopping, she said she wanted to buy me an entire outfit head to toe for the honeymoon, since she never had a daughter to do the whole "girl" shopping thing with! I ended up getting some shorts, t-shirt, bra, panties, sandles and sunglasses. She is so awesome.
I ended up running to half a dozen stores looking for black river rocks. I couldn't believe no one had any!! Finally, Home Depot was the last place I hit and they did have some ($7 for 5lbs, yikes!). I ended up paying it cause I needed them! :snide:
One of these days I'll get around to getting some pictures, lol.

Well, my computer crashed and had to be totally wiped and re-installed, so that's why I haven't been around. I don't get it back until Thursday, so I doubt I will get pictures of stuff up before the wedding. Sorry guys! :(
I can't believe it's only four days away!!!!!!
I did want to post some good news... FH had an audition for a talent agency in St. Louis on Sunday and they accepted him! He has to go back after the honeymoon for final paperwork & a photo shoot and then they will start putting him out their for auditions (he's wanting to do film, tv and commercials). I'm so happy for him! It's his dream to be an actor, so this is really exciting for both of us. :D

Aww, Congratulations!!! I'm sorry I didn't make it on here to congratulate you yesterday. Welcome to the Mrs. club. :D
I felt and still do feel the exact same way. I still don't know what to do with myself. I bet a lot of wedding planners got started because they missed planning their own wedding. hehe
I have to admit I'm starting to enjoy the alone time with DH again. I didn't realise how much I neglected our relationship during planning. DH told me today it's nice to have me back. :)
SO ... tell us all about your day and will there be pictures? hmm? :)
