I know the 1 year mark isnt like 10 years or anything but its kind of exciting.
Feb 16, 2008 would be our official anniversary (the date we eloped in Vegas)
Jacob and I both want to go back but its so darn expensive. Last year the rooms were $159 per night at the Venetian. I checked again yesterday and they were $300 + thats double what they were plus its a holiday weekend, but so was last year.
What did you guys do? I want to get some idea, he wants to go to Colorado and go skiing but I dont like skiing as a matter fact I dont like snow! I grew up with that stuff and moved away fast!

We didn't do anything like take a trip or anything. We went out to eat and got each other nice cards and that was about it really. I love getting mushy cards with "To my Wife" on them
We have pretty much done the same thing for the other two anniversaries too; I don't mind though :grinhappy:
If you guys want to take a trip it should be something you both want to do and will be able to enjoy together. Maybe come up with some ideas you both like and then put them in a hat and pick that way :)

It'd be nice to go on a trip.. But we are both poor, so we'll probably just go out to eat or something..
Yeah, I agree that the if you do take a trip that it should hopefully be something that you would both really enjoy. Sure, later on you two can take trips that one person may be more into, but not on your anniversary! :D
I don't know what we'll do for ours. It will be right after Christmas and the day after my bday...and about a month before Valentine's Day! Not exactly good for finances. We'll definitely do dinner and small gifts, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to do anything else for this anniversary.
First, my wife surprised me by reordering an exact replica of the top tier of our wedding cake. Mmmm, red velvet. (Our families ended up eating the whole top tier right after the wedding so we weren't able to save it)
Second, we took a vacation to Costa Rica. Highly recommended - nice and cheap in the off season. Even if you budget is tight, I think just a nice weekend road trip is a nice way to reflect and reminisce on your first year together.

Before our honeymoon was even over, we decided we're going to go back to Vegas for our 1st Anniversary (the plan being to get that out of our system for a while before we TTC in a couple years). A few friends might actually go with us, and if we go just a few days later than we did this year, it'll coincide with Femmoto, an annual women's track day event in Vegas.

We stayed home and packed a little (we moved out the very next day) and that night we watched all of our home videos we had made throughout that year including our wedding and honeymoon. While watching them we ate some of our cake that our cake lady boxed up for us from our wedding day, and we drank a bottle of sparkling grape juice that was from our reception as well.
I was happy with it :) Though I wasn't feeling very good, and had taken WAY too much meds and was a little loopy lol.

I think we are going to try and go to San Francisco. I was really hoping to go to Vegas but to get the same room as last time would be 3X more than what we paid when we got married. He wants to go see Alcatraz island and I want to go to their museums. It should be fun :D

We're trying to decide where to go. Either back to Jamaica (where we got married) or to the Bahamas. I think I am leaning toward the latter of the two.
We were in KS for the youngest's graduation. The kids treated us to a fun picnic. It was a BLAST!!

Yay Looks like we are going back to Vegas for the 1 year anniversary! Already got the tickets and right now I am waiting for the room rates to drop for the Venetian. Where we stayed when we got married :) When I checked last month they were $558 per night now they dropped down to $279.00 per night

That's exciting!! I love Vegas!
We were supposed to go the Melting Pot, which is one of my favorite places and we don't go very often. We had already planned on splurging since it was our first anniversary. Then the windstorm happened from one of those hurricanes, so everywhere was closed! We ended up waiting an hour to eat at Olive Garden. What's funny about it is that we actually never lost power so I could've cooked, unlike most of the city, but I didn't want to!
I think we are going to go to Gatlinburg in December since our anniversary was kind of messed up.
