I'm so excited about the holidays! We are staying home and boy are we glad. Hubby's parents are coming here for Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we'll go see Christmas lights. I'll make some hot cocoa and we'll all sit by the cozy fire and look at our beautiful tree with all those presents, okay I'm like a little kid, lol! On Christmas Day, we're going to a nice brunch that has a jazz trio. We went last year and it was really nice. Does anyone know what his/her plans are yet?

I'm not sure about Christmas yet......dont feel like a kid I love that type of stuff too! something about the tree all lit up just gives you that excited feeling!
For Thanksgiving, last year three of my four older sisters were able to come home for the holiday. We kept it a secret from my mom & dad for almost a mth, talk about hard! Then we had to figure out a way to drive to New Orleans(about 3 hours away) to pick them up from the airport without the 'rents knowing! Anyway, it was so much fun and this year my twin sister is getting married the Saturday after Thanksgiving so ALL 7 of us will be home at one time! And they are all bringing their kids! 8 total, 4 neices & 4 nephews!
Its gonna be so much fun!

For Thanksgiving my parents are coming here to Florida.
For Christmas, we we will be going back "home" to where our parent live. DH and I's parents only live like 8 miles apart. It will be our first time back in Indiana since we moved to Florida. We will probably fly out the 23rd or so.

I can't believe that Halloween is next month!!! (I also LOVE Halloween) Last year me and my FI were a dead zombie couple. We looked hidiously great!!!!

For Christmas presents, hubby and I have a spending limit for each other, $30. I'm thinking about getting him the Firefly (Serenity) figures of the cast and something else. He wanted to buy them from Dragon*Con and I said no because he already bought an expensive book from the convention. The figures are really cute; here they are:

We are always home. Our familes live in different states. It has been 12 long years since I have had Thanksgiving or Christmas with my mom. Not sure I can make that happen this year either. I would have to go get her and take her back. I hate driving in the winter. You can never be certain of the weather. Also my best friends first child is due Jan. 4th. I don't dare venture too far from home. I have to be there with her.
So seeing we are always home and family can not get to us. My older kids go to their dads for Thanksgiving. So it will be DH,the baby and I. We still have a meal and watch the parade. Just a lazy day. No place that we have to be. For Christmas we have all the kids. Again no family so no get togethers on Christmas Eve or anything like that that I used to have as a kid. ( even here with my ex a few years ago ) This makes it hard come the holidays. I miss having family around then. But the kids make it fun. We alway put the tree up on my birthday. A tradition I carried over from when I was a kid.No matter what day of the week we always put the tree up that night.

For Christmas we're going to go to the houses of both parents, one on Christmas day and one on Christmas eve. But either before or after that we'll be getting together with our friend-kin at our house. Hopefully the fireplace will work (it's a wood fireplace but it hasn't been used in God knows how long) and we'll play games and open presents and so on.
MoH (whose been my best friend for 16 years) will come and stay for a while, hopefully a few days if not a week, and we'll finalize bridesmaid dress details and go shopping and generally hang out.
It's always fun.

Last Christmas went something like this..
Thanksgiving - My parents
December 23 - FH Step-mom's parent's house
December 24 - Church, FH grandparent's house and FH step-mom's grandma's house
December 25 - FH house, my aunts house
December 26 - FH grandparent's house for a family reunion
I dont' know what the plans are, but this is sooo not happening this year. Hopefully my parent's house will be completed by Christmas and we can go up there for a few days and spend thanksgiving with FH family.

I won't be able to plan till a little bit before the week of. We get our schedule on Thurs, people can change it till Saturday at noon. I never know if i get holidays off.. And we aren't allowed to request. Even if i could, it would get shot down. Seniority. It makes it kind of hard to get excited for the holidays when you are too busy wanting to stab people in the face.. Seriously, why would someone say 'the store shouldn't be open on this holiday' then... PROCEED TO COME INTO THE STORE. I hate people. lol
Sorry. Mini rant.

DH and I were talking about the holidays the other day; we love Christmas. I think he likes to decorate more than I do sometimes ;)
We have been doing a Thanksgiving eve with my family and then the day of we try to do something with his family. We also put up our tree on Thanksgiving day.
We do Christmas Eve dinner with my parents then we do something with DH's family on Christmas Day. Not sure if things will change this year after FIL gets married in a couple weeks.
I am a planner, so I will probably start harassing the families to make sure everything is worked out towards the end of October.

This year is going to be unique for us!
Thanksgiving: On the Saturday we're having dinner with my sister & her boyfriend, and then we're throwing a house party (Our parents will be a hawaiian cruise so they're not around for dinner). On the Friday or Monday we're having dinner with FH's parents.
Christmas: We're going on a Caribbean cruise! Dec 21-26 which means we'll be on the cruise for my birthday (the 23rd).

I'm finding as the years go on, I'm starting to love Christmas just as much as I did when I was a little kid. I looooove decorating. Unfortunately this year, we can't put up our own tree, :( 'cause we're living with his parents. When I had my own little apartment, I spent hours decorating it, and I loved it.
Anyway... last year it went like this:
Thanksgiving: his brother's house, then my parents' house
Dec. 23rd: his dad's side
Dec. 24th: his parent's house
Dec. 25th: my parents
Dec. 30th: my grandparents on my mom's side
Sometime in January: my dad's side
Not sure how it will go this year. His brother mentioned wanting to hold Christmas at their house, but the more I think about it, the more I doubt that it will work with my work schedule or Eddie's. I'm already about 95% sure I'll be working until 6pm on Christmas Eve.
If any of you haven't seen yet, Kohl's already put up their Christmas trees and seasonal items. We were putting that stuff out a few nights ago.
I am getting so excited for the holiday's!
My parents are coming out here for Thanksgiving.
This year for Christmas we are staying home...which is nice. We (by we, I mean Doug) are going to chop our tree down with the kids (the 4-legged ones that is). I don't have any more vacation time as I used it up at the wedding. Though I will miss seeing the little ones opening there gifts.
I am already asking for Christmas lists from the neices and nephews!

This is our first year out of school, so we aren't sure about work and the holidays yet (and fh is job hunting for something better). I get some paid days off, but I doubt we'll have the money to go home since seeing anyone would involve a plane ride. I just couldn't justify the cost of plane tickets and such with the wedding coming up and our need to build up our savings. It might be nice to have holidays with just the two of us.
Oh the thing I love about holidays is we all get together at my Grandpa's house on Christmas Eve for "Santa's visit" and then Christmas day we get together at Matt's grandma's house. This may be the last year for it though cuz Grandpa is moving away :(
Thanksgiving we're supposed to be at Grandpa's, but I'm not sure what Matt's family is doing this year so we'll see!
I have no idea what to get him this year. What I WANT to get him is like $350, but it's one of his dreams and if I can manage it I will, but I highly doubt I can manage it.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so my family makes a bigger deal about it for me. Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without my dad's talking turkey and the parade ( which I'll end up watching alone for the rest of my life since FH doesn't like it). Whatever foods I want, I get. Super spoiled.
Christmas this year brings on mixed feelings. My parents are flying to Alaska to be with my brother and his family, which is great because my dad hasn't seen them in almost three years and with his health failing, we don't know when he'll see them again. I need to stay to work but I am taking a few days off because...
FH IS COMING TO VISIT! It will be his first time in Cali and I cannot wait to take him around. I miss him and I'm thrilled I get to see him before I make the move across country, which is only a month before the wedding. So he'll be here for New Years but it looks like I'm spending Christmas alone. *sigh* Can't have my cake and eat it too.
