Isn't it funny, now that I'm not planning a wedding, I'm always posting things unrelated? It's werid not to worry about the wedding anymore. Although I still have wedding obligations: developing pictures for family and sendign thank-yous!
Am I annoying anyone by posting non-wedding stuff?
I hope not.
Anyway, I am a big book lover and read often. Just wanted to see if anyone else was. If you are thinking about picking up a book soon, get "The Red Tent"- it's amazing. I can't put it down lately, I am so hooked. It's about women in biblical time, thier womanly cycles and how they went from little girls to women. It's a fiction but based on Dinah from teh Bible. I'm really enjoying it. I feel such a profound connection to these women in the story.
What books have you read lately that you would recommend?

I used to read ALL the time but I havent been able to stop long enough to sit down with a good good in almost a year.
The last book I read that I really really liked was "Remember When" by Nora Roberts/J D Robb. I just really like how she pulled that one off! But Im a big Nora Roberts fan. I dont really care for most of the ones she writes as J D Robb. I cant believe how one person can have 2 completely different writing styles!

Ladies!
One of the best books I have ever read in my whole life has to be "Lovely Bones" by Anne Sebold. I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone. It is one of those books that you will start and not put down until you are finished. Also, while reading it you will go through every emotion happiness, sadness, anger, frustration, every single one!!! Great Great Great book!!!!

I also don't have much time for reading, but the last good book I read was Under the Banner of Heaven by John Krackauer(sp). It gives an inside look into the life of poygamy. It really is an interesting read and has been banned from shelves her in Utah..

Amber made sure I read this, and it is riveting. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes.

The "Voyager" series by Diana Gabaldon is great!! I have never been a big reader, and when I was going thru some nasty time w my ex, those books were my escape. I was engrossed in them, that I have read all but the last one (read 5).

I love all of James Patterson's book. Right now I am working my way through the Alex Cross series. I am reading Cat and Mouse. This is the same series Kiss the Girls and Along came a spider came from. He is a really good writer. I have a hard time putting his books down. :book:

I guess I'm the odd one out when I say I like to read books by Ken Follet! He mostly writes fictious novels about the world wars and Germany and such! But my all time favorite books are by Danielle Steele (the Ring) and S.E. Hinton (the Outsiders.). I read them both when I was in the eigth grade and have read them both a million times! The Outsiders is just a classic, I'm sure you are all thinking how immature of me, but sometimes you love a book so much that it can stand the test of time. It just brings back memories of being curled up under a tree in the back yard reading it! And The Ring is a powerful story of perservirence and triumph over tragedy, I just love it! I've read it three times since the DH and I got together. Everytime I pick it up he goes "you're reading that AGAIN!?" Lol. Yes dear I am because I love the book!! lol

I am the same way.... I loooove Catcher in the Rye... I read it again and again. And i also love George Orwell's 1984. I read them both in school and i love them! I also like some of Margret Attwood's books. The hand maids tale. I read alot of John Grishams older stuff. The Testiment is GREAT!
I began to read Lovely Bones last summer but it made me so depressed when i was reading it i had to stop. Hearing such reviews from you ladies i will have to pick it up and try it again. Maybe now i am in a better place in life to read it.

It's definitely a sad book, but I like sad books and movies. I don't usually internalize it, but I can see how you could do that.
I really like Nicholas Evans. He wrote The Horse Whisperer, The Loop, The Smoke Jumper and The Divide. I own all 4 and have read most of them more than once.

I really like Danielle Steele too. I have all her books except the new ones. I am not sure which one would be my favorite. I loved just about all of them.
Hey Shawna, what did you think of Danielle Steele's book Vanishing? It was the only book of hers that I couldn't fininsh. I just couldn't get into it at all.
I also like V.C. Andrews books. I don't think there is one of her books that I didn't like.
I am not really big on sad books either. I read Suzanne's diary for Nicholas and Sam's letter to Jennifer both by Patterson. They were great but they were so sad. I hate it when a book or movie makes me cry. I try to stay away from those books/movies.

I am not a big reader. If I start on a book and it doesnt catch me right away I cant continue. The last set of books tha tI hve read are by Sophie Kinseslla. The Shopaholic series. I have read all of them. Shopaholis, Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, Shopaholic Ties the Know, and Shopaholic and Sister, and one not part of this line up was Can you Keep a Secret? . And The last one I got for Christmas in hard back was The Undomestic Goddess. I could not put it down and I was mad when I was done with it. I wanted it to go on. Now I am just waiting for her to put out another one. I believe she is working on one.
I also read In her Shoes by Jennifer Winer. And I watched the movie when it came out. Not as good as the book by any means and it did not do so good in the theaters I dont think. But the book was great.
It is hard for me to find a book that I WANT to sit and read ( when I have time ). So I think I am gonna try to re-read The Undomestic Goddess again. Or Shopaholic Ties the Knot. They are both ( well all of them are ) realy good. They are all so good. I can reme, ber reading the first oen I think and laughing out loud at one part in particulure. If your into these kind of story lines I say give Sophie Kinsella a try. I love them all.

I hate her new stuff but i enjoy the older stuff. She died, and the family is having ghost writers write now. I can't figure out why they would want to do that....
