What a smart beagle pup that is!

OMG; that was quite a feat, and quite a jump down too! I hope the dog didn't get hurt!

I wonder how it figured out that there was an opening at the top, or how to climb like that?!

With beagles .... where there is a will there is a way! I don't know about you but when it was in limbo I could almost hear her thinking - "OH how I wish I hadn't had that extra bowl of dog chow tonight!"

Knowing beagleeeeees... I doubt the dog was hurt :) She was off to find a good pile of something to roll in.

I should have taken video of my doggies when Lady would escape the back yard. She would do it right in front of Copper and he had no idea how to do the same.

Ha! I love how you can see there are extra boards at the top of the door. This is obviously a trick this dog had pulled before. What a smarty. Just figured out he had to go higher!

What a cool video. It looks like they need to nail down the roof a little better.

Actually, Bella does that too. I've never SEEN her do it...but she jumps out of her kennel...and comes to the door to be let in. And it's one of those 8 foot kennels.

Its funny because FH says I have to pick between the two. Owen is 2 1/2 and still has the puppy ways about him. I can't imagine two puppy like dogs. Sure, they would tire each other out, but that would be after they tire me out! The only way we could do a golden and a beagle is after the golden turned at least 4, then we may have a fighting chance!

Never mind being able to handle them both ..... I cringe at the thought of how much it would cost to feed two dogs, fix two dogs and bring two dogs to the vet every year :)

What is it about retrievers? They are all the same breed but they have such wonderfully "different" looks.

Good point. So, now I guess my decision shouldn't be between what type of dog I want, it should be between having kids or dogs!!! :p

On the upside, at least you don't have to educate them!

Theoretically, since a beagle is smaller, it should cost less money to feed and fix and ...................... don't retrievers commonly have hip problems (requiring expensive surgery) and allergies (requiring expensive medications)??

My beagleeeees were no fuss no bother but in hindsight .......... some education might have been a good investment

And actually, I always thought that beagles lived longer? I know bigger dogs such as a retriever only lives 10-12 years on average.

Not sure why they come in different shades. In Summit and Dasie's pictures they look really light, but they do have a "golden" color to them. Sometimes the fur is different (shorter and all) and those are field retrievers.

SerendipityCrafts
09-18-2008, 01:25 PM
It's the shape of the face too .... and some of them have wavy hair and others seem to have straight hair. I noticed it with my brother's dogs - LOL he has 4 retrievers and 2 bichons.

Dani
09-18-2008, 01:26 PM
Our last golden (Sadie) did have ACL problems, we were going to have to have her "good" leg have surgery, but we found out the hard way she had bone cancer after she slipped/fell and broke her leg on our kitchen floor 2 years ago. They couldn't do anything to fix it cause the bone was detriorated. It was so sad!

If you want another retriever, I'll send you to PA to get one from my SIL. They are sooooooooooooooooooo well taken care of until they find good homes. I am sure my bro has to sit on the floor if one of the dogs wants a chair :)

Yeah Owen had shorter curly hair and he is a hunting dog. He reminds me of a lion sometimes with his look and the way he is stealthy about sneaking up on animals or toys and then pounces! So cute!

Aw! Did Toby go and roll around in the snow like a nut everytime he went outside? Owen does this every single time. You would think the dog has never seen snow!
